It is not safe to "deploy yourself into" (as a helper) or return home into stricken areas. Wait until police and security have been reestablished, and preferably wait until cell phone service is reestablished. Some looter could be holed up in the house next door waiting to steal your car.lulu71 said:They are probably hanging out in my brother's living room in Algiers, which is right over the bridge. My family kind of has a warped sense of humor and we've actually been chuckling picturing the hoodlums sitting on his sofa with their feet up on the coffee table drinking his Cokes. I know, pretty twisted, but like the song goes "if we don't laugh we'll all go insane."

I'm glad to hear that. I don't understand why this is going on when the city has been destroyed. You would think they would be concentrating on other things, like surviving and getting out of New Orleans. I heard that one man was shot and killed by police today too.MagicKingdom05 said:Luv2Roam,
I know that a guy who was caught raping a 13 year old by other stranded people killed him.

lulu, did your BIL go back yet? We have friends who evacuated out of Covington -- there NO power or water in St. Tammany parish. Slidell was the worst hit, we heard. Parish president is asking evacuees to stay away until further notice.lulu71 said:Oh, definitely. I'd be scared to death to go anywhere near there anytime soon! But I do know one person (DBIL) on his way back to Slidell (on the Northshore) and some (aunts and cousins) headed to Jefferson Parish on Sunday. No way I'm going back anytime soon, not that I could even if I wanted to since I live in Orleans Parish.
