The Fort Rocks!!- 1st timers report back

I felt bad for the little guy. I know its just an armidillo but he wasnt hurting anyone and that little boy just started hitting him. QUOTE]

You were right to do what you did. It is a living creature who didn't deserve to be treated like that. I hate that saying, its just a "__________". People use that with dogs and cats and other kinds of animals. It is like their justification (excuse)for treating an animal badly. There is NO excuse for abusing an animal! They have feelings too. I usually say to people "well how would you like it if I did that to you?" Its just a "________" should not even be said. It should not apply.

You did the right thing and should be proud of yourself for sticking up for that defensless creature. :thumbsup2

You gotta respect a creature that can be traced back to prehistoric times. Talk about adaptability and a desire to survive. It's like a natural history lesson watching them. Not to mention they are beneficial creatures and eat enormous amounts of insects.

Yay for this post! if it has a HEART, it has a SOUL and deserves to be treated like any other living creature. i turned in my neighbor because i saw her kick a little puppy down her front steps. The dog was taken away from them the next day. Animals deserve better!

You got it!

Good for you for turning them in. What is wrong with people?
I am glad they took the puppy away. Hopefully it found a good home.

I'm a true pet lover and I cant stand when people hurt animals and when I see little kids treat them wrong it pisses me off because its not the kids its the parents. Can you imagine what they are like for the kids to have that much hatred towards a living creature. Most of these kids will be in jail sooner or later, I would like to grab the parents and smash them, this world has gone mad!!!!!!!!!

There is a correllation between cruelty to animals early in life and violent crime as an adult.

Last feb. at the fort my 7 yr. old daughter broke the tail off a gecko (accidentily).........should i take her in for pyshco test ;)

I have chased many a hoover hog and never have been able ta catch one.....

kids will be kids......gotta love'em:hug:

After the way I have seen "humans" (I use the term loosely) treat each other no amount of animal cruelty would surprise me. Ftwguy is absolutely on the money that animal cruelty in youth portends some significantly more serious problems in adulthood.

There is some great stats on the family history of felons.....

The one thing that they all share is a broken home .........lack of love...lack of mentoring.......lack of parenting.......

There is a BIG difference in being playful and being mean and hurting an animal on purpose. NO ONE should treat any animal like that. That is not kids being kids. Give me a break!:headache:

don't beat yourself up..........;)

I just wonder if the child in this OP was helped or further hurt by the above actions.....

Kicking a HH is not normal behavior......better to ask him why he is or what is causing him to play kick ball with a living creature.....

yelling at him helped no one....but thats just my opinion

You are right. Hurting any animal is not normal behavior.
Maybe the OP can tell us if it seemed to help or hurt the little rug rat.
I think the parents should get yelled at too! Where were they? What is wrong with people these days?

I didnt yell at him I just asked him what his problem was. He was old enough to know better. I didnt "hurt" him. What I think hurting him is his parents not being there to pay attention to him! That is my opinion and my family and another older man was there when I said that. Also with the other kids trying to hop on our moving cart. Yes I yelled at them because Im like a mama bear protecting her cubs. He could have hurt my 4 and 7 year old plus himself!

Sorry you think my actions were uncalled for but its just not right. He was old enough to know better but not old enough to be alone.

You did just fine! Don't you worry about it.

No need to be sorry.......;)

my favorite qoute

" Why is it in life .....that we try to kill the messenger...... rather than listen to the message "

No biggie. I just wanted it out there that I wasnt crazy and yelling at little kids. Just wanted to bring up the parents not being there issue. My hubby is already saying when we go back will do Haunted Mansion (since it was closed due to refurbishment). He was really disappointed. Its one of his favorites! So we are going back hopefully next year!

I think if my kids saw a real armadillo, they'd be like - So this should be entertaining.

Gosh, we've got such "city kids", I don't know how that happened. So another reason to pick the Fort.

I remember the last road trip we took, we were going down the highway in our car, and there was a possum sitting next to the road, just sitting there looking around. We zoomed past and then DH and I looked at each other at the same exact time and said "Hey, was that alive?" :scratchin I don't think I'd ever seen a live possum. It was almost enough to make us turn around and go back.
