The Haunted Mansion, Why NO gift shop??

I love ride gift shops! I love all gift shops. I know that when we exit the Pooh ride I still linger in that gift shop for 20 minutes browsing and maybe buying and I am not even a big Pooh fan!

Unfortunately my DD loves the gift shops too! So after getting off of the rides we have to work to get her out of the stores and for some reason she feels that it is necessary to purchase something in every store. (We don't purchase something in every store, but that does not stop her from asking.) Even though I like the merchandise in the stores, I have learned to resent the presence of the stores themselves.

Oh, I love milling around in the gift shops! I have 3 children, and yes, they tend to ask for lots of items when we're in the shops. We always remind them that there are so many gifts shops in Disney, so let's look in as many as we can, and we'll get their two favorite things at the end of the week.

I actually find it refreshing to get off a ride and not be thrown into a gift shop!

I agree. Everytime we were got off a ride into a gift shop, I had to sung the "dump shop" song I made up on the first day of my vacation. By the end, DSis was singing it along with me.

It would be nice if they sold some HM stuff somewhere in the park, though. I think shirts and/or hats would be a big seller.

What are you guys talking about the gift shop is on the right as you exit before you get to the horse and buggy....It is ran by ghosts and is not visible to the naked eye but if you look hard enough you can see it!!!!

Actually, I think it's kinda nice to exit the Haunted Mansion without having to fight your way through a gift shop to get back to the main walkway.

The cart has a doombuggy tag, some pins and a couple of small items. No, T-shirts, Hats or any other type of collectibles. TOT has a shop, Rock-n-Roller coaster has one even Space Mountain has one so why not the Haunted Mansion. I was there last week and couldn't even find a t-shirt. Also what ever happened to 999 happy haunts?

That's really strange. Last time I was there they had several shirts to choose from at the cart near the attraction. I picked up a nice long sleve shirt that has the creepy face pattern wallpaper from inside the attraction on the front. It's grey with the face in purple surrounded by black felt. The face even glows in the dark. Under the design it says 'The Haunted Mansion' in the classic attraction type face. The best part is that is was only $20.

A couple of years ago, the kitchen store next to it was strictly HM stuff. It was great, my son bought a nice Doom Buggy license plate. Then it went back to the kitchen store again (which I love). I feel your sentiments when it comes to Big Thunder Mt. Railroad. No magnets, souvies for that ride either (I think maybe some tshirts in SM store, but thats it). Good news for the future though for you OP!

I bought a shirt from this "invisible" store for my husband, and when he put it on and walked around the park, he was stopped by security and was told to put some clothes on. I explained where I had bought the shirt and even showed them the shop, he was then taken to first aid where they gave him a shirt and a cold compress.

I will never shop at an invisible store again!

Years ago there was a HMH giftshop in the small building at the old Keelboat loading area.

As far as any HMH rehab, RumorMouse says it will mostly involve redo of the stroller parking area, but may include a gift shop/area.

Then again, what do you need a gift shop for? You get to take home a free Ghost everytime you leave the ride.

This was the same thing I was thinking of. We were there last week, too, and we saw tons of Nightmare Before Christmas at Leota's cart and at Yankee Trader...but no HM stuff oddly enough.

If you are referring to the Yankie Trader. They didn't have anything a couple of weeks ago and the CM said they have not had any in quite some time but did not know why. I am just trying to find a T-shirt in a 2xl or bigger that's all.

I know part of the fun is the hunt, but if you're really desperate for a T-Shirt - call merchandising. I remember seeing a T-Shirt - so maybe they still have them somewhere. My wife got me a Haunted Mansion antenna topper at Villains in Vogue at MGM - so there is some stuff scattered throughout the resort. 407-363-6200

Give it a try! All you have to lose is a few cents on a long distance call.

OP, you are "dead" on. Heh heh, couldn't resist. In the 17 yrs we've been visiting WDW, we've been able to buy 2 HM things: the softcover HM book that came out during the HM movie, and a little kids sweatshirt that had Mickey and Donald on it. This is our favorite ride, and I would spend a small fortune if they had a gift shop.

I heard that a shop was in the works as well.

As far as the Happy Haunts Ball, the last one was in 2004. I don't think another one is on the list of special events on the disneygallery.com site.

If you look at the rides that have gift shops at the exit it is mostly a recent thing... some time after BTMRR and Splash mountain were built as I believe if these were being built today they would almost definitely exit into a gift shop.

I think that really started when MGM was built. I don't recall any of the original Epcot attractions emptying into a gift shop.... (I don't include World Showcase in that since it is mostly shopping and food).

Nowadays it seems that any time a new ride is built it will empty in to a gift shop.

I have sometimes seen HM shirts offered in a cart on Mickey Avenue in MGM, on the same side of the street where they have the character trailers, and between the (old) Millionaire and One Man's Dream. However, we didn't walk around that way over last weekend so that may not be an option anymore.

We thought the same thing at MNSSHP, why no HM merchandise?

Disney would have to cut into the grounds to build a shop, which IMO would spoil some of the ambience of the place. A shop elsewhere, or a section at World of Disney at DTD would be a nice addition, though.
