I cant say for certain but I would guess at around 1720. Years after the mansion was built.

JRawkSteady is absolutely correct. There is no back story to the HM, regardless of how convincing the story is, as it has evolved over time. The metal ring that has become the 'wedding ring' was a post that was cut off at the base and the small metal 'diamond' is the tip of a screwdriver that broke off as the worker tried to pry the post stump out. They were then filed down and left in place.

To find the ring, walk to the end of the canopy-covered area as you exit the Mansion, noticing how the pavement changes from smooth stone to cobblestone. The ‘ring’ is located in the second-to-the-last smooth stone.

The original Haunted Mansion architecture was based on a early 1800's southern mansion, the WDW HM architecture is based on later New York's Hudson River Valley mansions.

If you're going to call yourself the foremost authority, be aware you're up against some serious 'competition' on the DIS! These people know what they're talking about.

The only reason I ask is that you state that they attended Louisiana State University - I am from Louisiana and LSU didn't officially become LSU until 1870. I was thinking about this in my sleep last night!!!

I'm afraid I'm gonna 'bust you', pal! I've done extensive on-line research re: Haunted Mansion and I recognize some of what you've posted from other people's writing on other websites. If there's one thing I hate (personally, not as a moderator here) it's plagerism.

Perhaps you could call yourself the KING of research??

LOL Glad to see I gave you a little fright. That is an interesting point. I originally said Louisiana State because I did not know of any older universisities in Louisiana. But as I said the story could have happened anytime after 1671 the year The Haunted Mansion was supposedly built.

Those who like my story may like to know that nearly everything in that was made up by me. The ring and the hatbox ghost are persisting stories so I thought they deserved a place in my tale. But I made up the clocks story, I made up the caretakers story, And I made up pretty much all the details.

Shocking enough this only took me an hour due to all my knowledge of The Haunted Mansion. The revisions is what took some time.

My 4 and 6 year old dd's and I had read somewhere that the voice of the bride at the end of the Haunted Mansion ride is that of the woman who did the voice of Malificent. Is that true? Also do you know who does the voice for Madame Leota?

Oh are you going to love this. The bride at the end of the ride is called "little leota". The voice of Madame Leota is Eleanor Audley the actress who lended her voice to Maleficent. The voice of Little Leota is done by Leota Toombs. Leota Toombs is the daughter of Harvey Toombs. You can see Harvey's credit in the opening of movies like Peter Pan. Leota Toombs provided the face of Madame Leota and the face and voice of Little Leota.

A little boy died and his mom wanted to spread his ashes over The Haunted Mansion of course the cast members said no. However she went on the ride and took the urn with her spreading the ashes through different scenes in the house.

On October 21, 2004, a bidder on a Disney-sponsored auction on eBay won the right to be the first non-Disneyland employee to have his name added to an attraction. Cary Sharp, a doctor and health-care attorney from Baton Rouge, Louisiana placed a winning bid of US$37,400 to become Disneyland's "1000th ghost" with the addition of his nickname, a joke epitaph and the signatures of Disney "Imagineers" on a tombstone to be displayed in the attraction. Its placement was guaranteed for ten years and will remain as a permanent exhibit. According to the Los Angeles Times, the opening bid of $750 was placed by horror novelist Clive Barker. Sharp, who had only visited Disneyland once before, placed the bid in good faith as a way to entertain his friends and never expected to win. The tombstone is located in the finale and can be seen just as the "Doom Buggy" enters the graveyard gates. The name on the tombstone is "Jay."

The money has been donated to the Boys and Girls Club. Half went to the local Anaheim chapter of the main charity while the other half went to the Baton Rouge chapter.

You cant count that he would have officially been the 1001st ghost because the boys story happened before this. I know that a bidder got their very own epitaph at Disneyland but I never heard of being the 100th happy haunt. Anyway Disney would never give anyone that honor. The story would start to fall out of place because one of the most popular things about the Haunted Mansion is the "Any Volunteers?" line.
