The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Mt I hate snow. If it was not so clod I would like winter. But the cold seems to no matter what go right thru me.
I do work with a women who loves the snow. Everytime it snows she gets giddy. I want to throw things at her.:rotfl2:

OMG Kellie:lmao: I get giddy just when I see flurries!:rotfl2: Imagine being around me in a snow storm.

I think it has to do a lot with thinking back when I was a kid- I loved the snow! I loved when we would have off from school so I can go out and play. I remember if it was snowing at night, I would always pop my head up from my bed and look out the window to see the snow falling. I liked when it would start snowing when we were IN school and we would have to go home. I think the giddiness stems from all that:worship: :rotfl2: It makes me happy!:dance3:

Oh dear. I will have to let her know I found someone just like her.:rotfl2:
We had a meeting going on last year during a bad storm and she kept staring out the window and bouncing in her chair. The CEO finally said to her go ahead run out but come right back:rotfl2:

When we got back to DMILs (suburban Detroit), there was about a foot and a half of snow on the ground. My boys were in 7th heaven and went out to play in it with DH ( I watched from the warm inside) for hours. The day after Christmas, we visited DSIL and her family, they have a sled hill not far from their house. So the boys got to go sledding for the first time. All the kids (about 12 of them) went sledding with some grown ups ( I stayed in the warm house again) for a couple of hours and had a ball. DS10 flew on the sled and bumped his nose in the snow and got a little scraped up, and he never batted an eye, he was having too much fun!!

If I had to move to the snow of Michigan again, just for them to have those experiences, I would do it. As long as I didn't have to participate.;)

Oh, you know you'd have to get out there in it sometime if you moved back there! :guilty:

:rotfl2: I'm with 'ya there....DH is like that. Until about mid-January. Must be a big difference between having to move it and getting to play in it. :rotfl2:

Well- I am in NJ and our winters have been getting very mild with every passing year:guilty: In a few years I think they may start referring to us as the "South East":rotfl2: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: If I wanted to live in the South East I would move to the Carolinas. :sad1: Darn Global Warming!

A few weeks ago NYC was getting hit with snow and in NJ we had nothing- and we are only an hour and a half away.

I do know people further North have been getting hit pretty hard the past few months.

Our bookkeeper MOVED to Iowa just a few years ago, Prescott- (she still works for us from her home, so I am always talking to her about the weather) We think she is crazy that she chose to move there. But she seems happy! That is all that matters.

She always tells me their thinking is a world away from those of us here in NJ/NY- she cannot get used to that and it is one thing that she will always keep with her and that makes her so different from her neighbors.

:lmao: :rotfl2: Whenever I have to mail her something- I slap one of my "PETA with a pic of a cow" or "Don't Eat Meat" stickers on the envelope for a laugh :lmao:
:lmao: I'll bet that goes over real big with them in Iowa! :lmao: They are more "hog folks", though. Hogs and corn. We don't eat pork at our house. DH and I both get sick when we eat any pork. We will eat turkey ham or sausage instead. The last time his brother came out from Iowa for a visit, we had turkey ham & eggs for breakfast a couple of times and he referred to it as "crap".

It almost looks like we got our expected 8" of snow overnight. It is very dark outside (may be foggy) and there is quite a bit more snow than last night. It will be interesting to see what the driveway looks like when it gets light out there. :scared:

ETA: Ok, it is getting light out and you can see the snow is blowing sideways out there. DH got up and looked out the front window and said something I can't post here.

Ok, everybody just got out of bed, looked out the windows, and went back to bed...including little DGS who hates going to bed! :headache: DH is grumbling about moving snow and I asked him why we are living so far north!?? He said we are living here because I wanted to live here. DH doesn't lie to my face very often but this one is a whopper!! :lmao:

She has cows near here. She tells me about the babies that are born- and I do not want her to go on about what will happen to them:guilty: That is why I give the "poor-little-cow" stickers:laughing: I do not think she ever mentioned hogs near her.

BTW- usually Jan-Feb is when DH and I do our Mexico trip b/c we are tired of the cold by then, but by the sounds of things you should be going by Oct!:rotfl2:

Enjoy the white stuff!:flower3:

I have been telling DH that we could keep a small place up here so he can come back and ski in the winter if he still wants to. It would help if we could find an area further south where we could still grow hay. We have decided we need to stay near the Rockies as the snowfall/melt in the mountains creates pools and creeks in the valleys in the summer months. So far, any area like that we have found has also been 'discovered' by other people and they are moving in and developing like crazy. If you try to put farming beside development, development always seems to win out. :confused3

I have told DH that I would love to go to Mexico every January. He loves it while we are on the trip....but he just rolls his eyes when I try to get him to take the time off to travel. :headache:

If it would stop snowing, I could take a pic to post. While the snow is blowing, all you can see is white! :rotfl:

We just had some flurries- I think I may have felt someone peg me with something:headache: Where's Kellie?:rotfl2:

Here I am. Loading up on my throwing things.:rotfl2:

I used to work for another company for a short time.

It was known around the office that this one young guy would just fall asleep, whenever, in his cubicle. He was in financing and the big bosses would always go to him for info, he could have gotten caught b/c he did not make it a secret that he was snoozing.

Sometimes, I would pop my head up from my cubicle (he was right across the aisle from me) and I would see him sleeping! Of course, I had to tell everyone in my dept- and then I would peg him with a piece of paper :lmao: He would be sound asleep and get scared when the paper hit him- I would say "Dude! Wake up- you're gonna get snagged!":lmao: :rotfl2:

I did it for his own good!:snooty: :flower3: he was so sweet and very shy. I had to look out for him;)

Hi gals..............and Johnny.....

You know how I feel about snow! I don't think "giddy" even comes close. All week they have predicted snow for today and then when I watched the weather last night, do you know what it had morphed into? Snow flurries over night and sunny and warmer today!!!! And today would have been a perfect snow day since we're all home and no one has to go out.:sad2: We haven't had a real snow yet this season either, maybe an inch or so.:confused3 :Let's hope January and February are better for us snow lovers in the east.

I probably don't need to tell ya'll that I survived New Year's Eve, do I?:lmao: It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I even got off at 11:00 and was home with DH in time to see the ball drop. Thanks for all the advice. I just don't know what I'm going to do with DS.:confused3 He is soooo rotten sometimes but then turns around and is so sweet.:confused3 Today he even took a huge nap(of course, it would be a day that I really didn't care one way or another). I do throw both of them outside every day for a few hours unless it is insanely cold(below 20 or so) or raining and that does help some, especially at night.

HRH-we want pics!

Welcome back, Lori! :upsidedow The Freebie Thread for this week is here. Happy New Year back at 'ya.

These pics are bad but I'll throw them out there:

snow1.jpg

When the wind stopped blowing, everybody went outside. DH is trying to clear a path to the cows' heated water tank. It looks like the snow is above his knees (I am not going outside to find out).

snow2.jpg

DGS was trying to shovel the deck. He didn't last very long. He came in to have some soup and I told him to lay down for a few minutes. He wants to go back outside to try shoveling some more but I think he is just too little for the job he was trying to do. Lifting a shovel of snow repeatedly up over your head to throw off the deck is pretty strenuous when you are 7. ;)

For some reason, the pictures came out dark from inside the house. Maybe it is just too bright and the camera is adjusting for the light difference between inside and out. :confused3

Marna- you seem to be in better spirits today!!! So glad- but please talk to your boss about your late nights. You might be able to handle your DS not napping alittle better if you were not so stressed and tired, you think? If you have lots of things piling up at once, they all seem bad!

I had lunch with my best friend today and we were talking about kids- she has 2 boys- one is a perfect sweetheart, he is 17 and will do anything for her, her other son is about 12 and he is a complete opposite of his brother!

She was asking me about my nephew, who is 3 now. I said, he used to be such a sweet little boy, but the past few months, I can really see a change in him. He seems more whiney and throws a tantrum when he does not get what he wants, I said I was surprised, ......I will tell you want my friend said about boys............... she said, with a very serious face, looking up from her soup.....

"Don't be surprised, all boys are all a PITA" :lmao: :rotfl2:

So Marna, you are not alone. And if your DS is not pulling whiskers off of cats, or torturing little bunnies, I am almost certian you do not have a serial killer on your hands!:rotfl2:

Now, go and turn on Live 365- Mouseworld Radio and you will get happy:dance3:

Great pics- sure, now me and Marna will be sobbing more that we want snow:sad1:

Tell the little guy he does not have to shovel but just to go out in the snow and have fun! He will take you up on that offer- don't you think!!!:yay:

Are your pics darK b/c you took the pics from your screen door??:confused3

I am so jealous of the snow, although I just paid my first plowing bill :scared: :scared: , so now I would just like one really huge snow and then some cold temps for about 2 weeks so it doesn't disappear!!

That first photo is through the front window. I don't know why that is so dark. The second photo is through a window with a screen on it. Grandpa offered DGS $10 to shovel off the deck....more than enough incentive for little Mr. Saves-A-Lot. :rotfl:

The snow hasn't been as bad as it looks....so far. It is very dry and fluffy...perfect! I think the guys are gonna go skiing tomorrow, if the wind doesn't pick up again. DH's snow blower gave out and he is taking it into town tomorrow to have it fixed. We have a rather long driveway and, fluffy or no, I guess it got to be too much for the blower. :rotfl2:

Now, if the temps stay where they are, everything will be good. Snow is piled up so high, and we have a few more months of winter yet, it should be an interesting spring.

ETA: I want to see pictures when you guys catch up in the snow department! :goodvibes

Hi, Sheree! :wave2:

WOW, the snow is gorgeous, but I AM glad not to live in it. We had 4-6 inches fall last month, which is pretty miraculous in itself ,and my kids were outside all day. It stayed on the ground, another miracle, for 2 days and snowmen were still on peoples lawns up to 4 days later. We had a blast!
Your pics are just so pretty!! Like a postcard.

Thank you for the link, I SO appreciate it! getting ready to HOPEfully be going back to WDW in the fall and like to have a build up of laundry detergent and such for the trip.
