The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I know im not the person you were responding to, but thought i'd add my info in case it might help you. I am a size 26/28 all hips, belly. my daughter and I rode splash mtn together, she is around a size 18/20 and the lap bar did lock a little but we still had room to pull it in ( if that makes sense) when she saw the drop off the bar suddenly got tighter and rammed in my gut lol. but otherwise no issues there. We also rode the magic carpet and it was one belt for 2 riders and we had no issue getting it to click. here are the rides we rode in each park:

Epcot: Test track - I was a little cramped in this one, mainly because im 5'10 and long legged!

animal kingdom-kali river rapids -no issues

magic kingdom- splash mtn ( see above)
magic carpets (see above)
haunted mansion- no problems
little mermaid- no issues

Hollywood studios- star tours -no issues

Thank you for the info, tngal! This is extremely helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I've never done the Magic Carpets, and it's probably been a good 10 years since I've done Splash Mountain, so I really needed this!

Hey! Sorry for just now posting back.

I went on everything without a problem, except for one. lol

DHS
Rockin Rollercoster
Tower Of Terror
Star Tours (this was a little difficult for me.the seats are small and the seatbelt is a little harder to get to to fasten. Embarrassing, but still managed to fit)

MK
Haunted Mansion
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Railroad
Space Mountain
Pirates of the Carribbean

Epcot
Mission Space
Spaceship Earth
Test Track
Maelstrom

I'm only 5'3 and wear a 26/28. So if I can fit, anyone can. I had so much fun and I hope this helps anyone that will be worried.

Thank you for the reply, Kristen! I appreciate the details, it is helpful for planning. It's especially good to know about Star Tours, maybe motivate me to stick to my pre-Disney diet :lmao:

Thank you to the folks who have posted their experiences in this thread! I have read through the entire thread and the information everyone shares is so helpful and puts my mind at ease.

Hopefully I can pay it back somewhat by sharing my experiences, too. I am a frequent traveler to WDW, but the past several years I've been going with someone who is not a lover of rides (hence my many annoying questions about specific rides I haven't ridden in about 50lbs or so). There will be more rides for my next trip, so I am trying to be prepared :)

Here's my ride experiences from my last two trips - September 2012 & March 2013. Both trips I was a size 30 in Old Navy jeans, 4x Old Navy top, 5' 2" and carrying most of my weight in my belly and behind.

Magic Kingdom
Wedway People Mover
Little Mermaid
Peter Pan
Mickey's Philharmagic
Hall of Presidents
Tiki Room
Pirates of the Carribean
Jungle Cruise

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - The opening to the "honey pot" is sort of narrow; I stepped up on the edge of the cart to try and get my belly above the clearing and slid in sideways.

Carousel of Progress - I did not go through the "old school" turnstile, asked CM to unhook chain and let me walk through other gate.

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin - Skipped this in March due to September ride. I noticed when the CM "closed" the cart after we sat down (it's sort of similar to the doombuggies in the Haunted Mansion) the bar right at the Astro Blasters guns hit right in the biggest part of my belly and stopped. Uh oh. The very nice CM didn't make a big deal, just let us go even though there was probably a 2 inch or so gap preventing the cart to close. He just kind of pretended it didn't happen.

Haunted Mansion - Skipped this in March due to September ride. I obviously did not take the Buzz Lightyear incident as the warning it was and rode HM. Well, had the same issue with the cart. After we sat in the doom buggy, the CM went to close the cart and it wouldn't close all the way since the bar hit right at the biggest part of my belly. Unlike the Buzz CM, this CM was not so discreet. She pushed on the cart mightily and made grunting noises as she did so, I was mortified. So she finally got it shut enough to her satisfaction and away I went, totally ashamed. Remembering this experience has motivated me as I lose weight for my upcoming trip, though.

More parks and rides in the next post...

And here are my Epcot ride experiences from September 2012 & March 2013. Both visits were made at my highest weight, I wore a Old Navy size 30 in jeans, Old Navy 4X tops, 5' 2" and carrying most of my weight in my belly and behind.

Epcot Future World
Spaceship Earth
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Finding Nemo
The Land boat ride

Soarin' - I was in a panic before riding due to the seatbelt. I did manage to get the seatbelt on (as others have said, pull the belt all the way out before sitting), but it was a little bit of a struggle to buckle.

Journey Into Imagination - The cars have a narrow opening, so I tried to step up on the car ledge and shimmy through sideways. The height of the sides is different from Pooh's Hunny Hunt pots though, so I struggled more here since I'm short and the cart opening hit right at my widest point. I made it, but it took an extra squeeze on my part. And this ride really isn't worth the effort, IMHO :lmao:

World Showcase
Maelstrom
Mexico boat ride (can't remember the real name - Three Cabelleros?)
Most of the world showcase attractions are movies, I think France is the only one with a theater. I didn't think the France theater seats were too bad.

And here are my ride experiences at Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios in September 2012 & March 2013. I worse a size 30 in Old Navy Jeans and 4x Old Navy tops at this time, height 5' 2" and carry most of my weight in my belly and behind.

Animal Kingdom
Safari
It's Tough to Be a Bug
Train to Conservation Station

Hollywood Studios
Great Movie Ride
Toy Story Midway Mania
Backlot Tour
Muppetvision 3D (theater seats were a bit tight)

That's all for my ride experiences, hopefully it will help someone out. I will definitely post after my September 2013 trip because I will be riding more. (And I hopefully will have a Haunted Mansion success story if my diet continues to go well. I'm a 26/28 now, hoping to be a solid 26 or even 24/26 by the time of my trip.)

And thank you again to everyone who has contributed to this thread and helped so many by sharing your stories! :flower3:

So I'm doing some research. I'm going to wdw in 2 weeks, does anyone know if sites on Disney property that sells 4x clothes? I don't want to be looking around and be disappointed. I'd hate for the Disney magic to be ruined for me, I'd rather know ahead of time. Anyone know a phone number of the Emporium or something to be able to check this?

The best collection is online at the Disney Store for plus sizes... and you can have them shipped to your resort waiting for you upon checkin :cool1:
But you can find plus sizes (altho not easy) at many of the larger stores... Best one was the World of Disney at Downtown Disney.

I've had very little luck finding plus size clothing at WDW. You can ask any of the cast members at the shops if they can locate plus size clothing (and they can check for you). In the past, I've been directed to the Mouse Gears Store in EPCOT. You may have to ask if they have any 4x in stock. In my experience, they had to check in back for this size. And last year, what they had was limited to a grey t-shirt with the fab 5 on it. I wish there were more plus size options on property. :(

I have had a little luck at Mouse Gears and the Boardwalk big gift shop.

On another note, someone asked about turnstiles..,we just back. Country Bears and Carousel of Progress was tight. There was one other, but I didn't make note of where. Tiki birds? Maybe?

The locations where there are turnstiles will have an alternate place to enter for wheelchairs. A CM would gladly let you enter there :).

We have had random luck on any sizes over 2X. The best places we found are The Emporium and World of Disney Stores, but not every time. And we have found more larger sizes in Men's then Women's. Also it helps to check daily as new stock comes in daily. And it is always good to ask. However not every CM knows where to find the larger sizes.

I didn't realize that it was going to be that tight. In the past, I just had to go sideways, this time it seemed like my whole body had to ride the turnstile through. I guess I'm saying I didn't realize there would be a problem...until I was in the situation.

I do everything I can to do everything possible like a thinner person. Nevermind me...I'm just like everybody else. As I get older and more Pooh like, I think I may need to rethink that. Its better to be different and a little embarrassed than to make a huge mess and be very embarrassed.

I’m really confused and discouraged.

Currently I own 2 pairs of pants (one from target and another that I got at Marshalls). Both sizes are 18W.

I need shorts for Disney but I cant seem to find any. I found a few online shops that have some cute styles but I hate returning things online so I took my measurements to make sure I was getting the correct size…

My measurements are:

Bust: 47”
Hips: 55”
Waist: 43”

According to that, all the websites (even target.com!) says I should be a size 28W!?!?!

What do I do..Did I do this wrong?

Catherine's has plus sized Disney tops throughout the year.

Maybe you could go to Target, Lane Bryant or Catherines and try some things on to see what fits you best. And then go from there? Based on those measurements, its sounds like maybe you need to try a size 22/24. I know that when I shop in Catherine's, the clothes in this store run big, so I can go down a size. Perhaps the shorts you have from Target/Marshalls run a little large? Or it could be the material they are made from-are they stretchy? Or it could just be the way your body is shaped that makes the difference.

Its really a pain that clothing sizes aren't more consistent. But trying some on to find a brand or style you like would save you the most headache. Btw- I love the yoga stretch knit capris from Target-they are very comfy. And most of my shorts come from Lane Bryant. Good luck!

While I have been losing weight I am still very much in the "Customer of Size" category and opted to take an extra day and take Amtrak instead of flying and paying for extra seats the entire way through. From NC I am able to get a Roomette roundtrip for around $450. I am traveling alone and meeting with my friend at Disney so this might be an option for a solo traveler who can be flexible with their schedule.

With 2 months to go it's time to step up the trip prep, reinforce the ban on soda., walk more before the trip, and generally eat healthier. If only to make room for the goodies at Food and Wine Festival. :thumbsup2

When we were there last June I was able to find shirts in 3and4x. I was stoked but when I got back to CBR and tried them on they were snugger than I would have liked. Disney has gone to that spandex type material for some of them and its just not flattering. We are going back this October and I hope all my shirts are loose. I am literally working my butt off to lose 20 more pounds for my goal of 50 by our trip, 81 days to go.

As far as rides, at my heaviest, 30 pounds ago and 2 WDW trips, I wore a 4 or 5x top, size 28 jeans. I was able to ride everything in the park. Of course turnstiles could be considered a sport that I managed to get good at and my DH was properly trained to help me buckle any belts such as Test Track. I cannot wait for this trip because I think I finally am done asking the flight attendant for a seatbelt extender! Yeah!

Congratulations!!! I am 50 more to goal for my trip in December!

Thanks Disney212. It's a long and difficult journey to lose but I am finally motivated. I want to do the Disney half marathon in a few years. I have done a few 5k's this summer, walking not running, and Disney is my goal.
Congrats to you too on your weight loss goal and journey.
