Just to recap for anybody who can't remember or didn't read the PTR the cast members for this trip are

Jothp's family – Jo (me), Olie and princesses Robyn 8, Harriet 5, Evie 3
and
Sparklemum's family – Suzie, Jon, princess Emily 8 and Pirate Matthew 5.

We are on our fourth visit whilst sparklemums family are newbies.

Where:
We are all staying at the Newport Bay us on the Admirals floor in a family room and sparklemum in an ordinary room.

Day one began very early for all of us as we were meeting at 5.30am at the Eurotunnel terminal ready for our 6.20 crossing. Now at the time we booked having a crossing this early seemed like a great idea to maximise our time in the park but with hindsight it was just a bit too early to be starting a very busy week. The crossing went smoothly and the drive to the Newport Bay took about 3 hours so we arrived about 11. Neither of our rooms were ready but we got our tickets and even managed to get the first autograph before we had finished checking in.:goodvibes

from left to right the children are Matthew, Harriet, Evie, Robyn, Emily.

We headed straight off to the disneyland park

and on arriving decided on Caseys for luch. About half way through the meal it occurred to me that it wasn't the best choice because Annettes was on the plan for dinner:rotfl: (Remember this for tomorrow!) We all enjoyed our hotdogs.

The first ride of the trip was small world where we all tried to pick out the different countries. As we came out there were some spots of rain in the air so we headed over to POTC to be in the dry. We rode with quite a short queue and by the time we had finished the sun was shining again. The next two rides were the carousel and pinocchio before heading to grab a spot for the parade. We sat by the bandstand opposite ribbons and bows and the dentist. This turned out to be a great spot because once the parade had started no extra people could cross the path to get onto the bandstand area and we didn't always feel like we were trying to defend our spot:)

By the time the parade finished we were all feeling the effects of the early morning and headed straight out of the park to Annettes. We all enjoyed our meals. We had 5 childrens meals, 4 adult main courses, 2 sides, 2 beers and 2 soft drinks. We used 4 adult half board plus vouchers and only had E30 to pay which seemed very good value compared to other places on site :goodvibes

By now the children were all getting over tired so we headed back to the hotel to get the bags out of the car and collect our keys. At the desk the man was very helpful and said I hope you like your room it is a better room but at this point I just thought he was being polite. It wasn't until we got to the door and it was a double door with a doorbell and the words Rhode Island Suite on it that I twigged:rotfl: We went inside but I was convinced there had been some kind of mistake as there were only two double beds but 5 of us(well one double sofa bed and another very large bed but I didn't fancy sharing that with one of the kids for the week:rotfl2:). Olie phoned down to reception and no mistake, housekeeping had just forgotten to bring the other bed so I set about unpacking while we waited for them to arrive. The room was gorgeous. There was one main room with a sofa bed, two desks, a tv, hifi, two soft chairs, two small tables, a separate toilet, a vanity cupboard and a beautiful view over the lake. There was then a bedroom also with a tv with a separate storage room and bathroom.

It didn't seem to take long for the bed to arrive, we put it next to the sofa bed and soon all of us were sleeping ready for EMH the next morning:goodvibes

What a beautiful room and a magical start to the trip! Cannot wait to read more :cutie:

Great start, an amazing room too:goodvibes

Oh, that is a LOVELY room!!! :cool1::worship:

Looking forward to reading more..

Thanks everyone, it really was an amazing room. Sadly no other room we stay in will quite compare because we could never have afforded to book that room. I forgot to post the picture of the view on the first post

Thanks, the autograph books you can see in the picture belong to sparklemum. We both took inspiration from the creative dissigns board and made our own before we left. We made photobooks with pictures of different characters on each page for them to sign and personalised covers.

The view was gorgeous :goodvibes- I keep wondering if the upgrade was something to do with the fact I complained about the pirate and princess party or whether maybe they needed more family rooms than they had available and we just got lucky. When I booked the family room the cast member on the phone said there were only 10 of them in the whole hotel which seems a bit silly for a hotel that size:confused3

Today was Harriets 6th Birthday. She had already had all her pressies back home at the weekend so this morning we just needed to wish her a happy birthday and pin on her birthday badge:bday:.

We had got a 9.45 breakfast in the park this morning so after meeting sparklemums family in the lobby we were straight off to the park for EMH.. We arrived about 5 past 8 and headed to fantasyland for a ride on Dumbo - Matthew had been desparate to get on this the previous afternoon but the queues were too long - followed by 2 rides round peter pan. Both of these were firm favourites with the kids over the week. Next we headed over to Buzz which again we all loved, then me and Evie waited while the others headed off to ride star tours.

253.jpg

The queue for this was slightly longer than the others during EMH and by the time they came out we were running late for our breakfast. We managed to get to the plaza gardens only about 5 minutes late and were seated straight away. The buffet was nice – pretty much the same selection as we had in the newport bay apart from the plaza had a lovely apple yoghurt which we didn't see again all week. Having a late slot was great for getting things done in magic hours but did mean that we missed the chance to queue early for autopia which had been our plan for this morning. After breakfast the next job of the day was a trip down to city hall to get Hattie her birthday sticker and phone call from mickey mouse. Suzie and I took the children with us and sent Jon and Olie off to get fastpasses for BTM. I was a bit disappointed this year that the birthday sticker was exactly what all the kids had been given when we checked in (a cardboard badge that was held on with a little clip that kept falling off) the cast member wrote happy birthday on the top for her and after her phonecall we headed off to meet the men in frontierland. BTM was suffering technical problems so they couldn't get any fastpasses and we decided on a trip on phantom manor instead. Whilst queueing we took the opportunity to take a few snaps.

I'm not sure how much the kids enjoyed this but we came out to the sight of BTM running again so the men tried again to get fastpasses while me and Suzie took the kids for a ride on the riverboat. Unfortunately the men had taken the cameras with them so no photos but a nice relaxing trip in the sunshine. We had a bit of time to kill before our fastpass window so we headed off into adventureland to the jungle meet and greet where we saw baloo and king louie with only a short queue.

335.jpg

Next we headed back to BTM and got on right at the beginning of our fastpass window. Olie stayed with Evie as she isn't yet tall enough but the rest of us rode. Everyone apart from Emily loved the ride and she didn't want to go on again for the rest of the week. By the time we had finished it was time to head off for our 1.10 reservation at the cowboy cookout. We used halfboard plus vouchers to pay for the childrens meals and just had to pay for the adults. The potato wedges with the meals were nice but the meat was very dry and not at all enjoyable. The character interaction was chaotic. Minnie was going around the tables and sending other children away but mickey, woody, pluto and goofy were all just waiting for people to come to them and there was one child that insisted on getting in everyone elses pictures.:confused3 After eating we went off to see Mickey, then Pluto as he is one of Evie's favourites and she was wearing her Pluto t shirt but doing so we missed Minnie coming round to our table and never did get to see her during the meal. Harriet managed to meet Woody but we also missed Goofy as the characters went for a break and we decided not to wait for them to come back.

I don't think we would eat here again. It is very expensive for a counter service meal and was by far the worst food we ate all week, proper character interaction would have made up for this but that didn't happen either.

Next we headed over to fantasyland and took a ride on the teacups - I'm not sure this is the best ride to choose straight after lunch but I was lucky enough to sit out:rotfl:. After that we headed off to the maze which was a first even for us on our fourth visit. We all really enjoyed it and the kids had a bit of space to let off some steam:goodvibes

Next we did casey junior followed by yet another first for us - le pays des contes de fees.

After this the time was getting towards 5 o clock so we headed over to small world - we were lucky enough to be able to ride twice without getting out of the boat because there was noone waiting when our first trip came to an end. We decided to leave the park as we were off to BBWWS and made our way out just as the parade was coming to an end.

We arrived and exchanged our tickets bought on the E29 offer with no problems. We were allocated seats in the red section right in the back row. This was a great place to sit because there was a gap to the next row in front of us so even the kids had no trouble seeing. I definately wouldn't bother paying extra for category 1 seats. We all loved the show and the food was really good (even if it was almost identical to what we had in the cowboy cookout at lunchtime - another slightly dubious bit of planning:rotfl:)

Once the show had finished we wandered slowly back to the hotel to get some sleep before our 7am breakfast slot the next morning.

That's a shame. We had a fab time at Cowboy cookout on Wednesday food was okay although i would probably order a kids meal for me instead in the future and we had fab character interaction with all characters meticulous coming to all the table as well as more chaotic dancing. This reinforces my opinion that its luck of the draw re character meals as we had a horrible time at Cafe Mickey on monday but I bet on other days/times it would have been great.

We were sat on the green side half way up that night having exchange our E29 tickets :goodvibes I'm sure the price made the show/food seem even better. I agree about the category 1 seats. The show was fantastic my 5 year old loved it and wanted to go every night!

Did you not ransack the kids cameras for photos of the boat? Or were there only pictures of baby ducks

How strange we had our best meal of the week at cafe mickey on Thursday I think you are right about it being luck of the draw.

How was the rest of your trip?

I had enough trouble getting the pictures off our camera - I haven't dared to look at the kids pictures yet:rotfl:. When I do there might be some extra pictures to add:goodvibes

Jo's autograph books looked so good I just had to go down the same route although I mostly used autograph pages that someone else had created (on Creative Dissigns Board) where's Jo created her own. They certainly got the kids noticed by the characters and they looked really good - something to keep and also add to on return trips.

Suzie.

I agree the autograph books certainly got noticed by the characters and I had several other guests ask where we got them from too:goodvibes. Surely though another trip would definately need new designs?

Our kids were fascinated but the ducks as well and missed some of the ride.

Harriet and Matthew spent the whole trip taking photos of random things and Evie spent most of the time in one of the inside areas trying to have a nap on the seat:rotfl:
