The Godfather

How do you feel about the GodFather series

  • Love it, can't pass it up

  • Leave it, getting tiresome

  • What can you mean, it is like family history here

  • Let me make you an offer you can't refuse

  • Just can not stand it

  • One of the classics

  • Just a beautiful family story

  • One must pay homage to the man himself.

My husband is watching "The GodFather" again. How many Times can one watch this movie? He watches it everytime it is on TV/Cable. Not just the original but the sequels too. To make matters worst he owns the complete GodFather series on DVD. You would think he was part of the Corleone family. :earseek:
Is there anyone else who is so addicted to this? Just curious as while he watches this I can at least DIS this afternoon.

The best line about the Godfather comes from the movie You've got Mail.

The Tom Hanks characters says something like if you are ever unsure of how to proceed look to the Godfather movies for direction. Boy is it true...

I don't watch any movie on tv if I have the DVD:D

My DD read this thread and told me not to expect much reaction. I tried to tell her just how big the DIS boards are and you can never tell how they react. Please help me show her just what these boards are made of. Fellow DISer's show your ºOº. Currently she is pouring thru the Unofficial WDW guide planning a trip with her boyfriend who is coming home from IRAQ this December. His tour of duty is up and she is very excited. :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

I couldn't vote...you didn't have a choice for me....believe it or not, I've never seen any of them!

I'm with your husband...I am the original Godfather FANATIC!! :bounce:

I saw every one of them the DAY they were released (stood on a 2 hour line for Number one back in high school) read the book and followed the careers of Al Pacino, James Cahn and Robert DeNiro BECAUSE of this series!

I also became a sort of Mafia fan... lived in Brooklyn where a lot of them lived, even owned a map to their homes! In college I led a class in the Cosa Nostra, and was consicdered the class expert... :p

I love mob movies, my favorite is the Godfather, then Goodfellas! Boy, I miss home!

Thats ok skuttle I have never seen it either!!

OOOHHHH ROBIN - FORGET 'BOUT IT!

You know it. Those days as a child going to 13th ave to get those black olives, and raviolis for Sunday Dinner. Sauce with pigs feet. Oh yeah.

OK had a mental moment. Back to the Godfather. The best movie ever!
Poochie - I am just like your husband.

Oh, this is funny! I love the godfather movies. My favorites, in order, are Godfather 2, Godfather 1, Godfather 3 (don't really like 3 too much).

But, my husband is like this with Lord of the Rings! Gosh, he can watch this series over and over again. And, each time he proclaims, "This is the best movie ever made!". He's watching number 2 right now. A couple of nights ago he watched Number 1.

1 and 2 are among the best films ever made IMO.

I'm with you, Robin. I didn't live in Mafia land, but I read everything I could get my hands on, too. I also became convinced that I had family members in the Mafia. My grandfather's sisters married brothers who were Italian, quite wealthy and lived in the Northeast. They also were Catholic and there were NO Catholics where we lived; the sisters converted after marriage and got remarried in the church -- my grandparents thought it was the strangest thing they had ever heard of. The brothers had multiple businesses, but they weren't the kind of businesses I would have thought would produce the kind of $ they seemed to have. They also employed their brother-in-law in a lower level position. After one of the sisters attempted suicide, I was totally convinced they were in the "family." I did not know these people at all -- they lived several states away and I only saw them a couple of times.

Robin, have you ever been to Hill from Goodfellas' website? Pretty weird stuff.

I agree, 1 and 2 are one of the best of all time. 3 sucks outloud.
But, they are all still worth watching.

Those that haven't seen it, well... that's just wrong. It should be required viewing for passage into adulthood. :smooth:

I'm right there with your DH. When ever it's on TV, I'll be watching it. Last night part 3 was on and guess what we were watching? :p

My favorites in order are 2, 1 and 3. Actually I liked the Godfather Saga the best... when they combined 1 & 2 and put them in the correct timeline. 3 took me a bit longer to warm up to but now I even enjoy that.

100 years from now these movies will still be wowing audiences.

Thats how I like to watch it too!! My family is Italian, and my DH calls it "Moms Family History"

I get mesmerized by these movies whenever I see them on the tube, even though I own the DVD's! They're just great movies, with the exception of the third.

Anyone else have an opinion on this movie series?

I love the Godfather movies.

Reminds me alot of people I know.
