So is the that new price for the Queen's Room after they changes for October everyone is mentioning?

I wonder if that means you don't get a choice on wine pairings then for the QR?

Yes, this is for October through December.
No, the wine pairings are mandatory in the Queen Victoria Room.

I don't know if this will be permanent or if this is just for the fall.

Cheese trolley in the main dining room = awesome! It looks like the QVR is the same price as the 10 course main dining room ($235 + $105 wine pairing).

And when you say "confirmed," you mean they put you down for a specific date, correct? Many of us are already confirmed for reservations; we are just waiting for call-backs and emails on timing...

...now back to waiting for my email. :)

At 180 + 5 out, I called to get November 23 in the main dining room, any time between 5 and 7:30. I was told that I was confirmed for that evening when I called in May but that I would get a call back in 2 - 4 weeks when the schedule is firmer and also to put down a credit card and to get a confirmation number. I called for my client since he received the email and had no luck getting through on the phone line, so I just asked about mine when I got a chance to speak with someone :-).

They just called me back and she said they are slammed with phone calls and emails right now. She was very apologetic about how long it took them to return my call today. No worries from me but they realize they are running behind on responding.

I had a call with them at my 180 day mark for a reservation in late October, so glad to hear they're getting through the list. I guess I just need to decide on 10 courses or 7? Anyone have a preference and why? This is my first time at V&A, so I'd love to hear thoughts.

It's our first time as well and we've decided to go with the 10 course. The price difference, in the grand scheme of things (and Disney) is rather minute. On the very off chance that this is the -only- time we ever get to dine at V&A's, we wanted to leave nothing on the table for us to regret.

You won't have to decide when they call you in the next couple weeks; you will have to decide about few days to a week out. I know this because I couldn't make the choice between them today when Tammy from V & A called me about our dinner on 11/23 :-)!

IMO, that would be a terrible injustice if they made wine pairings mandatory in the future. I do not drink alcohol of any kind, for me it's by choice, for others perhaps they are recovering alcoholics; Either way, there are some people who just prefer not to drink (no attack on those who do). We had a fantastic meal at V&A's this past fathers day in the Queen Victoria Room and did not take the option of the wine pairings. I'm really hoping to do the QVR again next year for my wife and my 30th wedding anniversary but will be very disappointed if it's mandatory for the wine pairing (or paying for it). I'm sure there are some who would say, "you can dine in the main dining room", or might say, "it's their rodeo their rules". This would be true, but I would be very disappointed if I could not experience this again because I am not a person who drinks alcoholic beverages.

I agree with you! I don't add the wine pairings either because: A. I don't enjoy wine as much as I do cocktails; B. See "A".

My husband usually gets the pairings, and I take tastes of his.

I didn't even think to ask if it was permanent :-(.

I agree. Our ADR is for Sept. 8th, so I don't think this applies to us. But I would be very annoyed if it did. I love wine and I really like the idea of the wine pairing, but to force it seems a bit odd. I get migraines and if I get a migraine the day of our V&A reservation, I'm not going to drink.

I would be very surprised if they actually force people to take the wine pairings. Maybe they just know how much the wine pairings enhance the meal and they are trying to encourage more people to do so. If you hear $340 and you're like "Oh it includes all of our wine pairings as well", that must sound better than hearing $235 and if you want wine pairings it's an extra $105. Somehow adding $105 sounds worse than it starting at $340. So maybe it's more of a marketing thing?

Is it appropriate for children? I would love to bring my daughter, she is 12 and quite a little lady. Do they allow children? Or is there an age limit? Maybe a future trip if she is too young now.

The age limit is 10 and older I believe. I have seen pictures of children there, but I haven't been myself yet though so I can't give more feedback than that I'm afraid.

I wouldn't be surprised.
They know they have a limited quantity of tables that are booked out six months in advance and that a large percentage of guests are buying the wine paring anyway.

The restaurant wouldn't lose anything, maximize profits and have a happier business relationship with their supplier lol.

I'd imagine it'd be an issue for guests with an AA history lol, it'll never happen but I could see exactly why if it did.

Ok, I'm very excited. I just cancelled POFQ & booked a Polynesian Villa Studio (35% off Disney Visa offer) for our 1 nt. that we'll be at Disney for V&A 9pm ADR. We get in at 1pm and will probably just hang around the pool until Trader Sams opens up @4. We'll be in the main dining room for V&A, so do you think we'll be ok sharing the wine pairing? Or do people only do that for the larger one in the Queen Victoria room?

I originally called in early April, and they were supposed to call 4-6 wks from then. Here it's July, so I figured we slipped thru the cracks. I called today, they called back, and I got a reservation for Oct 1st. Glad I read your post and others, as there were hardly any reservations left for early Oct. So excited for the 10-course dinner with wine!
