The extra pics with passports

Ok, so the we got extra photos with our passports like everyone I'm sure. Are those photos needed to take during a trip? Or are they just extras to keep? My oldest has seemed to lost the extra ones that were printed for her.:rolleyes:
 
If I recall correctly, you used to send both in. I assume so the govt could keep the other. But now with digital imaging that’s not needed. But imo picture places based their services and prices on two pictures and refuse to lower the price so they give us two.
 

I have needed a passport photo to accompany a visa application when preparing for travel to China, so it was handy to have extras. This may not be an issue for most folks.

Yep, the second photo that is given is intended for use if you also need to apply for a visa.
 
True enough, they don't all require it, but some do, and so you have it if you need it.
 
A lot of my travelers ( for work ) will keep the photo and travel with them in case of a lost passport while abroad. They say it is one led thing to have to worry about while abroad.
 
Also due to the size of them it does not cost anything extra to print out two. It takes the same amount of photo paper to print two as it does one.
