So I'm going to the Fort in Mid to Late August next year (2 weeks). Besides the heat what are the differences between then and Fall/Spring at the Fort?

Are the yellow flies out? Are there mosquitoes?

Thanks,
Dan

I might be there in August also, my employer may send me to a conference at Shades of Green but I will stay at the Fort for the week of the conference then stay a week for vacation. It would be the first two weeks of August however. I know it will be HOT and HUMID!

It is hotter than Hades & can rain most anytime. No Ol' Yaller flies, not much in the way of skeeters, but the no see-um's on the beach can be a bit annoying.

Did I say it rains a LOT??? Make sure you have ponchos & keep your awning at a pretty good slant so the rain doesn't pool, double check the A/C, and you should be fine. Oh yeah - you have to down your beer more quickly in August 'cause it gets warm, fast.

We went in August for years while the kids were growing up. No insects except the love bugs, which were a real problem while traveling. Yes, lots of rain. But when you're in the parks it's a welcome relief from the heat. Our best memories are of our August trips!
