The Free Dining dates released today :(

I love my WDW.
Plan on going this NOV after a 5 yr hiatus. That said, when I saw the FD dates today, I was not happy.

My take on it is: either no thought went into the choices OR( most likely) some bean counter(s) spent an exorbitant amount of time figuring out the few and very ODD dates chosen.

For anyone going and it works for you, Congrats!!!
I'll hope for a room discount now!

The dates that they selected are ones that they need to fill rooms.

You know that you could check in 11/24 through 11/27 and be covered for the rest of your trip, correct? I guess you wanted to go earlier in November? Sorry that it didn’t work out.

Free Dining has existed since 2005 after a particularly bad year for hurricanes. The offer began as a way to fill rooms when people were skittish to book during stormy months.

It has evolved since, but bottom line is that FD’s purpose to fill their resorts, restaurants and parks. Disney needs to operate at a certain volume to stay profitable and keep their employees busy.

FD is going to be dead any year now. Best to just plan on a 10% discount. You'll be happier and less disappointed that way. Save up for five years then splurge. We've used the BB free dining offer every year. If it is gone this summer we will plan on spending more next year or decide to wait a year. The gravy train is just about over. sad.

They don't offer "free" dining to help people out, they offer it to fill empty rooms. Discounts have been fewer with less availability over the last couple of years.
