I requested building 3 too. I leave in 5 days - when do you go?

We're checking in on the 3rd.

Since I've requested building 3 I'm sure they'll give me building 7 or 8. It's a little game we play. I make a request and the room assigner looks at the map to determine which building is farthest away from where I want to be. That's where they put me. Then I ask the CM at check in if it's possible to be in the building I requested. She/He goes in the back and a few minutes later comes out and voila I'm in the building I requested. Just like magic. Oh, we have a good old time playing this game. It doesn't matter if it's Pop Century or Polynesian, they love to play the game too.

Before someone comes along to tell me that requests are just that requests, yeah I know. I'm just kidding. Well, maybe half kidding. In our 30 or so vacations at WDW I've made room requests maybe 10 times and I've gotten those requests only 4 or 5 times.

thanks for all the great info on POP. I'll be there Thursday night for my first on site trip. Hoping the humidity isn't as ridiculous as it was in June. I thought I was going to melt. Good thing there was butterbeer available. The temps for next week look good though. Highs in the 80s wow it's like winter. I might need a sweater :lmao:

Questions??

Can I do online check in if I booked my room through hotels.com? If my ressie with them says king bed will I actually get it? How do I get one of those nifty first visit buttons? Anybody ever watched fireworks from POP?

WOW too many questions for one post

Don't get too excited about seeing 80's...We were there last week and a few days were in the 80's, but add the humidity and the sun - Every day on the weather station it would say, Temp - 88....Feels like - 98 ( and they weren't kidding;))

Not sure if you can do online check in.
I do not believe King Beds are guaranteed. They are like all other room requests.
You can get those buttons at the front desk of your resort and Guest Services at any of the parks.
We didn't watch fireworks from POP. We have never been in one of the locations to view them, but I know many have.
:goodvibes HTH

thanks for all the info I'm so excited about that dumb button...not sure why.
I looked up the temps and it said high in the 80s and I know the humidity sucks but it's going to be 107 here on those days. 80s sounds like paradise :goodvibes

I leave on Thursday and have been watching the weather. I'll take the heat and the humidity - just no rain. It's been saying rain every day for the past 2 weeks, and poof - come Thursday....

Thu, Sep 2 - Sunny 89° - 0% of rain
Fri, Sep 3 - Mostly Sunny 90° - 20% chance of rain
Sat, Sep 4 - Sunny 91° - 0% chance of rain
Sun, Sep 5 - Sunny 91° - 0% chance of rain
Mon Sep 6 - Sunny 90° - 0% chance of rain

WOOOHOOOOO

I know he's not Country. That's a heck of a typo.

On an unrelated note, I have decided that Building 1 will not be rehabbed by the time I check in next week so I have requested building 3. I held out as long as I could. I'll report back if I see any progress.

Not Smokey Robinson.... hmmmm???? than who is it I'm thinking of.... I'm picturing a black singer.. who did country... gosh.. this is gonna drive me nuts til I can figure out who I"m thinking of. I do not think I have any vinyl records by this person (but maybe a CD)... I'm gonna have to go through my stuff and see. I'll get back to ya'll.

update: googled Smokey Robinson.. he doesn't actually LOOK like who I am picturing... but gosh darn!! Who is it!!

ok.... another update... I think its Charlie Pride... WHY I attached Smokey Robinson's name to him.... ???

Can I go way off topic here? Anyone who is in Disney right now...is Magic Kingdom/Main Street decorated for Halloween yet? They are starting MNSSHP a little later this year, but I'm hoping they've decorated.

Hello wise ones :worship: if our plane lands at 7am on turkey day how bad do you all think it will be getting from MCO to POP and then check in on that morning??? Trying to decide if i should do on-line for the first time ever as we do have special requests too or just wing it with the regular??? How crazy do you think the hotel and airport will be that morning??? We have arrived at night the same day the last few years I saw a red-eye and early am arrival jumped at it and then realised eh-gads:scared1: we are gonna be at the airport with everybody else that morning - not the normal ghost town it is after 5pm. TIA for any advice.

So we just got our luggage tags in the mail today!!:banana::banana: This makes it so real!! I am just jumping for joy and had to share!! I do have a question though, we got the booklet with the little tickets for every person in our room (myself, boyfriend, brother and sister).Only my boyfriend and I are flying, my brother and sister will be driving up with my parents. They sent us three yellow luggage tags (one for me,bro, and sis), but not a fourth one for my boyfriend who is actually flying with me. His name is in the booklet just not on one of the luggage tags. Does that matter? I'm assuming not since it will all go to the same room..just want to cross my t's and dot my i's! haha:rotfl: I'm giddy right now!! I can't wait for my disney mail to come this week!!:dance3:

Also...we are booked for two rooms, all of our party will be arriving very late (around 10:30pm ish) we requested connecting rooms when I booked, and rooms that would be able to be accessed easily by a wheel chair (my sister is permanently in one). Is the fact that we are arriving late make our chances less of getting those requests?! We would like a refurbed room, but if we don't get one we won't be crying! haha We will be there Oct. 1st...any chance the refurb will be done by then?! The connecting and wheelchair accessibility is the most important to us, we like to open the connecting door to give our large family room, and we sometimes put the wheelchair in this space to save room! Thanks all for your wonderful advice!! I can't believe we are getting down to the wire!!

I know it sounds pretty fabulous. I hope it holds out. I'm looking forward to getting a lot done at the parks.

We did the MNSSHP a few years ago with our nieces. (It was our date night with them). We had a blast, the decorations, the atmosphere and the fireworks. Disney does everything big and we believe that you will have a great time. Maybe we will bump into you while we are down there.:yay:

We're 3 adults and a 3 year old boy. Both my dd and I are red heads, if you see us definitely say hello!

Hey, I thought that was MY little game. It doesn't matter what resort we stay at or what building I request, I never get it the first time. Usually after a little begging and a few tears :rotfl: we do get our request or something very close to it.

Terri

Well, we did it...we are packed and we still have 13 more days to go. I am sure that we will do some minor adjustments.:banana::banana:

Does anyone have a idea of how much it will cost to get a taxi from pop and back to the nearest grocery store? Dh wants to get some adult beverages but also a few other things. I thought about Garden Grocer but I think we would be fine with him taking the trip to the store.

We were there last week, and no I do not recall seeing anything for Halloween.

We took a cab from downtown Disney to the premium outlet mall and it cost us $10.00 there then when we took one home 1 guy wanted $20 then another said $18 then we talked to one that took us to Pop for $15. We asked the driver if we decided to go to Walmart how much and he said about the same price. I hope that gives you an idea.

Just had to post because I think my ticker is under the 3 month mark now! :cool1:

I picked up an over the door shoe storage and a couple of hanging cubes for extra space for our trip. I imagine by the time we get there all the rooms will be refurbished. Does anyone know the measurements of the shelves in the dressers. I was thinking of getting some storage baskets to slide in there, but want to make sure they will fit.

Anything else anyone can think of that will make our lives easier and less hectic in our cozy room at POP? (Extra hangers and pop up laundry is on my list). Can't wait. Time will fly, now that we're back to school and activities soon.

One of the best organizational thing I used this trip was a magnetic basket for the inside of the door. We kept our wallets, room keys and car keys there. No searching for them on the way out the door. I also used 2 of the hanging cubes and they worked great. Used 1 sweater size one for all of DH's stuff and 1 shoe size for all our extra shoes. I didn't bother with the storage baskets on the dresser. I also got a suction cup toothbrush holder for the mirror over the sink. It was great..gave us that much more counter space. I also stuck a few suction cups on the mirrors to hang baseball hats and one in the shower to hang the bath puff thing (i hate using facecloths..weird, I know:confused3). I also didn't bother packing extra hangers. I just called Mousekeeping when we arrived and they brought up and extra dozen.

Thanks for the tips. We need to start packing soon. We just relized one of our suitcases has a rip and don't think it will make the trip. I bought a new suitcase and got it home and it is to big for what we need. So off to return it and get something diffrent this week. I was so excited to get it and then Dh said it looks awful big. If we stick with a 27 inch we usally are near the 50pound mark. The one I bought was a 30 inch. But in the store it didn't look that big.

We are 3 weeks away and I feel like I should be going out of my mind but I'm not - what is wrong with me? I am super excited but I feel like I should be in a frenzy for packing and this and that.
