You'll want to be extremely cautious when discussing hidden mickey's. Especially in HM. I know for a fact there is debate on the authenticity of the dinner table hidden mickey. Many say it is not official. Check out hiddenmickeys.org and decide for yourself.

Just a friendly warning.

That's right --- the dinner setting is considered "unofficial" by most sources I have read. Also, I believe Donald is only on ONE chair and that chair has been removed --- I was there in May and it had not been replaced.

C'mon dude, stop posting half-truths!!!

The dinner setting is official according to a book that I purchased inside of WDW. And stop saying im only posting half truths I never said the chair is still there I said theres a hidden Donald on the chair.

Because my new philosophy is...

A good rule to live by is "don't believe anything you hear and half of what you see". If the book you are referring to is the Barrett book, I have that book too. Mr. Barrett is not affiliated with The Disney Co. and just because he wrote a book doesn't make him an authority by any means.

Now, as far as the dinner table hidden mickey... I still haven't made up my mind on its official status. I have ridden the HM many times and it has been there every time. However, I have never seen an official Disney publicity photo of the dinner table with the hidden mickey in place (a point made by those who say that hidden mickey is not official). I have also heard that at first it was not an official hidden mickey, but the decision to make it official was made because it always seemed to reappear after the plates had been placed in their "proper" positions. ***Disclaimer: My research is anecdotal and I do not gaurentee its accuracy.***

So, I say again, check it out...in depth...and make up your own mind. Don't rely on others to provide you with all the answers. I know your intentions are good, but you shouldn't take the first answer you find as gospel. Any research I did when I was in school almost always required at least three sources. Good advice if you ask me.

I know you have caught a lot of grief from some in this community, but I don't think it was all unjustified. For the most part we are here to help. It's up to you to take the initiative to follow through with our advice.

Not to spur an arguement but all I know is the minute that I saw the plates before I read the book I told myself that there was a hidden mickey.

Now does anyone else have a question. I will do my very best to provide with an informative answer. :) This thread has been a well... experience for me but I am determined to keep it alive for as long as I possibly can. Anyone who has a question feel free to ask away I am pretty knowledable. :thumbsup2

WolfxOfxNovember, I think you are a funny kid who really likes the Haunted Mansion. I think it is great that you are out of school for the summer and can have fun with your free time, and the most you have to worry about is being "flamed" on a Dis board. Ahh, to be that young again . . . :goodvibes

...let’s take a look at some of the ADHD traits that cause all of these problems:
• ADHDers usually have poor self-esteem and ego structures. They often don’t feel good about themselves for this reason and their self-doubts keep them from effectively developing winning personalities and taking part in social events.
• Teen and adult ADHDers often feel they are not in control of their own lives and as a consequence don’t take criticism or advice well. They can develop paranoid thinking as others are trying to manipulate them, because while they were ages 5 to 15, classmates, friends, parents and teachers usually manipulated them to try to change their behavior or get them to do what they wished.
• They sometimes feel as if they are “dumb” or “stupid” because their inability to focus or pay attention to details of a task and complete an assignment leads to frustration and self-doubt.
• ADHDer’s inability to effectively integrate, absorb, process, and communicate input from visual, auditory (sound) and tactile (touch) sources often leads to confusion and frustration if they are expected to respond very rapidly to an event or question. Just like the rest of us, if we don’t understand a situation, we become confused, perplexed and frustrated until we can resolve the issue. Unfortunately, ADHD teens and adults process these inputs (vision, sound, touch) much slower, have problems thinking through and analyzing an event and can’t effectively store the processed information once it is processed. As a result of these observations, we often say ADHDers have problems with “executive thinking” or the “executive processing centers” of the brain. In addition, their problems with executive thought processing causes communication difficulties resulting in even more frustration.

The hidden donald is seen in various chairs and shows an abstract but visible Donald Duck.[/B]

See...you use the PRESENT tense and refer to MULTIPLE chairs -- as of my visit in May, there were NO chairs like Donald Duck and before then, I can only remember ONE. THAT is what I call a HALF-TRUTH (be grateful I give you credit for half).

You are annoying many because much of what you post is either incomplete or untrue. How is that our fault?????

Also, the Hidden Mickey on the dining table, as I understand, is not in the original ride plans and was put there by a "rogue" CM and from time to time it would be removed to go with the original plan. I am not claiming that this is 100% fact and folks may dispute me, but it does call your assertions into question.

Many folks are telling you "humility" and "research". Maybe there is something there...

Now go and sin no more.

I said seen but I never said they were currently in The HM.

"Is seen" is the present tense meaning now, meaning this instant, meaning currently in the Haunted Mansion

• You should be prepared to allow your ADHDer to make mistakes and fail so you can use the experience as a teaching tool. Often parents come to my office seeking ways to keep their ADHD child or spouse from failing at something.* As I tell them, if a child never falls down while trying to walk, the he will never learn to pick himself up and keep on going. Failure provides learning experiences. My hero, Walt Disney, reportedly bankrupted more than once, but look at the legacy he built through learning to adapt to failure and mistakes.

You must let them fall down and teach them how to pick themselves up. Once you do so, then it will be much easier to teach them how to avoid falling down in the future. ADHDers are usually really good at remembering mistakes and shortcomings, so one simple reminder of a past event may be enough to prevent or stop a current anger crisis. When teens get a speeding ticket, most parents take their license and car away. A smart parent sends their teenager to a driving school* designed to teach skills to cope with impulsivity, such as building a habit of glancing at the speedometer and correcting speed. Taking the car away doesn’t correct the problem and produces more frustration and feelings of loss of control.

Be sure to remind your ADHDer that everyone makes mistakes, so they are considered “normal”.* More than anything, ADHDers want to be perceived as “normal”.

Are you accusing me of having ADHD? Seen does not necessarily mean it is in The HM it could be seen in the back of a moving van, or in my room not that I stole it or anything :rolleyes1 .

Cool info.....

however, though I am a musician, I also have degrees in psychology (though I do not do it professionally) and it is probably dangerous to label or diagnose on a discussion board with limited information and not meeting face to face.

Certainly good thoughts none-the-less...I particularly liked the part about not taking a license away but teaching in new ways -- I will remember that when my kids are older....

Why?

:sad2:

And as far as the Donald Duck chair, I've seen it a hundred times. There's one that is obvious but I believe there is a similar pattern on other chairs there. If something has been moved recently, it's not really fair to make a federal case of it.

I mean if someone asks me if the Main Street Bakery has cookies, I'm going to say yes. If there were a Nestle uprising and no chips were available today and I don't know that, it's not really my fault.

Oh- and when a grammar debate annoys an English teacher, that's pretty bad, lol!

Wolf- just post "I am not 100% sure this is fact." and you can post whatever you like. No one thinks you live in the HM and are reporting like a field reporter in Baghdad minute by minute.
