It started in 8th grade, September of 2006. One night, I went to the soccer associations spaghetti dinner to support my best friend and her teram, like I always do. I noticed there was a kid in my class there, who kept waving/smiling at me, but I thought he was a freak so I ignored him. Fast foward through the year, lots of smiling/eye contact on his part, nothing but innocence on mine. 2 summers ago, I found out he was on the football team with my BFFs older brother. I guess BFFs bro (practically my bro) told him I had cancer, and he got really upset. From then on he kept asking how I was doing, making sure I was okay, and asking to see me. Fast foward this year, he's in one of my classes. As always, I got a pick "OH SONYA YOU DECIDED TO SHOW UP TODAY!" from another best friend, and he looked at me and started smiling. (BTW, at this point I definitely liked him) Now he won't stop looking at me or smiling. Per BFF (who didn't know I liked him), she was talking to him at a game one day helping out the team. She said he said I looked really good, I looked great with short hair, blah blah blah, non-stop compliments. BFF is not the type of girl who would make this up or lie, not at all. She says he's been trying to get me to like him since 8th grade, and we're 10th grade now.

You are not reading too much into this, he definitely likes you. You should start talking to him, and obviously flirting with him so he knows you like him back and will ask you out.

I was the same way. Until I was getting fed up with all the "talking" and "flirting" so I just gave in and asked him if he wanted to go to this baseball game with me. Hahaha, I found out he wanted to ask me out too, but he just didn't know how. We dated for like 2 months so you know, just give it a go
