Will he or won’t he? Those were the words going through my head as we merrily walked to our first ride of our vacation. The first ride always has to be a good one. There is no way we would pick a lame one for the first one. Starting off with Test Track was going to be an excellent way to begin our trip. However, I had a sinking feeling it was going to end up just like it did last year when we got Lil Frick in the line, through the movie and half-way to the car before he absolutely freaked out. It was stressful. Full of stress. Now that I look back on it, why did I stress about that? I know. I hate for him to miss out on the fun and be scared of something he should not be scared of. I’m sure some of you can feel where I’m coming from.
We made it to the Test Track entrance and checked out the wait times. Ten minutes. SCORE! I’ve never seen a ten minute wait time on TT, so we went in the stand-by entrance. As we walked through, Mr. Frick and I kind of kept quiet and let Stitch take care of the little one. He would put his arm around Lil Frick’s shoulder and tell him about how much he was going to love this ride. He warned him about the part where it looks like you are going to crash into the doors. He assured him that he was going to be fine and that TT was his favorite ride and that it was awesome. He told Lil Frick that he wanted him to sit by him. It was sincerely sweet. Mr. Frick and I just kept talking to each other with our eyes. We knew if we stepped in, we could ruin the whole sha-bang.
I had let Lil Frick watch Disney World ride videos on
YouTube prior to our trip. I bet he watched the TT clip fifty times. I knew that deep down, he really wanted to ride. But I also knew that his little heart was probably racing and his butterflies were probably causing a ruckus in his tummy. But, he didn’t show any signs of major distress. I was excited for him, and at the same time I felt for him because I knew he was trying to tackle a big fear. As we neared the loading dock, he looked at all of us and announced, “I am SO riding this ride!" That is when I snapped this little beauty.
He was pumped up and it looked like it was a go. Did he ride it and did he like it you ask? Well, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Check him out!! There is no way I couldn’t purchase this little gem! What a great memory because he finally conquered a big fear and we finally got to ride TT as a family! Lil Frick LOVED it! As soon as we got off, he wanted to ride it again and of course, we did. I think we rode it two more times. On our last ride, I took my spot in the back, by myself, and two little kids hopped in beside me. They looked to be around 10 or 11 and they were very friendly. The boy really liked to talk about his love for this ride and Disney. By the time we got to the seat belt check, he looks at me all serious and proud and he says, “We’re DVC. Are you?” It fricking cracked me up! I just said, “No, we really like having maid service so we haven’t bought into that yet, but great for you!” He asked me where we were staying and I proudly announced that we were at the Beach Club but that we hadn’t even seen our room yet because we had just gotten here. Yeah, I did a little ‘I just started my trip and I’m going to rub it in just in case you are about to head home’ deal. Then he quips back at me that they are there for eleven days and they just started there trip too. Crap, I couldn’t compete. Thank goodness the ride started and we took off. I announced to everyone that we should make a funny face for the picture, ‘cause I’m cool like that. The kids beside me loved the idea so we really produced a funny picture. Of course, Mr. Frick and Lil Frick were clueless about when they got their photo snapped so only 4/6ths of the riders looked like complete dorks. It was hilarious though. Trust me. Not hilarious enough for me to pay $15 for, but pretty hilarious.
We left TT on a high and decided to continue the good times with a ride on Soarin. We were on such a great high that we waited in a forty minute stand-by line instead of grabbing a Fastpass. We honestly loved playing the interactive games they’ve installed on the wall while we waited. The wait time flew by. For the first time ever, we had the second row. Eeeewwwww! Never again. This caused Lil Frick to get scared because for the first time ever, he realized we were way up high. We rode it, we loved it, but it wasn’t the same. Lesson learned. Moving on.
We skipped The Land ride in favor of riding Figment. Mr. Frick was in charge of pushing our stroller because he provides some little thrills for the boys. He pops wheelies, he acts like they are going to crash into trash cans and he goes fast. Remember when I mentioned that at some point in our trip, he morphed into at least 6 of the 7 dwarfs? Well, he did. And he even produced a new dwarf I like to call ‘DumbDumb’. Dumbdumb came out to play when he decided to park the stroller for Figment. We had traveled up the hill to play with the water outside of Honey I Shrunk the Audience first. As we were heading back down the hill to the Figment parking area, he decided to thrill the boys once more. About 20 feet from the parking area, he decided to push the stroller hard towards a brick wall… and let go. Yep, there went our boys, screaming with delight because daddy was pushing them so fast, without a clue that DumbDumb dwarf had let go. Yep, there went our boys crashing into a brick wall. The Figment CM and I went screaming after them. What was he thinking?
Apparently, last year when we were at Disney, Stitch would stick his foot out and stop the stroller before it touched any wall while we were parking. Mr. Frick just thought he would remember to do that. It was an ugly scene. The CM and I rushed over to check on the guys and Mr. Frick stood there apologizing and feeling bad. I mean the stroller slammed into that wall with some force. Thank goodness the boys were ok and she didn’t whip out her phone to call DFACS. The stroller had a nice big scratch though. I did the old “Honey, WHAT were you THINKING?” and Mr. Frick began explaining. He felt so bad. We shook it off and the boys began to laugh about it. We took a nice ride on Figment instead of in an ambulance and played in the cute little water flying through the air area. We had gotten the call that our room was ready so it was time to go and check it out and get ready for our night at the Magic Kingdom!
Mr. Frick promised the boys he wouldn’t slam them into another wall, and they hopped in their ride to the International Gateway. We returned the stroller, exited the park and began our very short and beautiful walk to our room. We were on the first floor with a full patio and courtyard view. We were soooo excited to get to our room and check it out. We found it with ease, we high-fived each other over the fact that it was so stinking close to Epcot (Mr. Frick's only request) and we opened the door to find a beautiful room with a beautiful view….and only one bed.
