The "Fever & Cough" virus....how long does it last??????

DS is FEVER FREE since Sunday afternoon. (It's Tues night). But he is still so whiny and can cry at anything. So annoying.......but at least he's feeling a little better.

Still blowing his nose some but the cough is almost gone. Hooray.

Just got back from the hospital w/ dh. The doctor said (on wed. when he first went in) that he had a cold and gave him tylenol and motrin. Well, here it is one week later and he still has fever, aching, fatigue, and everything else you can think of. We went back to the hospital today and he was told he has the flu but they can't perscribe any anti-viral meds. Something about they can only give it the first day they notice symtoms. Sheesh, the first day we went the doctor he sent us home!!!!!! Thanks a lot doc. My dh looks so pale and hasn't been able to eat since Wednesday. They still told him to continue w/ the tylenol and motrin. The flu should will last anywhere from 10 to 14 days.

Pembo - Glad DS is fever free!!

My DD had this over Thanksgiving Week. Dr. said it was a nasty virus being passed around and boy from reading this thread it sure has been passed. DD had fever of around 102 for about five days. We would think every morning after the third that her fever had broken, but it would come back in the afternoon. Dr. said that was normal with this. DD also had a cough and running nose that took another week to totally clear up even though she was feeling well after a week.

Since December first its went from being a visitor to permanent resident. For the second time this month my daughter is suffering from it. She works in a office at the Hospital and I think thats why she keeps getting it. A nurse who takes care of my son just came back to work today, both him and his wife had it. An aide who works for us and in my son's school had it. I'm the only survivor so far and i'm not feeling to chipper right now amd I'm having family over both christmas eve and christmas day . It seemed to last an eternity. At least 5 days of fever -- ick!
