The Great Leap into Running and DVC Ownership.

Ann, glad to see an update. I'm sorry it was more difficult for Zoe than expected and hope she is feeling a lot better soon.

I am glad to read your tricks helped and don't think that makes you a bad mom at all! It makes you a smart mom who has been paying attention to her care and knows what to do. I hope this week is manageable for all of you and the removal goes well.

Thanks so much, Cynthia! I think the worst of it for her right now is just the stress of going to school with the foley in. She is happy and laid back all weekend and then had a meltdown this morning. I think she doesn't want to be stuck at school and feel poorly.
Such a strong and brave little girl. Sounds like she has been through a lot in such a short period of time. Hope everything else goes ok and they are able control the situation better going forward. It seems when we thing something will be easy...life has a way of throwing complications our way.

Thanks, you are so right. I have long since learned never to say never. ;) Yet... there I was saying that this would only be a simple procedure and that it wouldnt be bad to do right before my trip. I just hope that it still ends up ok... because I am about as far from fl in the continental as you can get...so not a lot I can do should the nurse call me from school.

Ann, glad to see an update. I'm sorry it was more difficult for Zoe than expected and hope she is feeling a lot better soon.

Thanks, Karin. I know I keep saying that I am going to get back to dis.... but I swear my weeks fly by. I promise though... I am going to finish the other PTR AND get back to this one once I am back from FL!

As for Zoe, she is feeling better. But... really she just needs that darn tube out. :goodvibes

Yup, two weeks with the foley in total. She will still have the spasms..but not having the foreign object sitting in her bladder aggravating things will make them much more manageable.

If this revision has done the trick, then she won't have anything for a while. If it doesn't, then she will likely need to have a new stoma placed in a less inconspicuous place. Long term, her surgeon hopes for a transplant. They are just not quite there yet in terms of it being a viable option. He suspects sometime when she is a teen...maybe young adult. If/when she has children they will all be surgical births.... So those are the big ones. Little revisions here or there are likely... but not necessarily a sure thing.

So is the revision so she can use the existing stoma or will she be able to use her own bladder?

I'm glad that this is potentially the last surgery for awhile. I really hope everything continues to go well.

And, look at you with a trip in just a few days. How exciting! :woohoo:

Yes, the revision is so that she can better use the existing stoma. In the process of building her a bladder, tissue was used that does not perform the way normal bladder tissue would. So she has spent the last couple years learning how to use her bladder... however, I believe the surgeon may have tinkered a bit and it is questionable if she will be able to use it or if she will have to relearn what she already has.

And... yep :cool1: A trip in just a few more days. I am super excited!!!

So I have been back for 10 days... and just today got my email box cleaned out. Did a little facebook cleaning as well... and now it is time to get caught up on dis.

There have been some changes made.. like you all didn't know that I would end up making changes.

In talking with Steve more seriously about arrival.... he insisted on adding the night of the 8th to our trip. He just didn't feel that arriving thursday night..getting up early Friday morning...going to bed early friday night...so that we could be up by 2:30am on Saturday for the race was a good idea. So one more night it is.

We now will be there from 1/8 to 1/18. ::yes:: 10 nights!

I still need to lock down the airfare. I may tackle that tonight. At least the way down. :scratchin yup, I think that I will do at least that tonight. I will be sure and share what I end up with soon.

Meanwhile there was a new set of promos released. Kira and Josh booked their stay with the stay play dine package. Since she made and ADR for her, Josh, Zoe and Alex I figured that having the dp for that part of our stay would be a good idea. I figure it simplifies things for Alex in paying for the meal. Since AoA is excluded from that offer I had to book elsewhere. Where did I book?

Well, I would have loved to stay at POFQ again. It is such a small resort and it would make the RD transportation easy.

:sad2:

Nope, booked solid or excluded...

What about CSR? I stayed there for the phm and it worked well. Plus the sliding doors near the bathroom are nice for added privacy...which would come in handy when we are trying to get ready in the middle of the night.

:sad2:

Again.. booked or excluded.

Ok.. what about some of the deluxes?

Well, that is just a tad more than I want to spend.

CBR?

:snooty: While cost was good and actually I preferred the food court there to other mods... the fact that it has just double beds doesn't make it ideal.

Ok... what does that really leave???

Steve will not stay at the values. While he didn't hate Pop, he felt like the masses were just a bit... well, massive. Just too many people for his liking.

So again... where? :scratchin

Well, what about POR? The AB rooms with the murphy bed would be perfect so Alex and Zoe wouldn't have to share a room, right? ::yes::

:sad2:

Sadly, no AB rooms were available. In fact only a certain type of room was, with the option of garden view or pool view (for just a slight bit more than garden)

So I booked a pool view in this kind of room

I have not told Zoe. I think I will keep it a surprise. :goodvibes

Zoe is going to love that!:goodvibes

Oh, and thanks for calling me "Karin" when you responded to my post earlier. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Welcome back, Ann!

How awesome that you are going to get a Royal room! I am sure your princess is going to love it! :thumbsup2

That room is awesome! And yay for adding another day!!!!! :cool1: Or night...or whatever it is! :rotfl:

Omg Ann! She will freak out!

I hope so. I hope it isn't too "disney" for the guys. Then again... I guess I don't so much care if they think that. ;)

Zoe is going to love that!:goodvibes

Oh, and thanks for calling me "Karin" when you responded to my post earlier. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

 :rotfl2::rotfl2: I am so sorry, Kathy! Can you tell that after a long trip and a couple weeks of hard work (have I mentioned how much I hate that I don't have vacation time and basically come back to have to hustle to get stuff done? Leaving me with little to no free time for a couple weeks?? :faint:) that I am a bit frazzle.... or at least a bit more than normal? (::yes:: I guess I am always frazzled)

Welcome back, Ann!

Thanks :goodvibes

I guess it is how you look at it. We are staying one additional night. However, it really gives us the full day on what would have been our arrival day....

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I think I probably could have drawn this out longer... but honestly, I dont have it in me to watch and watch. So I went ahead and got not just a one way down like I thought I might... but the rt fares. :cool1::cool1:

It took some time because I had to set everyone up with mileage plans. I figure it is important to collect miles. Not that this was that lengthy of a process, but I was a tad surprised that I needed the last 4 of our social security numbers. Kinda odd, yes?

In the end it was a tad more that what I had budgeted for... but only by a couple hundred so I feel pretty lucky.

We will be flying

Leaving Seattle at 7:10am. Arriving Milwaukee 12:55pm. We then depart Milwaukee after nearly a 3 hour layover (at 3:50pm). Finally we will arrive Orlando at 7:35pm

Returning, we will leave orlando at 2:10 PM. We will arrive in Nashville at 3:05 PM. This time our layover is only a couple hours and we will be back in the air at 5:00 PM. Unfortunately, we do have to make another stop in Denver before we continue on to Seattle and arrive at 9:45 pm.

It is a huge relief to have our flights booked.

Next up: 1/8

Yeah for having the flights booked, Ann!

And the times seem okay to me, even though two stops on the way home is not my cup of tea. ;)
Great that you got a good "mile" price!

Tom and I just booked our flights for Barcelona and Paris for July/August 2014 last week. I wanted to pay with miles too, but the price was just too tempting, so we saved the miles. :rotfl2:

Thanks, Karin! I honestly didn't even realize it had two stops until I just posted about it. Oh well, we will live. At least it is booked and I can move on to more fun planning. With the changes though, I am going to have to make a ton of ADR changes.

I am not sure what you mean by "mile" price. I wanted to earn miles for these flights. Sadly... they were 100% oop. Fall shouldn't be though...so I take consolation in that.

I have to get over to everyone's threads!! I have not had much time between work and getting my house back in order and... well there is the running. I haven't stopped running. Course... little miss Zoe got a horrid bug of some sort and now I seem to be coming down with it. I may not be running for a few days... maybe some down time to get caught up on dis is just what the doctor would order. :goodvibes So I appologize that I didn't realize that you were in the midst of planning your Barcelona and Paris trip! How cool that you got your flights!!!

You sound like me, Ann, when the price is right for the flight. I booked us on a really LONG flight once, not checking if the times were the ones I wanted. ;) Thankfully Lufthansa lets you cancel without penalty within the first 24 hours of booking. :thumbsup2

Sorry, I misread - I thought you paid for your flights with miles. :sad2: Can I blame my mistake on the fact that English is not my first language. :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear about Zoe catching some bug and now you are coming down with it too. Please take it slow and get well BOTH of you!

No need to apologize for not knowing about us planning our summer trip. ;) It is still 9 months away, but the price for a flight to Barcelona (for our Med cruise) was just perfect - a little over 400 Euros! and the other one is for our "add on" that summer to Disneyland Paris. Our APs are still good (remember, they gave us 18 months instead of 12!) and I have already secured a villa in the resort we always go to. Haven't posted that anywhere yet - so you are the first to be in on the planning.

Can't wait for your TR!!!!!!!

Glad the flights are booked. Sometimes I feel booking my flights is more stressful than planning the vacation.

So I have been back for 10 days... and just today got my email box cleaned out. Did a little facebook cleaning as well... and now it is time to get caught up on dis.

Oh man, good luck with that. I cannot seem to get caught up to save my soul!

There have been some changes made.. like you all didn't know that I would end up making changes.

With travel time, and a race, not a bad idea at all and YAY for 10 nights!

So I booked a pool view in this kind of room

Oh UGH on the the return. I was starting to stress that you hadn't booked since I'm watching your outbound dates for my nephew (and no, my brother hasn't booked him anything yet...SAD). Milwaukee???? That is an odd route! Still, even with the 2nd stop, the total flight time on the way back isn't horrid...and free bags make up for a LOT! :thumbsup2

Are you registered for the Turkey Trot yet? I need to look into that this week...

I had paid so much attention to the flight down and the departure time I just didn't look at the total travel time. Oh well, over all it will work out just fine.

Sorry, I misread - I thought you paid for your flights with miles. :sad2: Can I blame my mistake on the fact that English is not my first language. :rotfl2:

No worries... blame it more on me and how the way I write can be confusing. ;)

Sorry to hear about Zoe catching some bug and now you are coming down with it too. Please take it slow and get well BOTH of you!

Thanks. She is doing better as am I. I think Steve is catching it now though. Oddly enough though, I seemed to have a day or so of not feeling well... but Zoe was REALLY sick all week.

Glad the flights are booked. Sometimes I feel booking my flights is more stressful than planning the vacation.

I know I don't feel like I can plan as much until the flights are booked. Like all else can change but once those flights are booked...we are locked in!

Oh man, good luck with that. I cannot seem to get caught up to save my soul!

I am gonna need it. There are SOME people who have very active threads ;)

With travel time, and a race, not a bad idea at all and YAY for 10 nights!

10 nights is a good time. We have done 11 before and it was a tad much. 9 is a good amount. For the phm... we did just 6. It really wasn't quite enough.

that is a VERY good surprise!

I am hoping she likes it. She is a tad anti princess these days. :sad2:

I notice a lot of odd routes on both SW and Alaska this time. If I wanted to use points on Alaska...I had 3 options for the way down. Two were that odd...leave in the evening and get to San Fran then have a layover till the next morning. Strange.

Are you registered for the Turkey Trot yet? I need to look into that this week...

I need to do that! It is coming up quick. I was considering the Winter Pineapple Classic... but then I might not do that one since the registration fee is $50..and that adds up quick if I had each of us go. Plus that one is an obstacle course. But a long sleeve tech tee along with a Hawaiian luau? Sounds like maybe not such a bad deal then....

Glad you got your airfare booked. I am about to book mine for my girls May trip.

So glad you have your flights booked. It's always nice to get that out of the way. I need to start searching around for May flights!

Glad you got your airfare booked. I am about to book mine for my girls May trip.

I hope you find a really good deal. I have been quite surprised at what airfare has been over the last few months!

So glad you have your flights booked. It's always nice to get that out of the way. I need to start searching around for May flights!

Looks like you and Kathy are needing flights around the same time. Are you both going to be there again the same time?
