The great news is my wife and I are having a baby. We are very excited it will be our first so we are nervous and excited. We are trying to come up with some good unique names that arent too crazy. We have named all our pets after disney characters but figured our child wouldnt like a disney name especially one like goofy or Pinoccio. Any suggestions would be good as well. We had our first visit and honeymoon at wdw and were planning on going back this fall to celebrate our year anniversary; however we will be post poning our trip till next year because 1. my wife will be too far into her pregnancy to fly 2. I have been told that you do not want to see or be around a pregnant lady when its hot humid and on her feet all day :scared: and 3. We both agreed it would be better for the both of us to be able to go rides together instead of her just watching and waiting in the hot humid weather :flower3: so even though we aren't going this year now I think we are going to have a great year and will soon be able to share it with _______(name of future baby boy or girl) :woohoo:

Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy and upcoming birth of your new family member! I too would postpone and concentrate on the pregnancy and upcoming birth. WE went this past May with my almost 15 week old son and had a great time. WE also took my now 2.5 yr old when she was 4 & 9.5 months old too.
My kids names are all different:
Ryleigh is our eldest daughter (Ry)
Madigan is our 2.5 yr old (Madi)
Graiden is our 6 month old (Grady)
and if our next one is a boy he'll be Finnian (Finn)
and a girl will be Cassidy (Casi)
I have a niece Kaylin, and two nephews... Tanner and Cooper

Congratulations on the baby! You still could go with a Disney name, just not such an obvious one. Think of Sleeping Beauty, whose name was Briar Rose. You could call your baby Rose or Rosie... I'm sure there are some names that are not so obviously Disney, yet are Disney related, maybe from a live action movie. Good luck!

I thought her name was Aurora? It's been a while since i read that one to my munchkins though so I could be mistaken!

How exciting for you!
There are many Disney names, but I think I'd avoid "Pooh". lol Although after many diaper changes it might seem fitting!
Whatever you choose, it will be perfect just like that little baby!

Yes, her name is Aurora.

I have a niece who was named after Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She loves her name! She's 4 now, and every time I point to a picture of Belle and ask her who it is, she says "ME!" It's adorable.

There are plenty of girl Disney names... Cindy (don't even ask who that's after), Aurora, Jasmine, Belle, Ariel, Meg (after Megara from Hercules), Wendy, Lily (after Tiger Lily), Nala (Yes, I have a friend named Nala, so it's a name), Kiara, Jane (from Tarzan), Jessie (from Toy Story), Daisy (Yes, she's a duck, but it's a popular name), Melody (Ariel's daughter), the list could go on...

Boys, not as much... but still: Peter, Phillip, Eric, Sebastian, Dale (after Chip and Dale), Robin (after Robin Hood) Todd (after Fox and the Hound), and there are a few more out there I'm sure - you get the idea!

Congratulations on your first baby, that's amazing! All the best to you...

Congrats! I too would agree with waiting!

I'm sure you'll find the perfect name for your wee one - sometimes one just comes to you when you see the little person - that's what happened with our 2nd little man who is a Riley - had lots of girl names picked out that we liked but no boy name - saw him and knew he was a Riley Mackenzie aka Rileybear! Neither of my kids are named after any specific person either - I refused to do that as I didn't want to have any hurt feelings with the 'you named him after one grampa but not the other' kind of thing!

Good luck and wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy

Congrats!!!

Our son is Declan. I understand its becoming more common now but when he was born 6 years ago) we didn't know anyone else with the same name. Afetr being on these boards we have "met" 5 or 6 parents wo have chidren with the same name, including our own mbb!

Yes, she's Princess Aurora, but don't they call her Briar Rose while she's living with the Fairies? I'm pretty sure, but I could re-watch the movie just to be safe!

Congrats -:yay: :yay: :yay: -waiting sounds like good idea,,:goodvibes :goodvibes

Get out all those old Disney movies (or rent them from the public library),,
there is a ton of beautiful Disney names --you'll know in your heart when just the right one comes up. Have fun and best wishes on a healthy pregnancy!!
Hugs

Yes, Sleeping Beauty's princess name is Aurora but the fairies change it to Briar Rose while she is hiding with them in the forest. Trust me I know! My daughter's name is Briar (not Briar Rose). We have a very common last name and I wanted something different but not too different. She is now 10 and loves her name. Everytime we go to WDW she has her picture taken in front of the Briar Patch shop by Splash Mountain.
I am a teacher and please, please, please, be careful how you spell your child's name once you decide on one. I have taught so many kids with unusual spellings of their names. Parents want to be different, but their child ends up with their name spelled incorrectly all the time. For example: Justen/Justin, Britni/Brittany, Emli/Emily, Dawsyn/Dawson. This is just a pet peeve of mine!
Anyway, congratulations and have fun choosing a name!
:tinker:

I love the name Jasmine!

I also really like that name but my wife told me awhile back she didnt like it so much so we named our cat Jasmine. I thought it would be a great name for a girl but I lost on that.

LOL yeah and im afraid of the day that chore begins I have 10 nieces and nephews and when they were babies I tried to avoid the whole diaper escapade but it looks like I won't be getting away from that this time:scared1:

thank you all for all the suggestions I never realized how many names there really was in all the Disney movies. If its a girl we might try a Disney name but for a boy we probably won't go with a Disney name. We already thought of Mason, Kaden, Damien, but thats as far as we got but you guys gave us some good suggestions I'll have to run them by the boss.

My DS2 is Mason. We have DD12 Riley Nicole, DS8 Ethan Alexander, DD3 Ramie Lynn, and DS2 Mason Reade (although DD12 and I voted on Mason Montgomery).

A note about naming:

When our 2nd child was born, we decided we wanted a 5 letter name like our first child. There was this song from Veggietales that we used the tune of to teach her to spell her name, and wanted to do the same w/ him. Then when our 3rd was born and we found out she was a girl, we were kind of stuck w/ the 5 letter thing. PLUS we decided to go ahead and just complicate our lives further by starting w/ an "R" and ending in the long -ee sound, like Riley. Now, this became problematic when I became pregnant again (surprise!) and we realized that if it were a girl, we had really shot ourselves in the proverbial foot (feet?). I asked around and found stories of people whose parents had been unable to continue some ill-fated naming trend, so Savannah, Sarah, Suzette, & Samara ended up with a little sister named Juliet, who always resented being the odd-girl out. The only name that we could find to stay consistent was "Rosie," and while I think it's a beautiful name, I'm just not a "Rosie" kind of mom, plus it's a trifle more old-fashioned and feminine sounding than Riley & Ramie.

Needless to say we were relieved to find out we were having a boy....until we tried to find 5 letter "E" names. But DS really wanted to have a little "name thing" going on like the girls, so we decided: 5 letters, ending in the "un" sound. Three days before going into the hospital, his name was going to be "Duncan" (I know--6 letters. It was a compromise), and then DH came out of the bedroom holding a list of names I'd written down months before. "Mason Reade. I like that one." "But, honey," I replied, "see, I scratched out Mason Reade and wrote Mason Montgomery instead. Don't you think it sounds better." Obviously, I lost.

All this to say be careful about starting patterns, especially when you name baby #2.

Congrats, by the way! I can't think of a more splendid reason to have to postpone a WDW trip!

You picked great names, Ashley! I too have a Mason (middle name is my step-dad's name) - I had to fight for that name, my husband was determined to call him Mallone LOL We also have a Mitchell - yes, I did the "M" thing ;o)

I've never thought of naming a child after a Disney movie, but honestly, that's a wonderful place to find a name. Lovely movies, lovely messages in the movies, etc. A treasure trove of possibilities :o)

I wish the original poster a happy and healthy pregnancy and L&D. Enjoy it :o)

Congratulations! Here's some pixie dust for your new little one on the way!pixiedust: Wishing you a safe & healthy pregnancy for your wife and baby!

Congrats on the new pregnancy!
As for names, my girls are Julie and Jamie...kinda plain names but we love them!!

Congratulations! We named DS Benjamin ( Ben actually from a Ross and Carol's little guy Ben) But we almost named him Elias ( Walts middle name) also Lillian ( Walts wife's name) was on the list for girls.
