The food scene at FW

We're staying at the cabins in June 2011. I'm really confused about the food scene at FW. There's no CS? I guess because folks that stay at FW cook their own? Is there a place to get snacks? Where/what is it? Is the Meadows just open when the pool is open? Are there fountain drinks available somewhere? Coffee? Muffins? I was hoping for a place to get CS a few times. Do you drive to WL? Is there anywhere else close? We'll have our car and are on the DDP. I've perused the threads going back 4 or so pages and can't find this addressed. Though, I did read about TS at TE and can guarantee I won't be eating there... Thanks! Susanne

The food scene at the Fort is changing so don't feel bad.

For Counter Service this past summer the Food Window at the Meadow Pool had a few choices that fit the Counter Service Dining Plan. They also had soft drinks for refillable mugs and light snacks.

The Meadow Trading Post has coffee, canned/bottled drinks, plus light grocery items at sky high prices. Snacks are here too.

The Takeout Register at Trails End has some takeout dinner meals, soft drinks for refillable mugs, coffee, and pastries I think for sale in the mornings. The lunch at TE now sounds like its Table Service and the dinner is a buffet.

You can drive to WL to use their CS choices or ride the boat from the FW marina to WL. A bus will get you to WL too. The Contemporary Resort is also a short, pleasant boat ride away for CS options. Lots of people do this (go to WL or CR).

We just got back from the Fort--and it was difficult to get rid of those CS meals. Finally just gave 6 meals away to two lucky families at CHH right before we had to leave

FW seriously needs to add more CS options.

Don't forget the window at the pool snack bar closes relatively early! We found out the hard way.
