The Great DP Debate! From a different Point of View.

sorul82?, lol. It just so happens that I am, in fact, a member of Mensa but am far too smart to have ever attended any meetings. I am too conflicted. :lmao:

Slightly Goofy (who would much rather be simple minded as then I could always be convinced I was right instead of studying the ramifications of each and every issue to the point of being able to see other people's POV which can be VERY confusing)

SlightlyGoofy,

I'm sorry, I don't know much about Toyota shopping. Dodge, yes, Toyota, no. As for a roofer, I need one myself. There is a 54 year old lady in my neighborhood who does her own roof repair! Last Thanksgiving day, she was up on her roof with some tar. Too funny!

sorul82?, I am 4 years older and many decades too smart to get up on a roof. It is not the fall that worries me but the sudden stop. :rotfl2:

After having 3 Toyota Camry's and loving them it would be uncomfortable for me to change horses mid stream. It is hard to learn new things when you get aged.

I sort of know someone from Raleigh. My husband and I were standing in line waiting for the boat over to FW when we got to talking to a family. The father owns/works at the barber shop at the railroad station and they had a daughter had been killed in an odd automobile wreck. I told them that we were headed their way in a few months and they invited us to stay with them when we came!! I told them that was not a wise thing to do even though I was not wont to be an axe murder or anything. They impressed me with their open hearts though. If you should happen to know them or of them please send them a smile from me? :grouphug:

The most precious thing I get from my Disney vacations are the memories of the people I meet along the way. I do not have many photos of them but carry them in my heart. It is better as they do not fade.

I don't know those people, but that's how we are here! If you're hungry, we'll feed you; if you need a place to stay, we'll clear the wrapping paper off pull out sofa in the guest room. We don't have a pull out sofa, and the wrapping paper is in the closet, but my husband's grandmother is always saying that!

We met a couple in Cancun in 1996. They were telling us that they spent the night at the airport because of Hurricane Fran. I told them that if they were ever stranded again to look us up, and we'd come get them. That's just what we do!

sorul82?, it is that way here also. I think it is a small town thing as it is awfully hard to be mean to people you know and since we do not have much crime etc. we tend to trust people.

On the rare occasions that we have bad weather here and people are stranded I ache to share some of my 4 extra bedrooms but my hubby barely allowed our kids to stay in the house let alone other people but I sneak a few in occasionally.

He does not know it but the members of the EWP Suite on the DIS are secretly planning a big pajama party here one day. I will ship him out to his brothers and he will never know.

I recently read a report that says your area is one of the best for retired folk. It is beautiful country there except for when you are racing the remenents of a hurricane up the mountains. We had to go home an alternative route as the roads were washed out.

I hope the crick ain't a risin' in your neck of the woods. :wave2:

My husband's gandparents are late 70's, and my mom is 65. All have plenty to do. There's a lot of red hatters and senior centers around.

The real reason Disney can offer free dining is because

They are getting kickbacks from Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig & Nutrisystem.

Well, the thing about ordering A meals with C credits I think that is wrong but if Disney is really concerned they could put a stop to it. I honestly don't see why they can't be listed seperately on the tab. The part about adding a "phantom" guest on your ticket, I think that is very wrong, but I can't see too many people doing that anywho because it is already a MOUNTAIN of food, can't see too many people eating that much. Sharing meals at CS would be easy and I see no problem with it. Sharing at TS would be harder, I'm not sure about that one. I think Disney is getting what they want out of this, full rooms at a time of year when it is usually slow. We hope they offer free dining every year, but I'm sure they'll just dream up some other gimmick! I personally don't see "getting the most out of the meal plan" to be the same thing as "how to rip Disney off." We are not able to go during free dining. IF we buy the DP we would be paying 201$ a DAY, no way could we ever finagle things to make Disney lose $$$!!!

Am I the only one to notice that WW, Jenny Craig and other weight loss places always seem to have either a pizza place or a donut shop right next door?

Coincidence? I think not. :rotfl2:

YES, have noticed this many times! Too funny!

Here's a quote from another thread. This is the very first post from a brand new DISer:

So here is my question we are going this fall on the free dining plan. 3As and 2Cs it would be free if we had 5As it would be free if we had 1As and 4cs. What I am saying is disney is not getting my money from the dining no matter who is comming, so why would they care if I ordered 5As at a counter services.

I think this is an excellent point!

Yeah I always kind of thought of it that way. It's kind of like "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound". If WDW has "given" me the DDP for free, in what way am I stealing from them if I get my DD8 a chicken strip meal at a CS? How can you steal what is "free"?Anyway that's just a philosophy thing. Please don't use it in an attempt to hi-jack this entertaining thread into an argument all over again. I fully plan on following all of the published rules of the DDP as provided to me by WDW. :tiptoe:

To the OP, you remind me of my gifted DS12, when his mind gets on something philosophical, hold on, the discussion has more twists and turns than a roller coaster and it's just as much fun too! :hyper2:
