You HAVE to see this movie!

It is the first in a trilogy based off a book series by Stieg Larsson, and is an American remake of the original Sweedish film, which was also phenomenal.

I never read the books, but understood everything that was happening and who everyone was. My friends who read the books said there isn't much missing from the film.

The acting is unbelievable. Rooney Mara plays the part of Lisbeth so well, it is incredible!

Daniel Craig is in it as well, but his adaptation of a Sweedish accent is... Lacking...

That was the only bad thing I can say about it. Everything else was spot on!

Just a warning... This is an EXTREMELY graphic film, not so much in blood and gore, but other horrible things. If you can sit through one of the scenes, you can sit through anything.

See it! Just don't bring your kids.

I agree. I actually just read the first two books since thanksgiving. The two scenes they showed I had a really hard time watching, and then there were a few other minor cringe moments, but I enjoyed how true they were to the book and thought Rooney was amazing!

I am hoping to see this movie but am a little hesitant as I saw the Swedish version and loved the three Swedish movies. As you've seen the US version, you may want to check out the Swedish ones - they're available on Netflix.

Ditto above-the Swedish ones were so good I'm a little nervous about the Hollywood version. Thank god they didn't cast Tom Cruise as was originally reported.

I read the series and saw the Swedish movies and loved them...rolled my eyes when I heard that Hollywood was remaking them. But then I started hearing some good things about the new movie...Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard, filmed in Sweden...so I went to see it today...was prepared to cringe with pretty boy Daniel Craig as Mikhail...the part I liked about his character was that he was an average guy and not particularly good looking. Surprise, surprise when I actually liked his portrayal.

All in all, I really liked the movie even though I liked the original better. They did a good job of keeping all of the characters straight and getting most of the important stuff in there...not too many, "Waiiiiit a minute, that didn't happen in the book" moments :thumbsup2

Like most people, I thought the book started off a wee bit slowly and kind of fell apart near the end. I did enjoy it on the whole, but don't get all the fuss.

It isn't like that whole "Briges of Madison County" business...but it just wasn't all that good.

I also have seen the Swedish movies and they are great but caution on some of the parts.

What I found interesting is the Swedish Lisbeth was Noomi Rapace, who is currently starring in Sherlock Holmes A game of shawdows, which is released at the same time of the Hollywood version of her Swedish movie.

BTW loved the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

I just saw the Swedish film and am currently reading the 2nd book. I don't feel much of a need to see the American one now.

And, kaligal, I LOVE your signature. I think the Mayhem guy is super sexy. My favorite is where he's the lady's blind spot.
