I saw on my dash a post about the new 1D video that said "we're thirsting over Marcel" and that phrasing still cracks me up

If I ever became famous I want to be one of those no last name celebrities.

My high school told me there was a certain formula for writing college essays in order to apply and get scholarships. I wrote mine on Walt Disney.

yep, mercilessly play up the pathos.

I wrote a scholarship essay and played up how my stepfamily is so big and there's not enough money for us all to go to college and closed with the sentence, "Walt Disney, one of my biggest inspirations, once said, 'If you can dream it, you can do it.' I already dream with every fiber of my being, and receiving this scholarship would be another step towards making my dreams a reality."

it totally bit me back tho because the scholarships were awarded publicly during a school presentation and the lady read part of my essay verbatim, including that last line.

My opening was something like "'all it takes is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust to make all your dreams come true.' A saying once taught to young children has been carried with me through my entire life" and then went into how Walt has inspired me, and how I want to bring the "magic of discovery" to the children I teach. I guess it went over pretty well.

My school is getting a foreign exchange boy this year. He's German I think, so not sure what to think about that, but, my fingers are crossed that he's cute.
