The Good, The Bad, & the Nuts! ...ANYONE GOING MAY 8-15?

Well, crap. I ran to town today, went to Driver's License place, KMart, WalMart & the car delearship for an oil change. Now that I'm home I went to take my rings off to put on some lotion and.....my Bret-ring is missing. My last stop was the car lot and I'm sure I still had it there, so I'm hoping I will find it in the truck or the yard or somewhere....I guess it's a good thing I didn't spring for the gold one. I think buying a ring that fit my fingers in hot temps and expecting them to fit in cold temps maybe wasn't such a good idea - I guess I should have gotten it a little bit smaller. :confused3

I am very sorry that you lost that ring! I hope you will find it!

Sounds like a nice Food and Wine morning Tanya. I may have some stories about the phone booths in the World Showcase later on in my TR.

Hope you find your ring.

No luck on the ring....so unless it just happens to turn up some strange place it looks like it's gone.:guilty: I checked the truck, the yard, and even the garbage can where I threw away my mcdonalds sack when I got home. I know if I don't find it, when I replace it I will go a little smaller.

Oh no, Tanya!! What an awful thing to lose!! I almost flushed mine down the toilet once on accident (long story) but saved it just in time. Can you try to call your city's lost and found dept?? I really hope it turns up- I'd be so sad to lose mine!

I live in a town with a population of about 300 give or take a few....there is no lost and found. I did stop in at the post office and asked the postmaster if anyone turned one in, in case it slipped off when I was getting in or out of the truck there. If it fell off "in town" that would be Galesburg, which is 20-some miles away (pop. 33,000) - I did call the car lot to see if anyone found it there either, no luck. But you never know - this spring I could be doing something in the kitchen and it could come rolling out of it's hiding place. :confused3

I lost my mothers-ring several years ago. I was getting stuff out of the back of our van during our local carnival and I noticed it was gone. I tore up the van looking for it - nowhere. I asked a few people who were in the vicinity of the van. The next day during the pedal tractor pull, one of the carnival workers brought my ring to me and asked if that was it. It had evidently come off when I was getting money out of my pocket to by ride tickets for the boys because it was in front of her ticket booth.:confused3 And then there was the time I lost my class ring at a weenie roast - found it under a clump of dried up.....well, unpleasant stuff. Don't know how it got there - but Dad had a metal detector, and it found it. So, yeah - I have a history of losing rings. :sad2:

Tanya, so sorry to hear about the ring. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that it "pops" out from somewhere soon.

Initial sketchy plans.

Mon - DH planning to go to AK early and spend time trying to get the perfect pictures on the safari and the walking trails. I will probably hit Epcot and try some of the Food & Wine stands.....well, the food stands anyway.
That evening we plan to go back to the studios for the Osborne Lights. I don't know how smart that is since it's the first night they will be lit and I imagine it will be a zoo - but it's also extra magic hours that night so DH seems to think that will give us a better opportunity (more time) to see the lights. Since we are at Boardwalk we can take the walking path to get "home" so the crowds won't affect us as far as transportation
.

Monday started with coffee and toast in the room. Danny had gotten a new lens for his camera that he wanted to try out on the safari, so we headed out together. He headed for the bus stop and I moseyed over to Epcot.

Last time I took you around Epcot with me…..this time I will try to recreate DH’s adventures.

He started out

Stopped briefly to take a few pictures of

and hurried over to

where he got a fastpass and then got in line where he saw

And then he went back and did it again – requesting to sit on the other side of the truck this time.

back to here

and time to play with that new lens a little more

DSC_0503.jpg

DSC_0510.jpg

And this is where I need to take a break – because I still have about 300 more pictures from his morning to get uploaded....:rolleyes1

And for informational purposes - the first picture of the Animal Kingdom sign was taken at 9:08AM. The last pictures of the Tree of Life that I have uploaded (so far) were taken at 12:13. At that point he was on picture #513.....for the day......

Great update, Tanya. You got some really SUPER pitures of the gorillas and the safari (I especially love the baby elephant at the edge of the water. That is a WHOLE LOT of pictures you took if you still have 300 more to upload. :thumbsup2

Thanks Kat - but those are all Danny - I didn't even make it to AK on this trip. His official picture count for AK that day was 853 :rolleyes1 and not a single silly hat picture in the bunch! But that was his plan for the day - he wanted to go over there and take lots of pictures. I think in some cases he took so many of the same thing because he was playing with his lens - gotta love digital cameras. Sure wouldn't be doing that if you had to buy the film for each picture.

More to come - I've got the last batch of that day uploading now.....

Wow Danny got some great pictures. Looks like that new lense was worth it.

I'm sorry you lost your ring. If your luck holds out maybe it will show back up. You may have a history of losing rings but you also have a history of finding them.

Cont…..

I left you at 12:13 with Danny circling the Tree of Life trying out his new lens. But apparently I missed lunch. It looks like at 11:54 he stopped at Tamu Tamu for a cheeseburger and diet coke. I don’t know where Tamu Tamu is….I am assuming it is somewhere along the route from Harmabe to Asia because his next stop was here

DSC_0514.jpg

DSC_0516.jpg

and then on to visit some of my favorite creepy critters

this one looks like a plain ol’ cow to me

DSC_0594.jpg

The meerkats evidently had the day off…..:confused3

But there were some feathered friends….

Must be backtracking now

DSC_0619.jpg

hmm – I thought he just left here

DSC_0623.jpg

maybe that’s why he was backtracking…to get the sign

DSC_0742.jpg

of the animal Vinylmations - we brought home the gorilla....upper right corner :thumbsup2. He is joined by about 40 other Mickey shaped chunks of plastic adorning our "Disney wall" in the living room :sad2:.

and the final picture of that morning’s adventure….number 853, taken at 1:47 PM, a mere 4 hours and 39 minutes after picture number 1 is

.

From here he took a bus back to the Boardwalk. Not sure how long that took, probably awhile. I didn’t get back to the room until 3 or so, and I don’t think he had been there too long.

Next up will be our evening plans. How many pictures will we take when we are together????

u have 40 of those, holy cow.

that is alot....do you care to take apicture of all of them, that would be pretty neat.

He is very happy with his lens. Now he just needs to follow up on the other half of the deal and sell the one he had to begin with....

ask and you shall receive..... the vinylmations are scattered among all the other Disney doodads

This is the back wall of my living room....

IMG_1201.jpg

(and yes, that is a bust of John Kennedy on my "Disney wall" - we decided since he was in the Hall of Presidents and in the American Adventure, that he wasn't out of place back there....)

IMG_1202.jpg

IMG_1203.jpg

It looks like the final count is actually 34....plus 2 more in my sons room - he has the baseball and the golf ones....and if we want to get picky I have a mini one on a keychain on my Disney-purse, and Mark's sports ones came with mini ones too...so that brings the total to 39.

and if you don't look at all the cobwebs up there :rolleyes1 this is the top of the wall between our living room and kitchen. The ceiling follows the roofline so it is at a slant - this wall I have to climb on the couch to get all of the mugs up there. I think this collection has been completed now that they no longer have this size mugs available anymore.

All caught up! I don't envy the start of your vacation but I am glad that things improved from there!

Those shots from AK were fantastic!

The photo sorting system you guys use sounds much like ours. Erich brings his laptop and we plug in all three cameras every night. Each day gets its own folder with subfolders for each camera and then within those subfolders are more subfolders for videos. :rotfl: I think among the whole family we probably take as many pictures as your DH.
