DH & I rented this over the weekend, it really scared the @&%* out of me!! I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night and started thinking about the movie and I was practically completely under the covers!! DH yelled at me in the middle of the night because I was completely on his side of the bed (where he was almost falling off). The thing that frightens me the most is the fact that this is based on a true story. I can watch Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc. and have no problems, but this one really gave me the creeps!!

We love scary movies and that was one of the best! The way she layed on the floor in that creepy upside way was really bad! It was great!

I read an article that said there was evidence that she may have been mentally unsound, and that wasn't acceptable for the very religious family, so they blamed it on what else, demons! So she might not have been possessed at all. Does that make you feel any better?

I saw it this weekend too! VERY scary. I told DH if I start speaking Latin, even PIG Latin, call the priest!!!!!

Me too! I can handle most scary movies, unless they deal with the devil or demons. :scared1:

I was the same way in bed after seeing it!

We don't allow our younger kids to watch this stuff. So what does my lovely sister do, she lets DS-just turned 13 watch it. I am furious. We have told her and he is usually really good about saying to them or his cousin sorry my Mom won't let me watch it. He told me he got scared after a half hour so he went to another room and read. I am glad he told me but totally ticked that she did this. No he won't be going back over there.

I was so disappointed in this movie. It was more of a courtroom drama than anything scary, IMO.

My DH actually majored in psychology (he is now a therapist) and was raised very religious. He is not very religious now, but was raised to be fearful of God. He now says that his God is not one to be feared. He believes that God is very loving. He said that she most likely suffered from a mental breakdown which could have been caused by the huge change in her life (going to college, which is very stressful to begin with, also going to a larger town from such a small town), and meeting a boy and the feelings that this brought up. But, I completely believe in spirits, God and the devil, so maybe possession is very possible. I hope not, but you just never know.

Ditto! I wasn't scared by it at all. I even saw it alone while I was in Michigan for work. Went back to an empty hotel room and wasn't even the least bit scared.

I agree -- I was expecting to have the bejeebers scared out of me. Totally disappointed.

I thought so also!!!!So thats what I tell most people that rent the movie.

We have it through Netflix right now and I am debating watching it. I love scary movies but the one thing that scares the poo out of me is stuff with people possesed. My DH works third shift so I sleep alone at night and I don't want to be up all night with the lights on.

I prefer a scary movie with an "interesting story" to the slasher-type scary movies. I'm going to put this on the top of my Netflix queue. Thanks!

Ckay, I was hoping this movie would be both, but it wasn't.
