The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

Wow. What a creeper. Seriously, who does that??

(re: the man with the bug)

Don't worry I knew who you were talking about  And this guy was old so I'm not sure what was in his head to do that. I hate when boys think it's funny to wave a bug in a girls face!!!

Good Night!! Bug Man needs to get a grip - on something else! What a freak!

We did rain in EPCOT last time too. NO fun! But, lots of places indoors to explore if you allow yourself the time.

Glad you stayed seated for your time travel. No crazy dancing allowed, you know. ;)

We're they thinking that medium sized meant sized for larger than average- usually that's what "medium" means... just sayin'. :confused3 I don't have too many average sized friends that need underwear that would fit King Kong.

We caught Zither lady in China last time too, and believe it or not, it was one of my very favorite memories. I could sit and listen to her for hours; that music is so incredibly soothing!

Tell me about it! If only this guy could see the reaction he's getting on here, he wouldn't have many friends!!!

This is true. And boy, we sure did allow ourselves time indoors!

Awww, but I wanted to dance the Macarena to the moon and back...darn!

:lmao::rotfl2: King Kong! :rotfl2::lmao:

Zither, is that what the instrument is called that they play? It is very soothing. I love it!

Um that bug guy story was really weird.....guess you meet all kinds at WDW

I missed a couple of updates so sorry for backing up. Thanks for making me drool with the pics from Le Cellier. So strange that your sister's meal wasn't cooked properly. You'd think they'd try a little harder for their employees!

I have never noticed that Moroccan museum before!

Love the underwear. I might go buy myself a small and feel better about myself :rotfl2:

You are SOOOO not the only person who slips into a British accent while talking to British people. I hate myself for doing it because I don't want the poeple to think I'm making fun of them. I'm not...I just can't help it.

The next morning, we were up early as today was our resort switch day to Kidani at AKL!!! I had to call Bell Services to come grab the fridge that was from the DIS fridge swap we participated in. A little guy of about 18 years of age showed up at the door. I was surprised he could lift the fridge since he was so tiny. Can't judge a book by it's cover! Once that was taken care of, we threw the luggage into Bubba's little car and we were on our way

If you don't already know, the distance between Pop Century and AKL is minimal so we were there within minutes.

I was SO excited to stay here. Kidani had been calling my name since it was built so I was ready to burst with the fact that I was finally staying here.

Oh yeah! I was definitely home :cloud9: We entered the lobby and headed straight to check-in. Keep in mind it was about 8am.

We were excited. We were ready. We were stuck with a CM in training :faint: This was brutal. I tried being patient. I tried to be understanding. But the fact that her trainer was not being helpful didn't help matters. Let me explain.

Bubba had overpaid on our reservation somehow so Disney owed us money. The poor CM in training had never had to deal with this before so she kept asking the other CM (obviously with more experience) to help her. His answer to everything was "I don't know." Great. Lots of help there buddy. After the CM in-training made a few calls, Bubba signed something and got the money that was owed. What an ordeal! That was 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Moving on....

We were given directions to our room. Let's just say it wasn't just a hop, skip and a jump away. This was a hike, I'm telling you!

We were in the Pumbaa section, room 7675. At least after everything our room was ready. So Bubba and I went back to the car to find our room. Sounds like an easy task right? WRONG! The underground parking garage in Kidani is a nightmare! We could not find Pumbaa! Granted we never drove far enough but after 10 minutes of driving in circles, we said screw it and parked in Rafiki. Kinda weird that we parked inside a monkey but work with me here, Disney named the parking areas! I like Lion King, really I do. It's my favourite movie. But at this point I was getting a little frustrated and so was Bubba. We just wanted to find our room!

Once parked, we decided to go find the room first before lugging our suitcases all over the place. After a good 3 minute walk down a loooooong hallway, we came to our room.

Just the size of the bed alone made up for everything we just had to deal with!

The whirlpool tub was fabulous. Really takes care of the aches and pains

These lamps were adorable! I wish I could take one home

We had booked a 1-bedroom suite with savanna view. I pulled back the curtains and saw this:

:furious: Okay maybe I wasn't that upset but the view was less than spectacular. We were right by the holding area for the animals and there wasn't much else around us. There were gazelles and little antelope around but that was it. I was hoping for giraffes and zebras... yeah, no. Just wasn't meant to be. Lesson learned: Put room requests on file to have a better chance of getting a nice view.

Overall, the room was spectacular and for the amount of time we got to be in the room, I was very happy with it. I loved the theming - Lion King! - and the sheer size of the room! You could easily fit 5 people in there for 2 weeks.

The plan was to go to Animal Kingdom so without letting more time pass us by, we jumped in the car and drove the 2 minutes over to AK.

Remember where we parked!

As you can see, it was a bit overcast so not the warmest of days.

Our first stop was Expedition Everest. I had promised Bubba that I would ride it with her after she put herself through riding Dinosaur with me last November. She hates Dinosaur so that's saying something. I was never a big fan of EE. I rode it last April and it made me feel dizzy and I nearly passed out on the backwards part - most likely due to the heat and dehydration - but despite that fact it still made me a bit wary of riding it again.

It was a short wait (great  ) so first we grabbed a fastpass for our second ride and got right into stand-by.

And did I survive the ride? I'll let you be the judge

Great update! Love your Kidani pics. I agree that the parking there is ridiculous. I hated everytime we went to our car. I did love the room though - just gorgeous! Too bad your vew was less than stellar.

You sound like me on EE. I can not take more than one ride at a time - the backward part gets me dizzy, too. But it looks like you survived.

Grrrr about the check in, the view, and the parking. But yay for the room itself! Since we're not parking and we have a standard view room, we won't have to worry about that, but hopefully we get a good CM to check us in! And since 5 people could live in a 1BR comfortably for 2 weeks, do you think 2 people could live comfortably in a studio for 12 days? :rotfl: What time did you get to the park that the line for EE was only 10 minutes? After all the check in drama, driving and walking and parking stuff, it seems like it would have been awhile. And yes, you look like you survived, but just barely. ;)

Ok, I'm subbed in and here! Now back to all the links to read up on your TR!

BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVED :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc that you started your trip with Pearson. I'm obsessed with that airport:love:

Thanks Liesa! Now I know all about the Guzheng aka Zither. Gotta love wikipedia :lovestruc

Um that bug guy story was really weird.....guess you meet all kinds at WDW

You sure do... I could probably come up with more stories to tell if I had time!

I missed a couple of updates so sorry for backing up. Thanks for making me drool with the pics from Le Cellier. So strange that your sister's meal wasn't cooked properly. You'd think they'd try a little harder for their employees!

It was very strange. Bubba said that she had never had the veal turn out like that before. Like I've said many times before, there are times when Le Cellier does slip up. For example, last April when I ordered the Mushroom Filet the risotto was SO salty. It was inedible.

I have never noticed that Moroccan museum before!

Learn something new everyday! Check it out next time you're there. :thumbsup2

Love the underwear. I might go buy myself a small and feel better about myself :rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl2: Hey, Disney cares.

Glad I'm not the only one! It just can't be helped! If anything, they should take it as a compliment for being imitated.

The view was probably what disappointed me the most. Had I been staying there for a week, I would've taken the 10 minute hike back to front desk and asked to be moved.

You sound like me on EE. I can not take more than one ride at a time - the backward part gets me dizzy, too. But it looks like you survived.

Can't say I'd go out of my way to go on EE everytime in the park. For my next trip I'll be with my mom who I can't even get on Splash Mountain! It'll be a nice break from the more "intense" rides. I will be going on Splash Mountain with or without my mom though :rolleyes1

It wasn't that the CM in training was bad. I know she was just learning. But the jerkwad who should've been HELPING her was the real problem. I'm sure your check in will go smoothly. Yes, I think 2 people will be very comfy in a studio for 12 days  I think we were in front of EE no later than 9:45am. It was still pretty early, put it that way. I did just BARELY survive. It was pretty terrifying.

Ok, I'm subbed in and here! Now back to all the links to read up on your TR!

BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVED :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc that you started your trip with Pearson. I'm obsessed with that airport:love:

Yay! :welcome: YukiPhnx!! Glad you came over. Pearson is a pretty good airport. Expensive, but nice. I only wish they could fix up Terminal 3 like they have with Terminal 1.

Glad to be here! There seems to be no hope for Terminal 3 anymore. It looks so vacant.

Btw, which airline did you fly?

For this trip I flew with Air Canada because the price and flight times were right. Normally I fly West Jet because I love their customer service and the overall experience. My next trip (I leave in 4 days!) I'll be flying out of Buffalo. It's so much cheaper!

Yeah, for my last 3 trips down there, I've flown WJ. They're just amazing! The flight attendants are always so funny and accomodating. Flying with them is always a great experience.

And ditto on flying out of Buffalo. I didn't find out until after I booked my flights how cheap it was! I also didn't know how close it was either!

I just read about your ride on Snow White. I can't believe it took you so long to watch the movie! It terrified me as a young child. It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. Pinocchio being my number one scariest Disney movie.

Ok, I'm all caught up! Wow, only 10 mins wait for EE! I loved EE when I rode it, but my little brother was too scare to go on. When we saw the ride photo, there was a girl on it that looked BORED OUT OF HER MIND  I had no idea how she could do it! She had her elbow propped up with her chin in her hand.

You looked like you fought a good fight with EE.

Some people complain about their service. Saying that they're TOO friendly. People always find something to complain about :sad2:

Now you'll know for next time. Southwest, AirTran and JetBlue are the popular airlines to fly with.

I'm not sure how I missed out on this movie as a child. I guess I was too busy watching Bambi. I love that movie!!! Pinocchio is rather frightening. Like, come on. Just look at the whale! If that doesn't frighten a 5 year old I'd be shocked.

Perhaps she just did that for the photo. Some people are harder to thrill I guess.

Why does Bubba hate Dinosaur?

She's always had this fear of dinosaurs. I used to watch the movie Jurassic Park a lot. She didn't even like that. Everyone has their one thing that scares them. For me, it's those ventriloquist dummies :scared1:

You looked like you fought a good fight with EE.

Yeah... and I was forced to ride it again!

Hey Jen, how was the wait for Sum of All Thrills?

I remember there wasn't much of a wait. And we didn't even go first thing in the morning. We waited maybe 10 minutes tops?

Funny story about Pinocchio and the whale. Yesterday at Orientation Advisor training we were put in groups and each group had to make a skit based on the topic they were given. The twist? Each person had to be a fairy tale character, but not from the same story. One of the groups had to do a skit about clubs, and the main character was Pinocchio. After he talked to each person he'd say "sure, I'll join your club (except I lied and I don't like this because...)" The last group was about animal rescue, and he said "Sure, I'll join your club (except I lied and I don't really like animals because I was swallowed by a whale)" Maybe you had to be there but it was really funny-the guy doing it is really funny to begin with. :lmao:

Haha, sounds like a fun training session! I've always wanted to be an Orientation leader, but never really had the time to dedicate to it.

I think the puppet-master in Pinocchio was the most frightening thing. And being shipped off to that island......scary....

Yeah, it was a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to this summer. We had training yesterday and today, and then we come back in June. We have 2 more weeks of training then, and we're here for 6 weeks total. There are two 1 day transfer sessions, and five 2 day freshman sessions.

I haven't seen Pinocchio in many, many, many years, but I think my mom has said it scared me.

I watched it again last yr, to try to get over my fear. But that movie still gives me the jeebies!
