DH says we have bikes and FW has transportation, we don't need a golf cart. I say we have one, why not take it. We'll be there for 6 nights in February. Which one of us is right?

It's not easy to take the cart and it takes up a lot of space. Would it be worth the effort?

ETA:

I plan on going to the parks 3 or 4 of the days we'll be there. So, at least one day will be spent entirely at FW.

If you plan on spending any time at the Fort at all you will be so glad you brought it. Think of it this way, there are hundreds of people paying over $60 a day to have one while at the fort. You have one you can bring for a little extra effort and gas money. Its a no brainer for me.

It’s hard to say who is right we bought a golf cart when we were at the fort. First are you going to the parks every day if so you don’t need a cart. But if you are just staying at the fort a cart is a great way to get around and see everything the fort offers. But you already have a cart so why no bring it. When you get there you may kick yourself for not having it. But the other answer is no you doing need a cart but they are nice to have.

We are here for our first trip and rented one from Kenny at Tee time, I could not imagine not having it. The campground is huge and if you want to explore it, I would bring it. Even if I had one at home to bring, I might would consider renting one due to space, etc., and leave mine home.

I say BRING IT! While it may be a little more packing and effort, it will be well worth it. Some of our best times is just riding around and looking at others set-ups and it's especially nice if you have to go to the store for anything that you have to bring back (ice) It's also nice to come from the parks, by boat or bus, and jump in your cart and be back in a jiff! Sometimes, we're exhausted and wouldn't feel like riding a bike, or waiting for a bus. Just my humble opinion!

We have been going over 30 yrs and never used one, even when staying three weeks..

We recently bought a new travel trailer instead of a fifth wheel. Why? We couldn't afford a toy hauler like we wanted and a regular fifth wheel doesn't allow us to take our golf cart. Especially to the Fort.

It's that important to us. Yes, some may disagree but cruising the Fort is just another great perk the park has to offer.

I guess it's a personal preference. We've never had one and never thought about buying/renting one. We bring our bikes and we walk. We do use the Disney transportation if it is really late or the weather is bad. It's just never been an issue for us. Even when our kids were little, 18 months, 3, and 5 we didn't have one. Like I said, it's a personal preference.

Stayed 2-3 weeks at a time - with and without. We never *needed* a GC, but once we'd rented one we couldn't imagine being at the Fort without one! It's just a load of fun if you're going to be spending a decent amount of your trip hanging at the Fort. :thumbsup2

Kind of like growing up riding every where with your parents. It works fine. But then you get your own ride and wow the freedom. We went years biking it around the fort and we were happy. Then we bought a cart and there is no turning back. Bring the cart (unless you have to buy a new trailer to bring it then leave it at home.)

Its absolutely personal preference. My family has camped with one and without one. We always bring bikes. Personally, I prefer riding bikes and figure it burns off the extra calories I consume at WDW. The one time I was really glad to have the cart was in January when it was below freezing all day- very rare for Orlando. Other than that situation, I like good old Flintstone power!

Be kind to your cart....it wants to go to Disney TOO!!!! Why have a cart if you dont have FUN with it??? Most campgrounds here DONT allow them...so the only time we really GET to take our cart camping with us is to the Fort. I agree, its a major pain in the asterisk to load up and haul, but its more than worth it once youre there!!!

Don't know if you are bringing any four legged friends to the fort, but they love golf cart rides too!:goodvibes

They sure do! Our 2 girls went to the dog park at the Fort every day on the cart. Now whenever they walk past ANY cart, they just hop on! :)
