Yesterday when I made my reservation and put my normal request in, the CM told me, now with the new system of assigning rooms, she recommended not doing online check in. :confused3

I have not been to Disney since the new system went into effect. But last August, I put my request in when I booked and did online check in and received all of my requests. :thumbsup2

I am considering not doing online check in this year, because of what she told me. I want a better chance of getting my requests. :)

Interesting point. I did online check in last September and was upgraded to Club Level in CR from a Tower View. I didn't find out until I went to pick up our room keys at the CR. I don't have a clue as to why my husband and I were upgraded. But I do wonder if having done the online checkin had anything to do with it. In any case it was awesome. :cool1:

I have stayed at POP twice and am planning a possible third for the next trip. I have not stayed at AS Sports but I have stayed at ASMovies. I absolutely prefer POP over ASMovies. It's newer! The refurb rooms are awesome. I really like it. We also really like the atmosphere at POP.

I don't think you can go wrong with that decision.

Glad to hear this! We stayed at ASMo a couple weeks ago and are planning to stay at POP in November. Sounds like a good choice!:goodvibes

We just got back from 7 nights. I did online check in, requested ground floor, near transportation (but decided to rent a car the day before we were due to arrive...which worked out AWESOME BTW). Our assigned room couldn't have been FURTHER away from everything in the 80's near the 90's parking lot at the end of that building. I kindly asked for something a bit closer to Classic Hall. The CM was VERY nice, said she understand since I have kids (doesn't just about everyone there?! LOL) We were put in 70's, building 10,facing the lake on the 4th floor.

Our stay was great...except Mousekeeping stunk like usual. Do they EVER vacuum the rooms during a guest's stay? The same crumbs were on our floor until day 6. I usually tip at the end of our stay...IF we get good service, but that didn't really happen. My kids did ask why some of the folks near us had so many towel animals in their windows...I said to myself....they must tip daily :rotfl:

Glad I rented that car. The bus stops were MOBBED, especially on Sunday morning (Princess Marathon day. We ventured off site with it also. Easy to pick up from the airport and really saved my sanity!!!! Food court was mobbed as well, but was expected for the busy holiday week. Food is great like usual! Dining plan options were AWESOME there!! First time on the dining plan (QS) and I think we saved quite a bit.

Overall great stay..dissapointed no Hippy Dippy pool, but the computer pool was fine, and close to our room. We were walking around the grounds one afternoon and my DD had a tropical outfit on and some flower clips. One of the security guys in a cart saw her, said he would be right back and brought her a real flower. I thought that was really nice and she loved it!

Thanks everyone for all of your info and kind responses!:thumbsup2 I've always requested ground floor at the other resorts I've stayed at and had no problem so it's nice to know Pop is pretty much the same! Unless something happens during the planning stages to upset things, it's gonna be our home for 10 days in September!:goodvibes

I've never used the online check-in system so I don't know how it differs in terms of having your requests granted. I was going to last year for CBR but I didn't bother since I actually enjoy the check-in process when I don't know the resort very well - they always tell you everything!

we are not going to use online check in this time. We wont arrive until 8pm so we figure there wont be much of a crowd.

Hi everyone! My DBFF and I are considering staying at Pop for our trip at the end of september and I have a kind of strange question. I'm afraid of heights and am really nervous about those outdoor walkways! Strange I know...anyhow, my question is if any of you have had any luck with requesting rooms on the ground floor? Thanks for any insights!:goodvibes

Hi stace :goodvibes Can't wait to hear how you like POP!

Did you pefer pop over CBR? I never use online check in. Pop is so quick at checking you in anyway.

Hi Katie! :goodvibes We still haven't decided for super-duper sure, but unless one of us wins the lottery by September...:rotfl: Plus, Pop looks like fun! And I am dying to try the cheesecake!:goodvibes

I've never stayed at Pop. So far I've stayed at ASMusic, ASsports, POR, POFQ (x3) and CBR. POFQ is my favourite so far but budget-wise the Pop is better and not as spread out as the others it seems! Plus I've seen so many TR's where people had great experiences, and this thread is certainly full of people who have loved it! :)CBR was good, no complaints but for the size and the busses took forever! But I went with my mum who didn't spend as much time in the parks as I did, so she took advantage of the nice pools and walking trails, beach areas and everything. She loved it there! And we were in a good spot, not far from the main pool and Old Port Royale which was very nice.

Just booked Pop this morning for May14-20th. So excited. This is our first disney trip. It will be me, dh, ds11 and dd8. I booked a preferred room because I had a pin for room only and it was a good deal.

Now after reading this I think I should change to a standard room room with a lake view. All dh wants is a clean quiet room. I am thinking a 4th floor lake view would be quiet. Any suggestions? Should I keep preferred and just request a room away from a pool or do standard lake view? Which century is the quietest? I don't really want to stay in either 80's or 90's beacuse they look farther away from the food and busses.
Thanks

We will be there during your trip...we'll be there 5/15-5/19! maybe we'll see you poppin' around!:rotfl:

Does anyone know if you get there early and no rooms are available, do they have a safe available for a laptop?

If you arrive early to your resort and your room is not available, a cast member will store your luggage and you can go do whatever you want like go to a park.
when your rooms is ready they will send you a text and let you know.
All rooms have a safe , but they are way to small for a laptop now if you have a mini book that may fit in the safe.

Hey yall! So I'm thinking about booking something in PoP a night or two before my check-in for the college program. I've never been to Pop Century before. What do ya'll think of it? Is it 'better' than the All-stars. I've done All Star Sports before and loved it!

Also, i'm expecting it to be a bit busier (because of the price point of the room for the time 5/16-5/18) but is that normally a super busy time of the year. I usually travel during value times :-) Thanks!!

The Pop is by far the best of the value resorts, and they just gave it a refurb with new carpet, new paint and new HD TV's it if had HD programming. So you will enjoy the pop it's awesome.

I agree, the safes are very small. A mini-book would fit standing on its side. The safes are in the wall and not deep, just tall.

When you arrive to the resort, if you are early and your room isn't ready, you can give your luggage to Bell Services. They document each piece of luggage and keep it safe until you return later to retrieve it. They will give you a ticket to hold on to so you can claim your bags.

You can ask for a preferred room which does not directly face a pool. On my last trip we were in a preferred room and it was near the main building (food and buses) and we did not face a pool - we faced trees. It was very quiet and still close to Classic Hall. We are people who don't want to have to walk a mile to go get food, drinks or to catch a bus. The location worked wonderfully for us. A lake view at POP might be a little far for you based on what you stated you are looking for. :thumbsup2
