I am listening to the email show and the question of nightlife consistently comes up now that the clubs at PI are closed. I'm hoping we can keep this thread at the top and have it provide a source of information for people looking for night time entertainment at WDW.

I have sent voicemails to the podcast regarding this issue specifically and they were not played for whatever reason(probably because I'm rather critical of Disney on this matter and my voice intonation shows it)

So lets get together and help people figure out what "in the world" you can do at night. There are several aspects of "nightlife." Maybe you enjoy comedy/entertainment and maybe you love dancing, or maybe you just wanna grab a drink somewhere relatively peaceful.

So since I'm an avid night club fan, I will start. Here is what we have for dancing:

Atlantic Dance - This is located across from Jellyrolls. They are open Tues-Sat with no cover and are 21+ all nights. The music is a "Video dance party" and uses a request format. That means the music being played has a video to go with it 99% of the time. It's typically best to show up at 11pm. If they are gonna be busy, they will be busy by then and if not, then it's probably not going to get busier. They play music from the 70s to today's top 40s. Their main target audience is the convention crowd, but things like spring break can change the primary audience. The music generally starts older and works newer throughout the night. I am a door host there usually once a week and it can be busy or slow on any night of the week, but since it's no cover, it's usually worth checking out. Some PI DJs do spin there so that gives it a little bit of the old feel of the clubs.

For dancing, that is IT. Zero, nada, zilch, for anything else in terms of dancing on property. For additional information on dancing opportunities off property, you can visit http://savepleasureisland.blogspot.com

Entertainment:
JellyRolls - the podcast covered this pretty good. It's a 10 dollar cover, dueling pianos, and is a lot of fun.

Kim possible adventure at EPCOT while drinking - tons of fun. Get a drink at each country it sends you to before you start the mission for that country.

Special events:
Dis member and PI advocate kingbobofthenorth is in negotiations with the mouse to rent out Soundstage at PI for a Mannequins reunion. The event, if they come to terms, will be held May 2nd. The music will feature Mannequins DJ peapod as well as many former patrons and Bob is working hard to add in other extra touches to help with the theme of the night.

Please add in your own thoughts and suggestions and I will try to keep this main post updated. Please refrain from discussions about PI and your opinion on the situation there. You can visit http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1931928 and spill your heart out there. I know I did.

We have started ending the night at Kimonos at least twice a week... terrible kerioke(sp)... but great sushi and the sakitini there is the best... barstaff is great as well..popcorn::

Also love the bar at WL next to Artist Point.... you can get the soup or salad at the bar and the cocktails are great (they will still do the blue cheese stuffed olives with the Northwest martini... even though it is off the menu!):cloud9:

Now when you want to dance and watch people... just hop in the cab and head off to City Walk... you will see a lot of the regulars from PI there..

Love me some Disney Magic and still go to the parks but they have not gotten a room rental since they closed PI (we have been back 22 nights and all have been off property ...every time) our next 11 nights are already booked off property as well....with the money we have saved staying off property the taxi and passes to City Walk seem like a bargain:cool1:

1 in 6 visitors to Disney are adults without children... Universal gets it...:confused3

I can point you at several places, that are off site, that have "dancing". Some how I don't think they would be inclusive of everyone in this forum.

And the movie theatre is still open, go see a movie.

Yes that's why I posted a link to Bob's blog. He and I club hop like crazy around here in an effort to keep on top of new listings.

My main point of starting this thread was to make sure people know about Atlantic Dance and anything else that's available on property, so keep the ideas coming!

Beadpirate, I'm sending you a PM

Hey, don't forget Yeehaw Bob over at the ScatCat Lounge...plenty of dancing there!

Um, okay, not really dancing, I guess...but there is Conga Lines, and lots of standing up/sitting down/shouting/singing/moving body in funky and embarrassing ways. Okay, how is that NOT dancing???

isn't there a piano dude of some sort at POR somewhere, I have vague memories of that one.

I never thought to go to Kimonos. Is it generally crowded on a saturday night or any night for that matter?

Could someone post up a link to Yeehaw Bob's website, I cannot find it even doing a google search.

My wife and I will be at WDW from May1-4, and planned on doing a night out dancing on the May 2. However, I planed on a dinner and dancing at The Samba Room which is just up the I-4. Anybody got an opinion on the Samba Room?

Just to clarify that Bob is at the River Roost Lounge at POR.

POFQ has ScatCats and Elliot Dyson is the entertainer there.

Thank you very much for the link.
Just thought I'd post this from his site. I've seen Bob's show a couple of times and it really is fantastic, so I'm bummed to see he's went through some surgery lately. Get well Bob!!

I Miss You Guys!!!!!

I had back surgery on February 16. I'll be taking a month off to recover. I plan on returning to the Port March 18.

Thank you all for your letters, prayers, and well wishes!!!

Last Updated: 3/6/09 10:00 PM My back is recovering nicely. There is still swelling at the surgery site, but I am

pain free. I'm walking upright. I'm really out of shape from not exercising! The doctor doesn't want me doing anything more

aggressive than treading water in the pool with a noodle! Talk about a life change. I used to ride the bike 40 miles a week, and work

out at the gym four times a week.

This is my last post until March 15. Max ( our son) and I will be traveling, and we return on the 15th. If we can find internet sites,

I should be able to respond to your e-mails. I miss you guys!!!

My wife is Hispanic so if I don't take her to dance some Salsa I'll be in trouble.

I will check out Bob's blog, thanks.
