Well I applied back on September 7th and of course I was so excited and rushed and I ended up making a mistake on my application. Nothing major, but I selected the wrong option asking about different status's of college enrollment. Well I selected "none" by accident which spit out my application and I got the "You are no longer being considered for this position". I was upset so I called casting and they told me I would hear back from them soon for the next steps. 6 weeks went by and I heard nothing, So I called again with reassurance and they said I will hear back shortly. Well it has now been another three and a half weeks since the call and I still haven't heard anything. Should I just forget it, continue school for Spring, and try again later on? Or do you think there is still time for me to get in? I am in school for Graphic Arts and Photography so obviously PhotoPass would be my ideal role. But I feel like if I hear anything at it will only be to offer me the left over positions like custodial, foods, ect. Don't get me wrong, I know it would still be a blast but it wouldn't really help me in my future.

I was also thinking this is my last chance to do it because I am turning 22 in Spring and will have another 4 years left of school....being 26 during the program seems a little old, for me at least.

We're you able to interview? And 26 is definitely not old! There are cps of all ages! I think that if you really don't think it'll work out this time around, try again :)

I haven't even gotten to the WBI yet. My app was instantly spit out when I initially applied. I am still "not being considered" according to my dashboard. I was told I was going to be ok by recruiting, but I was also told I would hear back from them in 2 weeks 2 months ago...so who knows at this point.

First of all, 26 is NOT old!! I did it when I was 28, and had my birthday halfway through, making me a wonderful 29. There are some of us "old timers" down there, and there are ALWAYS people 50+ on the program. Second of all, DON'T GIVE UP! I say call them again! Fight for the chance to interview, and if for some reason they offer you a role that you know you won't love, your not penalized if you choose to decline it. If you decline, this will NOT affect your chances at getting accepted in a future date. DON'T settle though! If you don't love your job, it's really hard to go to work when it's 110 outside! I was lucky enough to earn the Photopass late this time last year and loved it, but I had friends who said they would do ANYTHING to work for Disney, and were really unhappy as the program went on. Choose what you love and what you know you'll still love to do in 110 degree weather!

In short: Call again! If you don't like what you're offered, wait and apply again later! It's worth it :)

What you said is just perfect :thumbsup2

I would def call again. Ask to be transferred to Education. I couldn't seem to register for classes and called a few times. Someone finally passed me to Education. Whatever the problem was, they fixed it right away & I could then register. Since it's an education issue, they may have quicker access to your information. You might be mad at yourself later if you don't at least try to correct it.

Btw, I don't believe "age" exists down there. Disney is a philosophy, it comes from your heart. Check dis out: I'm 55, my son was in the program in 2010, and it was HIS idea for me to apply! LOL

Even if you don't get offered the role you want, try to keep an open mind. I think it's the Person that makes the role! :) When you put "positive" in / you get "positive" out!
(he had espn parking lot. :sad2: ... but said he'd go back in an instant.)

According to him, custodial is the role to have. You have tons of freedom & independence with lots of guest interaction. And can be at a variety of different locations. Guess ya can't judge a role by it's cover! haha Who knew?

If ya love what Disney is about, you're half way home!

Give education a call! Good luck!!:goodvibes

Well if I go down, I would rather do something that has some benefit to my education and future career then do something just to go down there. Not to mention, i've been in the Amusement industry for a while working at a major park so it would be nice to do something different. I tried to call and got nowhere. At this point I just want to try again next year to be honest. I found a really good internship for the time being and I should probably get some of the these new college courses out of the way.

I got over it and moved on. I just now know to be more careful the next time I apply.

Congrats on the great internship! Sorry you didn't have any luck on the phone. That can be so frustrating.

You are right about staying focused on career goals. I agree, taking just any role to be there could be a waste. Imo, studying under Disney is the whole point of the program. I am registered & really anxious to start classes! Not everyone gets the opportunity to meet & network with Disney executives on such a personal level.

For me, working as a cast member anywhere in WDW is a fringe benefit of the DCP. I'm most excited about my role as a Student and the things I will learn!

My son went through the Spring 2010 Program. It was an advantage to have DCP on his resume' It got him many interviews. He now has a great position in his field, Visual Communications.

Also, I don't think anyone can be too old for the program! At 55, I never dreamed I would ever do the program! And yet here I am!

I'm sure you will do well and meet your goals! who knows, maybe you'll do the program in the future! All the best to you! :)

That's awesome! I actually just got my Associates in Visual Communications and am seeking a position while I continue school. My internship is IT related, I like it and is good money, but my passion is still on the creative side with Visual Communications.

Good for you!! That is so cool! You just never know where or when opportunities will appear!! Creative Magic will find you!! pixiedust:
