The Fixer,The CookMaster,The Teacher,The President: 2007 sequel-*BACK 10-20-08 * Yep

Shrek was certain he was the ogre for the job. Hopped up on Club coffee and doughnuts, he pounded his fists to his chest and waved away any suggestion that the chicken-runner moms might be able to wiggle through faster than he could. No, he was the man for this job and he would meet us all at Test Track with thirteen Fastpasses.

Now that's a man with a plan. DED over the description though. I can just see it.

Don't you just love the battle over whether to head to Test Track or Soarin' first? We always struggle with this when we first hit Epicot. Test Track usually wins out though. And you totally took me there in this installment. Thanks, woman.

Glad you located the boys. You had me worried for a second there. Because I'm a Mama and that's what we do.

Keep it comin' Jami.

:moped:

averill~ I am glad you liked it. I can't WAIT for the CookMaster to see this!:lmao: She thinks she looks like a little old man:rotfl: :rotfl:

kimmie and jay~I love my crew too! Thanks for seeing them as I do. They ARE adorable to a person and soul!

Grammyof2~I got the BEST present!!! Guess what? Grammyof2 just came to visit me this week!!!:dance3: Yep!! The CookMaster, Teacher, and President met her, too! Woo Hooty!!!!

LaLaLaLaLa~Yeah, I STILL get a little anxious when I think about that morning. Why can't Soarin' get their act together like the other parks' top two or three? We park commandos need our first half hour to be smooth sailing.

I also want to know about Puddy. He is my Gary. Sorry Mel.

Where is he???????????

Is he in rehab too? I am STILL hoping it is temporary but I was afraid to ask the CMs we were assisting that day.

When we went into Soarin' he was nowhere to be found. In fact, the entire preshow had been given its walking papers. I decided it was part of the floorin' story.

I did, in fact, request the front row as we had waited all day and I wanted our group to have a shoeless view.

This was not as easy as it appeared. Again, the preshow holding area was missing, Puddy was not there to settle and give us our spots, and the Castmembers seemed, though certain of voice, unsure of protocol.

I hate when that happens.

When the well-dressed, unconfident CMs finally opened the doors to the plane, they ushered us to the front row, began to count seats, and led us to...the far end of the row.

I kid you not. I wouldn't do that. I wanted to scream, "Why did you ask us how many are in our party if you were going to lead us to the end of the row?"

Locked and loaded was, "Why are we going to the far end? What part of 'center' did you fail to receive, kind CM?"

I was ready with, "Why did we wait for two planes for a turn to be front and center?" and "Why did you come to be a part of the Soarin' cast on Walt's 47 square miles?"

We sat in the middle.

We Soared. We laughed, smelled oranges, dodged a golf bll, and felt the mist. Spectacular!

Emeline had a panic episode over an undisclosed fear of heights. Oops.

NO WAY!

Don't tell me that. No more Chief Flight Attendant Patrick? No more "..and these little beauties"? No more "Nice work pal"? That preshow is seriously one of our favorite parts of the ride.

I really am numb now.

Glad you got to be front and center after all though. Even though it sounds like you had to fight for it.

What's the deal?

LaLa! I agree! It would be sooo sad to lose Puddy!

But he was there as of last week. I confirmed it SEVERAL times.

No worries.

:thumbsup2

Now I'm gonna respond to your latest.

Jami, that's some good info your handin' us. We took a cab from the YC to the front entrance of Epcot JUST to be in pole position for the trek to Soarin'. You're telling me that you can do International Gateway and make it OK? I'm counting on you Jami! I need confirmation!

Like LaLa, I am DED over your description of Shrek. Whom I LOVE LOVE LOVE. He is the cutest thing ever. And a full on Disney Man. You gotta love those.

Thanks for the latest installment AND the great pics. I love it all.

NM :flower3:

Well that's a relief. So what you're saying is we don't need to make the "Save Puddy" lime green Tshirts after all?

La, It's Puddy. Not Kronk. NOYAK. And, yeah, he was there when we were there a few weeks ago too. I think it must've just had to do with the rehab of March. Though I can't imagine what the pre-show area had to do with the tile floor up front. Whatever.

Jami, mad skillz for sure on getting front and center under those circumstances.

NM, borg on the taxi to the front of Epcot. Although we had a car, so we drove. But we have done the Int'l Gateway run and that works out fine, too. It's just a longer walk/run, and a little more stressful. But that's because we like to get Soarin' in at least twice, so we do the ride AND the FP thing there before we go to TT. If you just want the FP, you can do what Jam did. Assuming the FP machine is working. And the ride is running (which it wasn't when WE went to the trouble of driving to the front gates...) Y'know what they say about the best laid plans......

Jami, another great chapter. And THESE pics were beautiful. Truly. I love the one of the whole crew on the benches, and the one of the Cookmaster and Emeline is wonderful, too. I can't wait to meet them myself one of these days!!! That Grammy is a lucky girl (even if she's fat from all that southern food..... )

Puddy is definitely still there. We saw him last week also! I'm glad you are back to posting again. :) I had to catch up today after being THERE all last week and then posting a little on my TR this week. So glad grammy is doing well again. Thanks for the update on her and not keeping us hanging about her health!! I'm enjoying your posts and the pics now that I am reconnected! :thumbsup2

Wait Pittypat!! It was Grammyof2 from the Dis that visited me:thumbsup2 , not my Granny this week! Thanks for reading and posting!;)

You have NOT provided an update and you ARE keeping us hanging on her health?!?!:rolleyes1

That's okay. If you don't want to spoil your story, you can go chronologically. We'll wait.....;)

Ash, you can go back and add the quote if it bothers you THAT much.

Jam, I LOVE your little clan. I wanna come for a getaway ala:Grammy too!:dance3:

WHY didn't these perfect people I was traveling with tell me that on Soarin' I would think I was going to fall out of the sky into MANY places all over the world? Never been so nervous on a ride in my life! My palms and soles of my feet were sweating and my kids thought I was a freak for being scared. I will say that the second time around, when knew I would stay in the chair, I LOVED it!!! Nice to meet you, Grammy of 2!! Glad the Nash Trash girls were around to welcome you to Tennessee!!

You poor thing! I hope you got them back at some point during your trip. ;)

It is great to hear that 3 families can vacation together and have a hoot!

Mrs. Jami-
We are waiting...:rolleyes1 :bored: :drinking1 :drinking:

I wish I had a stamp that said "Moderator was here." Anyways, I wish we could have met this past spring, you were there too early for Spring Break.
We stayed at the BWI and we loved walking into the International Gateway. I went all by myself one morning and just took pictures with no one around. It was the first week of the Garden/Flower Show.

Is it still day 2?

My sympathies to your family.

Ohmari

Lucy, I'm home

Somehow, I got behind :confused3 but it might have had something to do with the fact that I boarded my broom :moped: or tricycle and jetted off to visit the Fixer, live and in person :cool1:

How dang lucky am I :cheer2:

I was one happy lady and got to meet most of the characters :rolleyes1 from this little tale!

The Cookmaster, Teacher and President are as nice in person as they appear in Jami's tales!

The President (Emeline) just reminded me that you can NOT trust your friends to tell you the facts concerning these here attractions :upsidedow They discount our fears :scared1: so I hope the Fixer doesn't con you into any other mishaps along the way.

All caught up now, so in your free time, get to writing. popcorn::

I am sure you have just been waiting for me :rotfl2:

:thanks: for the southern eat-a-thon tour

and an update please on YOUR Granny pixiedust:

cause Grammy :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: is fine

My poor Em. I thought I knew everyone’s preferences and fears. I had a pretty good handle on our Mission Space takers (very few) and sent them on their way earlier in the day. I don’t know if Emeline didn’t really realize she was going hang gliding or the experience was more dramatic than the pictures allowed. Either way, the girl was wrecked after her California adventure. I’m glad she had her lemonade fun to comfort and carry her (it thankfully remained with her) back into the Florida sunshine. As she said, she Soared later in the week and didn’t hate us (me) too much for taking her aboard.

As we walked off Soarin' and Em regained her composure, my phone wriggled. Mom. My heart jumped, for when I talked to her that morning, Granny was still on the respirator. This couldn’t be good.

What? She WHAT? No way.

Granny’s eating chicken broth??? Mom, she can’t breathe. How can she eat?

It’s a miracle, according to her doctors. They really don’t know how she is breathing on her own, for they barely expected it. She’s still receiving plenty of oxygen this particular afternoon, but instead of turning my mother’s hand away with a weakened, “I can’t,” she accepts sips of broth and keeps them down!!

Praise God, for He has healed her lungs past this crisis. It looks like, for this minute, this hour, she can breathe on her own.

Me too.

I called my sister The Teacher who was almost across the Florida border with my niece and nephew. They would arrive at Pop Century while we were at dinner that evening. Finally, our party would be complete for Monday touring! We gleefully marveled at Granny’s improvement; my sister insisted she fully expected to turn her car around before she made it to Orlando.

Not yet, sister.

Now that our daytime Epcot tour was complete, it was time to head back to the Beach Club for the mandatory rest period. Besides the fact that Cledus and Shrek required a nap every afternoon (‘We’ve got some nappers in here,' said the Cookmaster), Cledus was still nursing a pretty intense earache. Ever since the plane landed, he had been quietly suffering through the pain of a throbbing left ear.

DSC02384.jpg

He didn’t complain (much) and it never slowed him down. It did, however, seem slightly uncomfortable when he was horizontal; hence it might have interrupted a bit of an important component of his vacation: sleep.

I will wait to see if the CookMaster comments on this behind-closed-doors portion of their vacation.

Shrek knows something of ear pain as he is a semi-frequent flyer and also a Q-tip abuser. Q-tips!! They are both busted!! Excuse this medical aside for one or six sentences. Can you read the box? Forget it. You don’t ever read the box. Shrek, you ram those things in your ears and guess what? They clog your ears and you get infections and you cannot hear and your wife has to hear about it and offer advice and then you don’t take her advice and go to the doctor (even when you have two very good friends who are ENTS) and you finally go when your wife calls one of the friends from home and then you are healed and then at least you have eardrops that MIGHT heal or lessen your friend’s pain when you are in Disney World together and his ear hurts and he will not listen to his wife and go to a clinic.

Cledus needed more of Shrek’s drops (they were all full of how they had ‘healed’ him as we walked three paces behind and rolled our eyes) so we headed back to Beach Club.

Once again, we moms and always-game-and-napless Dad Crush took the kids to Stormalong Bay while Cledus and Shrek had their beauty sleep. Geez.

I love this night!! Yes, I loved last night too but if you have read any of my drivel you know that I am a Wishes addict! I love Wishes! While we truly appreciated Illuminations on the cruise more than ever before and I have the fondest of memories of that evening with my friends and feeling connected to Granny during the spectacle, Wishes is my quintessential Disney experience.

I have to experience it, once per trip, from the California Grill.

Well, I like it that way.

The first time we ever ate atop the Contemporary was on our 1988 honeymoon! Ah yes, Shrek and I were Disney planners the night he asked me to marry him. As soon as I said Yes and inspected the ring, we looked at each other and said, “Honeymoon in Disney World!” Back in those days, we big-haired gals dressed up to take in a Broadway style dinner show and we, of course, had front and center seats as I had called the first available ADR date almost 20 years ago. I remember my 1987 calendar holding the dates I could call Disney to make my dining reservations for the places we wanted to eat on our honeymoon. Has it been 20 years???

This year, we timed California Grill for a 7:40 seating with the Gatelatches as Wishes was at 9:00 that evening. It was a repeat of a magical evening with our friends on last year’s trip, where we had a spectacular view, delicious food, tears over the fireworks show, the world’s best cocktail (CG lemon drop!!) and excellent company. We took taxis to the Contemporary and let the elevator whisk us to the top!

The Coattails, by virtue of their name, made their dining reservations later than this Fixer as they jumped on board in January but were able to get into California Grill earlier the same evening. We didn’t get to dine with them, but my sources tell me my little G had his own famous Cali Grill sushi for dessert:

Ricekrispiesushiatcaligrill.jpg

They took advantage of the early seating and went over to MK for the rest of the Extra Magic Hours. We did get to see our Canadian best friends again! They were dining at the best table in the house for their first CG visit ever! I was so happy to see they had a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom. It really does feel like you can reach out and touch the Castle~~or at least Astro Orbiter.

We had a lovely table as well. They are all lovely when you are in The Happiest Place On Earth celebrating life and feeling like you have chased all your troubles away! Once again, I noticed a Disney touch I don’t see many other places. Its name is The Round Table For Eight. Most restaurants have long tables for parties of six or more. They simply fit the space better and are easier to fill in and navigate. We noticed almost every restaurant gave us a round option. It helps me wink at the CookMaster when our kids say something funny. I can also bore my eyes into A’s soul when he talks with a mouth full of gummies. It’s the family option and reminds me that Disney wants us to play as a family. Good for Disney!!

Cheese. The older boys, once again, were about the cheese. They pulled this stunt last year at Cali Grill when they saw the fancy cheese menu and decided they would order the cheese plate as an appetizer on the Dining Plan. Who cares? We giggled, thinking they would hate it when they realized it wasn’t Kraft American and Mozzarella.

They didn’t! They loved it! A and J were all about the cheese plate and ordered it two nights before at Flying Fish. Lapped it up, even, if you’ll remember the blue cheese penicillin scare. Moving past mold/ concerns, we let them have at it and presented them the menu:

DSC02213.jpg

Oh, this was rich. The Flixer. Oh, not The Fixer, The Flixer. Laughs all around. No, Mom, FLIXER, not Fixer. Yes, dear. I get it. Hahahaha. Apparently 12 sheep work their little parts off all year so guests at Disney’s CG can salute them and eat their efforts. Well, the boys liked the name, ordered up two samplers and let us try some cheeses.

ICK!!!! The Flixer is NASTY! Those sheep must inbreed or need to get out more. I can still taste it and my mouth is doing that pre-puke saliva thing even as I type this. That was some foul-smelling excuse for expensive (but Dining Plan) cheese.

Explain to me why my son, who was made of peanut butter and jelly until eighteen months ago, will eat that?

DSC02221.jpg

Filet. Now THAT I will eat! We ordered filets and fish and our appetizers were consumed (and mercifully removed in the case of the cheese) before we were “invited to join the cast of California Grill on one of two Observation Decks for the Magic Kingdom’s nightly showing of Wishes,” which is always pure magic. This year, as it was so cold and windy, we adults opted to watch from our stellar table view where we could see out the window and enjoy every note of the score and story. Bliss.

That is my idea of what will happen at 9:00 every night in Heaven.

Crème Brulee followed, which might happen every night in Heaven too if we are following a theme.

I wish I may, I wish I might…know that I could enjoy one night…just one night…like this once every six months or so for the rest of my life.

Is that too much to ask??

Let’s go get some painkillers (not that he hurt or had mentioned it) into Cledus and get some sleep in the fantabulous Beach Club.

Aerosmith, The Teacher, and a fishing excursion await us on Monday!

Great installment, Jam!!

Good news about Granny!

Don't you just love California Grill? We've been twice and had great meals and service both times. I've read some negative reviews around here, but thankfully, it was magical for us.

The pictures are awesome - and all of the boys are just so handsome!

Thanks for sharing your tale with us!
