The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I am 5'9 and about 285. Rode the mine train a couple of weeks ago and while it wasn't the most comfortable ride in the world, I fit with no problem at all!

How about the booths at Garden Grill? Thinking about switching one of my dinner ressies to Garden Grill & in all my Googling this morning, I keep reading that the lower level with the booths is the better of the two because you can see Living With the Land better.

My hubby is 6' 3" & 300something. So when we go out to eat, we always ask for a table instead of a booth. Should we do the same at Garden Grill? Or are they a little more accomidating? We think our two daughters will love watching the scenes go by, so the two of them being able to actually see them might be worth him sucking it up (and IN! :rotfl2:).

I am 5'3" and about 250 lbs, and round in the middle. We are going to Disney World for the first time next year and I am so nervous about not being able to ride some of the rides. Are there any I should be super concerned about. I don't want to be embarrassed when I get there. Thanks

Hi and Welcome!!! Don't be terrified, lots of us are in your shoes or even fluffier!!! :thumbsup2 Except for the Mine Cart ( which was not open on my last trip) I have ridden everything at Disney within the last 6 months and can say that you will be fine. Obviously, every "body" is different, but if you scroll through this thread you will feel very comforted to know that instances of not being able to ride at Disney are VERY few and far between. Let me say this, if can ride, you definitely can!!:good vibes

I also promise to report back on the Mine Cart when I get back next month!!

Have fun planning ... you will have a great time!

I've been a lurker on this thread. I've just created a poll on the DIS for those with concerns about themselves/family/friend & tight quarters on SDMT. Please take the poll if you're able & willing :goodvibes if you've already riden SDMT or keep an eye out if you have an upcoming trip & have been wondering/worrying...

Similar to another poster....I am also 5'3" and have probably weighed the same and gradually more for the past few trips than you. And even though there are some tight rides I have always fit. Now I haven't been there since the new mine train, but everything else, don't worry about it. Now I will tell you that the only ride that I will never ride again, that is until I loose alot of weight, is the astro orbiter. The last time I rode it, I probably weighed a little bit more than you and I fit in it fine, but it was hard to get out. Really hard.

Hope that helps some.

Same here about riding everything except Mine Car. The only issues are Universal Rollercoasters. I'm top heavy too so it makes it tough sometimes to fit.

Question for the other pooh sized folks. How do you guys prep yourself for all the walking at the World?

I have a job where I am on my feet all day and walk a lot, but the hubby has a office job.

Thanks!

DH and I walk every night or go to the gym. I have an office job and sit a lot. I also try to take a walk at lunch. We ramp up our walks about 3 months before our trips. We call it our Disney training.

Orthaheels have the only flip flops I will wear.

Sandals wise I stick by my keens.

I'm on my second set of Keens and have found them to be so comfortable. We were on vacation last week and did quite a bit of walking. My feet never hurt or felt tired.

I also do exercises for my plantars fasciitis that involves rolling my feet on frozen water bottles or tennis balls.

If you have it, you'll feel like somebody put a thumb tack in the bottom of your heal.

Dr. Scholls and Advil work wonders too! They are no substitute for the walking, but are sometimes needed as well.

The Tower of Terror 10-Miler is on my bucket list. Not there yet, but I will be someday!!:goodvibes

I would love to start a group of pooh friends who could support each trying to take on challenges being 274 pounds and 5'4 it will take a lot of work for me to make my goal of running at disney world in 2016.

Faith, Trust, and..PIXIE DUST.

There is a board on the DIS for weight loss called WISH. It's not a thread that I hang out on. I need something that speaks to my needs, and see too many threads that are too advanced over there.

I would prefer that we try to build a support group in THIS thread. Y'all have been very supportive to me about my needs and how to get around at WDW (which I consider exercise).

Miranda: you can do it!!! Think about all of the challenges you deal with everyday, but you get up, get going and actually think about running 10 miles!!

Start small, maybe with a consistency challenge. Say, I will walk / run at my current level or more for at least 5 of 7 days per week and will set goals to do more as I can.

I am starting a new job in 2 weeks that will require me to drive 45 minutes each way every day and there are few healthy lunch choices.

I want to be able to consistently take a healthy lunch and work out when I get home. I am considering buying a refrigerator and microwave for my office so that I can supplement my salads with lean cuisine.

It's been awhile since I had to put in really long hours and don't know if I will have time to take care of myself.

I would watch the sodium on those Lean Cuisine. I have been pretty successful with the small stouffer's meals. There is a turkey one and a fish fillet one that is low in calories and sodium. Also stock up on greek yogurts, fruit and nuts. These are my go to's when I get the snack cravings. You can also buy some salad mix in a bag and the small salad dressings. There is a Caesar salad bag that even has the dressing included. YUM!

Congrats on your new job!! :cool1:

I know it is not always easy, but try and eat a solid breakfast before you leave the house. I find as I'm getting older I really need food to lose weight. Carbs, fruits, and a good amount of protein in the morning make it some much easier to make good choices later in the day.

Can anyone give me some insight on the seats on Delta. I am pooh sized and have a hard time squeezing into plane seats without feeling uncomfortable so having an arm rest that moves up gives me more space. I fly with my family so I am not invading anyone elses space but my family in which they are ok with that.

We have only flew with Air Tran but now that southwest has taken over and they don't do direct flights from Detroit, we are looking for a new carrier.

Has anyone flown from Detroit to Orlando on delta? What are the seats like? I was thinking of booking Economy comfort but it looks like the armrest don't more. Do the arm rest move for economy? I am having a hard time finding images or info on this.

The airplane is boeing 767-300 it says for flight DL 2228 I forget the return flight number DL 1424.

Thanks in advance.
