I've heard of the "blue screen of death" but my computer apparently likes its individuality. It has given me the grey screen of death three times in the last couple of weeks. Just goes grey, won't respond to anything...does restart when I hit the reset button. It's been having a lot of quirky personality disorders too. This can not be a good sign...and of course it would happen when my husband is out of the country. :sad2:

Michelle,

I have been having a grey screen too and it won't start up. I have to turn it off and restart. Been happening since the last "security" update for Vista.

Well, at least I'm not alone. I don't have Vista, though. I have Windows 2000 Pro. I've had it since it came out, and never had a problem with it before. It does do updates, though...maybe it was a bad Microsoft update on all OS's. That might be a software issue, but I think it has a hardware issue too. It has been acting really bizarre for about a month (declines to open windows or files, declines to follow links, sometimes does not show files or folders at all, sometimes shows a flash drive as five different drives, etc), and the grey screen thing happened for the first time two or three weeks ago. :confused3 However, to back up, it crashed and burned in May when my hubby was in Mississippi for training and he had to talk me through re-loading Windows...it has never really been right since.

I dunno. My husband built it five years ago or so. I talked to him about it (via IM, he's in Iraq now) and he said to just make sure I have all my pics on the flash drive and get ready to buy a new one. :confused3

Mine is just over a year old. It happened to my DH yesterday and he reset the sleep mode timer. He actually turned it off as it seemed to happen if the PC was left idle. We shall see.

Now, if you can help me get my sticking keys working again......I spilled Coke on it. I have taken it apart 3 times and gotten all to work then another one starts. Now it is the KKKkkk key. Why do all my words have K's in them tonight?

Haha! I know (there's that pesky k again) all about keyboard issues. My son kills them regularly. Usually by spilling something in them, even though he is not "allowed" to drink or eat at the computer. My hubby bought me one that was fully encased in rubber, and he managed to murder that one too.

Oh...and upon thinking about my other post, I guess a bad update on all Microsoft OSs was a dumb idea on my part since almost everyone else would be sharing our problem too then. :headache: Duh... See, there's a reason why I just push the button and if the computer doesn't work I scream for my husband. Cuz I'm a computer dolt. :upsidedow
