Hi Kaysmommie,

You are right I was on TGM and I saw you too! :wave2:

We are going the Oct 21-29. I am very sad that I could not get the FDDP this trip but I just cannot pull my DS out of school.:sad2: I am excited to be going at the end of Oct though...(my kids have a fall break) hopefully it will be significantly cooler than mid Sept. Also my DH and I will be celebrating our 20th anniv. :eek:hard to believe

We booked our trip with the "code" :thumbsup2 I have been trying to change my ressie from ASMo to POR but cannot (no avail with the code) as of now. I need to call back and try through Guest Services (as per instructions from CGuy).

I really will finish this report:rolleyes1 . I promise. I almost have 1 of the last 2 installments ready to post. I do have my pics uploaded and ready...so hang in there.

TTFN

We made our reservation with the "Code" too. It was a good deal since we also have to go during DD7 fall break. We will be Poly October 3-11th. Hope you are able to get POR, it looks beautiful. I thought about trying to downgrade a bit and save $$ and stay at POFQ but it probably isn't available either. I guess we should just enjoy the Poly because DH says there won't be another trip for a while :sad2: . Are you able to make all your ADR"s yet? Happy planning :) I loved your Sci Fi pictures, I never ate there but it looks fun. Thanks for the tip about the candy as we are going to MNSSHP in October. We are driving, but I still would have left it in the car for a couple hours in a suitcase

I LOVE this picture! The looks on your faces are great! Especially on yours! I can hear you laughing!!!! Awww man, It really makes me want to rewind time, and meet you and the Tiaras all over again :grouphug:

So sorry about the bit of drama you had on your last day. Why didn't you fly out of Orlando? Wouldnt that have saved you some time?

Glad you're finishing your report before this September! It's been almost a year! :lmao:

OH! And thanks for the food porn  Your FP pics are REALLY good!

Have a great weekend!

Well, I was excited to see a new installment, but bummed that it was your last day! Thanks so much for sharing your trip and your adorable family with us, I enjoyed your TR very much!

And, yes, I too have the same problem repacking - I never seem to have enough room (of course it could be all the stuff I buy while I'm on vacation :rolleyes1 )

:sad1: I am so sad to here you TR come to an end! I really have enjoyed every moment! You take the most amazing pictures! You're kids are such cutie patooties! Thanks for sharing your memories!

Oh my goodness - what an eventful last day! :scared1:

If it helps any, LOTS of folks wind up on the Howard Frankland bridge unintentionally! I did it when I first moved here. My step-mother has missed my exit and wound up on it at least a half dozen times. Visiting friends did and and couldn't figure out what went wrong... and did it again! You're in good company :grouphug:

I've enjoyed this report so very much; thank you for sharing it with us! And October's just around the bend!

Thanks SOOO much for this amazing trip report and gorgeous pictures of two beautiful children!! I'm so sad to see it end.. but I'll be anxiously awaiting your report in October. Have a fun summer with your family.

daisy-77 Well, I think my last couple of days sounded worse than they were. We still managed to have a great time and laugh at ourselves (and each other):rotfl2: We did get home safe, sound and pooped.
Thanks for reading.

Disney Obsessive First, let me say I love your avatar...:cool1:
You will love the 50's PTC...I hope you have a fun and interactive CM. We thought the food was very good also. Thanks for the sweet comments on my DD.:cutie: She is a hoot and already a disneyholic.
Everytime we watch a game show or something she asks "How many times could we go to WDW with that money?"

serendipity Thanks for hanging in there and reading this TR. BTW, where does your user name come from? Is it the ice cream place in NYC?

kaysmommie yes, I have made all of my ADRs as of yesterday.:yay: I am so excited. I would love:love: to stay at the POLY. I know that will be awesome. I still need to call back and try to change my ressies. I will try tomorrow. Send me some pixie dust!pixiedust:
Have a great time on your trip. I can't wait to hear all about it.:thumbsup2

glendamax :wave2: You betcha..I was laughing and screaming:scared1: I love the RnR.
Yes, I agree with you I would love to do it all over again. We will definately have to hang out for a while next time. I know that we will have that chance again oneday:rolleyes1 . I am so excited for you with your DVC purchase and I can't wait to hear all about your Sept trip. What fun...I am jealous.

About the flight out of Orlando vs Tampa...we were flying on passes and the flights out of Orlando on that Sun to Atl were packed and the ones out of Tampa were not...we were fearful that we would get stranded at the airport so we decided to fly out of Tampa. I still think we made the right call even with all the drama.;)

soonergirl Hi! Are you counting down the days til POTC3. One month from today...I am glad you read my trippie and thanks for the nice comments.

PrincessV Hi V! Thanks for reading and hanging in there with me.
So that is what that bridge is called. Funny, it doesn't sound anything at all like what my DH called it:lmao: .
Well, yes Oct is not that far off but the waiting is awful. popcorn::

Sooze:) I am so glad you hung in there with me. Thanks and I hope your summer is a happy one too!:thumbsup2

Here are some photos that I took at POP. We stayed in the 60’s bldg on the back side. I really liked the location and you could see the fireworks from Illuminations from here (we were only in the room that early once). However, I liked the location because it was quite and not facing a pool or busy area. I did find the food court to be very, very busy and loud at times. I remember one night in particular, it was around 10:30 or so when we got back, but the food court was as busy as if it were noon. Kids were running all around…it felt very chaotic and very loud for that time of night. We only ate a couple of meals here but we found the food to be very tasty and the CMs were excellent. I thought everything was clean and the food was fresh. We did not purchase the refillable mugs.

disneysept06-006.jpg

My two complaints about the resort (these would be for any of the value resorts) is there is no coffee maker and no fridge. We compensated for this by bringing our own coffeemaker and a large cooler. It was not a big deal and it worked out fine. It would just be a lot simpler if these two things were provided.
disneysept06-003.jpg

The rooms are extremely small but other than that we have found everything to be great. Everything is very clean and well taken care of. For the amount of time you actually spend in your room I think Pop is a great value

The mouse keeping service was very good at POP. They brought us extra towels promptly when we asked and they always did a great job cleaning the room. We did get towel animals one day and they always posed the kid’s stuffed animals in fun positions.

disneysept06-004.jpg

The buses were sometimes a frustration for us. I just hated being at the end of every bus line at every park. The wait lines for the buses, at POP, have zero shade so while you are in line the sun is beating on you and it can be very hot. Otherwise, they seemed to come around regularly and most wait times were not a big deal.

disneysept06-007.jpg

The CMs throughout POP were extremely helpful & friendly. This was our second time to stay here and I would recommend it anyone who may be wondering about it

MY TIPS:

Purchase and use Bodyglide daily…Awesome.:thumbsup2 No chaffing No blisters

Break your sneakers in before going. Flip flops in the parks are a bad idea…no matter how you look at it.:sad2:

My DH would sprinkle foot powder in our sneakers at the end of each day. This would help absorb any moisture as well as freshen up the sneaker.

Pre-measure your laundry detergent and bring your own dryer sheets. I put the detergent into small snack sized baggies and then put dryer sheets in another bag and then bagged them all together in a larger bag. Make sure to pack this away from food stuff so the smell doesn’t infiltrate any food.

I had purchased (at a drug store for around $3) collapsible hampers. These were great to have. :laundy: An easy way to keep the dirty clothes contained and if you have more than 1 you can sort your dirty clothing each evening. These were also convenient for carry laundry to and from the laundry center.

Bring a stain stick and at the end of each day use it to pretreat any stains or spills you may have on your clothes. This way you won’t forget when you get home and most stain sticks are safe on most clothing for up to 2 weeks.

I used a small soft sided lunch sized cooler and packed a small medical kit. I included pain relievers, a thermometer, decongestant, cough syrup, Band-Aids, antibacterial ointment, tweezers, small nail scissors, anti itch cream, Benedryl, allergy meds, pepto bismal tablets, antacids, cotton balls, small gauze pads, q-tips, small alcohol swab packets and some antibacterial gel. I also printed off our Drs names and numbers and any prescription meds & their RX number. I take this little bag with us on every trip and it has come in handy many times. It takes up only a small amount of room in the suitcase and I store it on the shelf in the top of the closet. It is also a $$$ saver. These OTC medications can be very expensive at Disney.

We did take a few snacks and I pre-packaged those in snack size baggies just for convenience purposes. If you are not driving and wish to have food or drinks delivered we found Garden Grocer to be awesome. You can check out their web site to see what is available. On this last trip we used them and they delivered everything fresh and just as we had requested. We ordered milk, half & half (for coffee), OJ, fruit, yogurt and string cheese, pop tarts, as well as a case of water and a 12 pack of sodas. They also carry Styrofoam coolers and we purchased those as well. I think they were in the $5 range. We used one cooler for water and food stuff and the other for milk, juice & ½&½ . The coolers worked out great. Garden Grocer does charge a delivery fee but it is cheaper than renting a car (maybe $10).

As I mentioned above, we did bring our own coffee maker from home. The one thing that we absolutely cannot do without is our coffee. :coffee: My DH and I both prefer a French roasted coffee. I pre-measured the coffee for our number of mornings plus about 5 or 6 extra for those afternoons that scream for a pick me up. I also brought a container of sugar but I guess it could be confiscated from the food court. I then packed all of the pre- measured baggies of coffee and my coffee filters in another large freezer bag. I placed this inside the pot. This along with the coffee maker went in my carry on. I also packed 2 mugs in our suitcase. It is much nicer to drink your coffee out of a real mug than styrofoam. At least I think so.
I have read a lot about the bad coffee from WDW. So Beware!!! I refuse to risk it.

We found using a back pack to be essential. Our back pack contents: one small pill bottle with Tylenol, Advil, & Tums; Anti bacterial gel and wipes; Autograph books & pens; Chap Stick; Ponchos and a very small collapsible umbrella. Bring along at least one hand towel. This is great to have in case you get really wet on a ride or a sudden rain storm or for sitting on (i.e. parade time or metal bleachers) and also if it rains you can wrap your camera in it until you get to a dry place. Include extra batteries and memory cards or film. We also kept our water bottles, small fans, a couple of small baggies with non crushable snacks like dried fruit & nuts and a small pkg. of mints. I laminated a small card with all of our ADRs and confirmation #s, and 2 contact numbers in case of an emergency( I kept his in the front pocket). I think if you had any type of drug or food allergies or medical condition I would include that also. My DH carried this around…..he is the pack mule like I said. Sometimes when DH was lucky; DS would carry it.

I used a small purse that hung around my neck and in that I kept our Keys to the World cards, our Photopass card and any FPs. I also had my cell phone and a few $$.

Write your name and cell # on your Photopass card. This helps keep them separate in case the photographer has more than one or if you loose it. If using a digital camera take a photo of your cards…just in case. I made sure to program in all my important #’s in my cell phone.

Remember if you purchase anything in the parks or at another resort they will ship it to your hotel – FREE. So,…Why lug it around??? Just do this before the last 2 days.

Use Fast Passes! :thumbsup2 Why wait in line?

Take afternoon breaks especially when it is hot. Cool off, nap and get refreshed before heading back out.

Bring batteries, film, memory cards and the like from home. They are very expensive at WDW.

Pack a small screwdriver for repairing sunglasses or replacing batteries.

I found if each child has a set amount of money for souvenirs they do better. We separated their money and I carried it in separate envelopes. When they wanted something extra they had to use their money. It was amazing how much more they thought about their purchases when it was “their” money.

Don’t forget….Take more pictures than you can imagine. Very, very important! :goodvibes

I preprinted Mouse keeping envelopes for tipping, at home. I pre filled them with $$$ and each morning as we headed out we left one out. I kept the others in the room safe.

I made a couple of calendars and had them laminated prior to our trip. I put one out on the table so we could all see it whenever we were curious about what was on the agenda. I also kept one in the backpack as a back up.

Remember that it takes longer than you could ever imagine to go from point A to point B. Give yourself more time than you think it will take because sometimes the buses (& boats) are just unpredictable.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We always found the CMs were extremely helpful and this usually ended up in a conversation of sorts.

Just relax, laugh and have fun. Be flexible. Try not to sweat the small stuff and you know what they say it is all small stuff… Heck, it is WDW how bad could it be…:dance3:

I wanted to share these photos with ya'll. These were taken throughout the different parks and it makes me realize just how beautiful WDW really is. This is just a tiny portion of the variety of flowers for us all to enjoy...

My TOP TEN LESSONS LEARNED This Trip:

#10 Purchase extra batteries at home they are expensive at WDW.
#9 Bring more than 1 pair of sunglasses
#8 The tram does not go to the MK!!!:sad2:
#7 Pack 2 pairs of socks for each day…one for the morning and one for the evening. There is nothing worse than taking off hot socks to let your feet cool and then in a couple of hours having to put the dirty ones back on…because you didn’t bring enough pairs.YUK!.
#6 Do not go into a park on your first day! Make it a rest day. Go out to dinner, swim, rest and then you are ready for a full day of fun the next day. We made this mistake once but we will not repeat it. I remember sitting in the waiting area for Chef Mickey’s and not being able to stay awake. My Dh and I were pitiful. Not good…not what you think of when dreaming about your WDW vacation and it is certainly not a great way to start your vacation..
#5 When purchasing a DoleWhip or RootBear Float Drink it down some before walking in the hot Fl sun and if you don’t do that steer clear of cranky people.
#4 Do not seek out cheap gasoline in a strange city, when you are running late for a flight… especially one with a bridge:drive:
#3 Do not leave chocolate in a closed up car in FL. It will melt and become a mess. Duh!!!:scratchin
#2 Carry your Drivers License everywhere!!! Double Duh!!! (as well as a Credit Card.) :scratchin :scratchin
#1 Don’t be afraid to meet up with other Dissers…they probably are not terrorist or insane people. If they are you can always escape from the bathroom. It was great to get a chance to meet and know Eeyore’s Tiara, Glendamax, Glendamax’s Mom, MickeyGirl76 and Utahmama. You just never know…you may become lifelong friends. :grouphug:

Well, that is it for my TR. It kind of saddens me in a strange way to be finished. :guilty: It is like leaving WDW …I guess writing a TR is a way to hang on to that magic for just a bit longer. Maybe that is why I have taken so looooooonnngggg. I have enjoyed writing it and reliving all of the magic & fun with you all. I hope that one day my kids will appreciate this and get a kick out of reading it. Next time I promise to take some notes and be a bit quicker to finish. :thanks: I thank you all for sticking with me and reading it. Thanks for all of the wonderfully sweet and encouraging comments. I feel as though we are all friends now. I wish I could personally meet each one of ya’ll. Hey, if you’re ever in GA…let me know. You can stop by for a glass of sweet tea….:drinking1

I'll be on the LGMH FOCKER WATCH in Oct

 I get to reply first... Yeah!

Reading your trip report, you sound too much like me....:rotfl2: Even the part about secretly wishing you had spent more time in the park instead of the airport!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It's like your in my brain!

The tips were perfect and exactly what I would have given with the exception of bring disposable cameras for your kids, you get some pretty awesome pictures from their perspective, and DON'T EVEN think about buying them in the park!:scared1: You could nearly buy a case for what two cost.

And I say the tiaras should hook up again. I'm definetly game to do it. :woohoo: We need to plan an afternoon in the spa this time......with tiaras on! Maybe we can have afternoon tea sent over while we do the spa thing.... And then have dinner together!

Love the trip report. I just skimmed through and I will try to go back and read in depth. I may have to try sci-fi this next time.

Hugs, Cassandra

:sad1: I'm so sad it's over. Thanks for sharing this perfectly fun trip report. And for the helpful tips. I can't even BEGIN to imagine how long it takes you to get ready!!

My only wish is that we could take a vacation long enough to spend the first day relaxing... someday...princess:

Can't wait til you start your pre TR on your upcoming 20th anniversary trip!

And I WILL be in GA in July... My sister lives in Peachtree City... close enough for tea?

Susie

What a great trip report! I really enjoyed reading it! Your family looks so nice, kind, sweet, and excited! Especially your children--I can just tell that they are good kids. I love that your daughter seems crazy (in the best way!, spontaneous and funny) and that your son isn't "too cool" for Disney. And about that lady who got spilled on twice? Maybe she was really grouchy and angry because she had gotten spilled on all day every day? Haha... but seriously, that's no need to overreact when people apologize! Oh yeah, I also really loved your poem and your clue hunt! That was so cool and it was the best ever! I loved it! :)

Thanks so much for your tips. We actually pack 4 pairs of socks per each day and use two pairs at a time to prevent blistering! So sad that it's over, but before you know it it'll be time to go again!

#6 Do not go into a park on your first day! Make it a rest day. Go out to dinner, swim, rest and then you are ready for a full day of fun the next day.
Good tip! But I am soooo excited on my first day that I have to see a park. So I go just in time for a parade or fireworks and go back to the room.

I TOTALLY agree with this one :rolleyes1
So funny that you were as nervous as I was. I was REALLY worried that it would be weird for me since I was the only single one there. But I had a GREAT time, and regretted that we didnt arrange to meet up again afterwards.
This September, I'm going to meet some DISers 9/13 at the Tower of Terror (no, I'm not gettting on), and I'm hoping to meet some others as well.

I have really enjoyed your report. When you didnt come back for a while, I was afraid that you wouldnt finish it! To me, you have some of the best photos overall, especially of the FOOD :cloud9:

So sorry it's over, but hopefully you'll write another one for your next trip in October!

Buh-bye :flower3:

I so loved your trip report. You have kids the same age as mine(except I have an extra one 2 1/2 yrs old). Its always fun to read when you have something in common. Although, your kids look so much more well behaved then mine are...

We are on the countdown to our trip in Mid June:thumbsup2

Thanks for such a wonderful trip report and your list of hints and tips,It will come in handy :)

Hi ET,
I absolutely    the idea of an afternoon in the spa, wearing a tiara, and having afternoon tea. OMGosh, that sounds splendid. A slice of heaven right here on earth. :woohoo:

It is funny you mentioned the disposable cameras for the kids. We do this too. I just forgot to add it. I do think you are in my brain or vice versa. Either way....brilliant minds think alike:laughing:  .

I am happy you read my TR. Even happier you were a part of it.

Talk to you soon.
