Ok we need a one night only hotel for our first night in orlando. (we are driving down and arriving 1 day before our official resort stay and we want to try something different) I'm torn between The Grosvenor and DTD Hilton.

Our #1 priority is that we want to stay at the hotel the shortest walking distance to DTD. So, which one of these resorts is the shortest walk?:confused3

HELP!!!

thanks!

We rent form the Dollar desk at the Grosv all the time and walk it's right across the street from the DTD marketplace bus stops/entrance.

Not sure of where the Hilton is there but most are right on that street.

Grosv is most likely the closest.

I stayed at the Grosvenor and enjoyed it very much...the walk to DTD is very short and easy. You'll pay a lot less for a night at the Grosvenor than you will at the Hilton. Go for it, take the extra cash and enjoy a nice dinner.:thumbsup2

They are both right across the street from DTD. The Hilton gets much better reviews than the Grosvenor.

Both are across from Downtown Disney on different sides of Hotel Blvd.
I have stayed at both and Hilton is the closest & easiest walk.
I would go back to Hilton in a heartbeat, I will not return to Grosvenor.
No comparison in the two resorts.

Added: We paid @ $55 an night for Grosvenor and felt it was too much. Most of our group left early because they didn't want to stay any longer there, but they were from FL and easy enough for them to leave.

We stayed at the Grosvenor on our 1st time to WDW 3 years ago. It's right across from DTD, very easy walk. This hotel often gets mixed reviews. We really enjoyed our stay there. Very nice large rooms.

I can only assume any negative reviews are based on comparing it to much higher level hotels such as the Hilton. We paid $40/night off season for the Grosvenor but they also tack on a resort fee of $10 which includes high speed internet.

That said if the rates are nearly the same then opt for the Hilton. Otherwise the Grosvenor is a very nice resort.

Hilton is directly across from DTD. Grosvenor is just up the Blvd. The difference in walking time is probably 3 minutes. Hilton is a nicer hotel. However Grosvenor is undergoing renovations and I heard from neighbors that the rooms are nice. For one night I would go with the better rate.

Thanks for the replies. We were leaning more toward the Hilton from the beginning so we decided on going with it since it was our first choice. I'm glad to hear that it is (or at least seems to be) the shortest walk. I'm sure the Grosvenor is a very nice resort also. I think we may be even arriving earlier than we thought that day! **YIPPEE**
