Received the free dining code, so we added to DS's bday at Daytona and will be a Pop from August 1 - August 6th. We are all excited!

Yep everytime we have requested ground we recived it to. There preety good at accomdateing you:goodvibes

This is by far the best of the value resorts, I love the Pop Century it just feels like home to me.
Going back in June

Does anyone know if you get there early and no rooms are available, do they have a safe available for a laptop?

If I request a certain building (that isn't preferred), would they possibly grant that. I want a lake view because I believe it would be quieter--maybe it's not.:)

Hi everyone! My DBFF and I are considering staying at Pop for our trip at the end of september and I have a kind of strange question. I'm afraid of heights and am really nervous about those outdoor walkways! Strange I know...anyhow, my question is if any of you have had any luck with requesting rooms on the ground floor? Thanks for any insights!:goodvibes
Have it noted on your Reservation and mention it again to the Cast Member when you are actually at POP checking in and tell the CM the reason.:)

They WILL do their best(and should be able to)to find you a Ground Floor room, especially if you are not concerned about getting a particular Decade.:)

It is quieter! I would suggest not requesting a certain bldg (unless you REALLY want that bldg), but rather, "lake side, quiet location". We also find the 4th floor quieter and some guest find the 1st floor quieter.

Happy planning!!! :goodvibes

Thanks bunches!!!

last time we were in building 4, 4th floor, facing the lake and it was very quiet. No road noise, pool noise or other resort noise other than standard hotel noises - all and all it was great. This time we are going for building 6 - 4th floor, lake view - although there will be some noise from art in animation construction, most have said its not bad. We will see in 23 days!

Please let me know.....we are doing a short trip this year so long nights and early mornings=lack of sleep.:upsidedow I need to catch as much sleep as possible to stay :hyper2:

In addition to what others have said, that you can have a ground floor request noted on your reservation, if you use online check-in Ground Floor has been one of the few room request choices you can make during online check-in. (The others have been "crib," "near transportation," and "refrigerator.")

In my experience requesting ground floor (three times now) I have been successful.

Yesterday when I made my reservation and put my normal request in, the CM told me, now with the new system of assigning rooms, she recommended not doing online check in. :confused3

I have not been to Disney since the new system went into effect. But last August, I put my request in when I booked and did online check in and received all of my requests. :thumbsup2

I am considering not doing online check in this year, because of what she told me. I want a better chance of getting my requests. :)

Any updates on when this pool refurb will be completed:confused3

Anyone there now or just back that has more up to date info - we are hoping for an early completion.

:beach:

Good point...I'm not clear on what the right advice is regarding whatever the new systems are and online check-in. I haven't been keeping up with any threads on that topic, but I did hear in the DIS Unplugged podcast that Dreams Unlimited is seeing that ressie records made with WDW travel are getting turned into entirely new ressie records with whatever the new resort system is, and things are getting lost. Interesting to hear that CMs are advising that too.

You'd think that at some point they'd work out the relationship between online check-in, online requests, and the new system...maybe by when I go later this year. :)

Hey yall! So I'm thinking about booking something in PoP a night or two before my check-in for the college program. I've never been to Pop Century before. What do ya'll think of it? Is it 'better' than the All-stars. I've done All Star Sports before and loved it!

Also, i'm expecting it to be a bit busier (because of the price point of the room for the time 5/16-5/18) but is that normally a super busy time of the year. I usually travel during value times :-) Thanks!!

we love the POP, third visit coming up...all new refurbished rooms...never stayed at All Stars so can't tell you if POP is better or not...but would think having the new rooms is a bonus!
good luck with the College program!

Thank you! I'm not planning on doing the parks or anything. Just maybe laying by the pool for a few and getting some rest and relaxation. Pop Century seems fun based on the images/videos that I've seen!

I have stayed at POP twice and am planning a possible third for the next trip. I have not stayed at AS Sports but I have stayed at ASMovies. I absolutely prefer POP over ASMovies. It's newer! The refurb rooms are awesome. I really like it. We also really like the atmosphere at POP.

I don't think you can go wrong with that decision.

I would also like to hear people's responses to this question, because I have also stayed at All Star Sports, and while not a sports fan, I adored how close I was to the main hall while not being in a preferred room as well as always finding a seat on the bus! (We were there the first week of Free Dining, August 09)
