There are more things to do in London than just the London Eye!

The London Eye is so popular because of what you can see. To name a few you can see Canary Wharf, St Pauls Cathedral, Wembley Stadium and many, many more of London's sights.

Very true, I went on the London eye - our project team did it the last week we were there before dinner one night. The views were amazing - I have some great pictures.

However, I can't see that working in Orlando, since they don't have all the amazing historic sites like London has. I don't know if seeing the big Epcot ball would have the same cache as say, the London Tower. As Corey said you might be able to see from one coast to the other, but other than that :confused3 .

The London eye type attraction is not for those with a fear of heights (like mine). When you board it is not bad you get oriented quickly and find an object off in the distance to focus on. Then you soon realize that the building you picked to focus on to keep your perspective is under you due to your increased height. Keep in mind that the glass goes from the floor around to the roof and down to the other side. I spent the entire trip with a death grip on the bench in the middle of the car we were in. Once we hit the top and nothing was above us or next to us I thought it may be time to give my lunch back, but it all worked out. Meanwhile my friends were leaning on the glass taking pictures straight down to the awesome views below, or at least they said they were awesome not that I would know….:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

The London Eye is fab guys!

The View is incredible!

At least we have beautiful buildings to look at, rather than swamps! :rotfl:

P.s Julie, you will never fall out of this! You go SO slow! It takes 30 minuites to go a full rotation! You just get some stunning views!

I do agree with that, I mean yeah it would be cool if you could see Disney, Universal and Seaworld when at the top, but I don't think it would fit in.

How many times do they take you round? Just one? When I went to Europe in 1998 we went to the Prater Amusement Park in Austria which had the largest Ferris Wheel in the World at that time. (Until the London eye went up.) It took 15 mins to go round and you only went round once. The seats were cages with benches as well. The walls had windows in them but the floor did not have any glass. A cage or two were reserved as dinner cars. The view was great looking out over Vienna as well as the park. This idea might work at Disney-just dont have the wheel as large as the eye. It would be a neat dinner experience with a great view of the park/parks. I agree with others I do not think anyone wants to look out over the swamps of Florida.

Julie I agree with Wish you do not have to worry about falling out of this type of Ferris Wheel. There is no seat rocking like on normal amusement park Ferris Wheels that we have here in the states. It is much more stable. The one I was on was literaly a big cage with bench seats inside. It had a door on it that they locked once everyone was in. The door was only able to be unlocked from the outside from what I could tell. Never been on the eye so not sure how that is set up but I would think it probably is set up in a similar way.

Yep, you only get to go round once.

TBH, the majority of people who do go on this are tourists, I think there are a lot of people who go on using their Merlin Annual Pass because it's free.

FYI - The Merlin Pass is a Annual pass to Thorpe Park (theme park near me), Alton Towers (another theme park), Chessington World Of Adventures (Theme Park), Warwick Castle, Madame Tussauds, Sea Life Centres, Legoland Windsor and the London Eye.

Wow! you get a lot for that annual pass. How much does it cost though? I have heard of Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. My DH and I play a game called Roller Coaster Tycoon and they have Alton Towers in it. Of course Thorpe Park got famous here from the pic. of Princess Diana and her sons on the log flume.

Yeah you do get a lot from that annual pass as well as loads of discounts that I didn't bother listing. I think it's about £110 now for an adult but I don't think anyone pays full price anymore as Tesco (supermarket) has a loyalty card that you exchange the points you've earned for one, it's a much better deal. That's how I used to get one.

Got to say to the Podcast crew that the London Eye is a marvellous attraction, and the fact that it gets 3.5 million guests a year, is testiment to that, not that there is nothing else to do in London! :confused3

As someone with a severe height phobia, it's really a calm relaxing ride, adn I'd recommend it to anyone.

And try as I may, I can't see the view from I-Drive being comparable to the view from ours. :thumbsup2
