The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

::yes:: the speedway is that bad. I had not ridden it in probably 15-18 years but on my trip with DB and SiL my DB had some nostalgia so we decided to go. The gas pedal was so stiff my leg hurt from pushing on it so hard, and the steering wheel hardly does anything so you're constantly hitting the track in the middle and getting thrown about. I don't ever need to ride it again, ever. :rotfl:

Checking in !! Worked 24 hours straight on Friday and did absolutely nothing except Timesheets yesterday, slept 12 hours and am back in for 14hours !!!!:scared1:Tomorrow I am OFF for the first time in 3 weeks , Yup 21 days staright , what is even better is I am OFF Thursday too !!:cool1::worship::yay::banana:

This is another couple's trip. Lehigh Spring break was early March and the boys went to the Georgia coast. So, we are going on our "Spring Break" to Disney!

I figured their spring break was pretty much over. The only school I know with spring break in April is Delaware.

I'm glad its a couple's spring break! So much more fun!

OMG! That sounds like its pretty much an accurate description of the Speedway. Thanks for bursting my bubble. It's officially OFF the bucket list and now in the dumpster! :rotfl:

:faint: Oh Rosie! That is FAR TOO MANY days of work! 21 days straight! I would die. :faint: So glad you finally have two days off this week. You are not going to know how the act! :rotfl:

Every time we've gone for my parents anniversary, we haven't even been in the same month. No worries that you were a few days off. :rotfl2:

I'm all about quiet pools. We loved the Treehouse Villa pool for that exact reason.

Listen, a picture of 1/2 eaten food is better than a picture of no food at all! :lmao:

We did that once. We celebrated our October anniversary in September one year when we went for free dining. That was when free dining was a total bargain and we had fewer DVC points.

I'm all about quiet pools. We loved the Treehouse Villa pool for that exact reason.

The TH villa pool was really cute. When we stayed there it was closed during most of our stay so we got to sample all the other pools. Having a car helped with that.

I was trying to update my table of contents and I must have accidentally copied and pasted it in a new post. Sheesh. What they heck was I doing? :confused3

:rotfl2::rotfl2: So something I would do!!!!

Ha ha! I was actually using your newly updated TOC to get updated the quick way!

Great photos and interaction with the Move It Shake It Celebrate It parade with the littles!

I like the "anniversary" photo at MK with the castle background. :)

I'm determined to get at least an hour of pool time at BWV this next trip. As many times as we've stayed there we've never used any pool.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: So something I would do!!!!

OK - the sad thing about that is I have NO idea HOW I did it. All I know is that if I tried to do it again I probably couldn't. :rotfl2:

Ha ha! I was actually using your newly updated TOC to get updated the quick way!

You know - I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to just repost the TOC every few updates. Now if I could just figure out how I actually did that! :rotfl2:

Great photos and interaction with the Move It Shake It Celebrate It parade with the littles!

OMG - those kids were SO adorable and so well behaved. They seemed to enjoy every single minute of everything. No fear whatsoever!

I like the "anniversary" photo at MK with the castle background. :)

Thanks! I'm glad we stopped for that!

Maybe that's because you live in CA and you get to swim a lot? I don't get to swim much here, except in the summer when I get invited to someone's house with a pool (and you know I'm always the first one in). I just really appreciate pool time - it's totally part of the vacation for me.

"Car Denny"

Happy Monday folks!

I go into work at noon today for one of my 24 hour overnight shifts, so I decided why not post an update. If I don't do it now who knows when it might happen.

So here goes -

We were capping off a great day at the World. It stated with CP for breakfast with a family reunion, followed by MK time, pool time, Soarin & TT, a DIS meet. Now it was time to circle the world showcase and enjoy a little F&W.

My first "eats" looked like this.

I had the mongolian beef. I tried it last year and it was really tasty, so it seemed like a good choice.

Denny’s choice of beverage with the Happy Lychee

The reason it undoubtedly got its name is because, if you like adult beverages, drinking one of these should make you very happy. It was quite strong.

I am sorry to say that I did not take any more beverage or food pictures after this. How do I know? Because I’m about 100% certain that I couldn’t have spent a whole evening at F&W and only had one glass of wine and one food tasting.

While we were sipping our drinks we decided to watch the acrobats in China. We got to talking to this great couple who lived in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. They were doing an overnight visit. Of course, the longer we chatted before the show, the more people filled in the empty spaces and we could barely see the acrobats by show time. *sigh*

I had put my camera away and I really didn’t feel like taking it out when the view was that bad, so I took a few crappy phone shots more as a reminder that I had been there.

They really were good and I’m glad we took the time to watch!

At the end of the show we continued our travels around the world showcase.

Since I have pictures from a stop in Morroco I have to take an educated guess and say I had the spicy hand roll. I could borrow a picture from Saintsticket’s TR, but take my word on this - the hand roll is delish!!!!!

I obviously felt it was important enough to take a picture of this. I was now officially on a roll to see how many stamps I could get.

After our brief stop in Morocco, we ventured forward to Canada. I’m not sure why Canada, but we decided to stop and watch O Canada. I share emmysmommy’s sentiment about this film. I love it and I always walk out of there wishing I could be an honorary Canadian and wanting to immediately plan a trip. Nova Scotia is still on my bucket list.

Well hello Martin Short! (I think you do a great job narrating this film, BTW)

I love Niagara Falls

Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by the tides in the Bay of Fundy

I could use some spring flowers right about now!

I have skied at Mont Tremblant

I have always wanted to visit Vancouver and met a dentist from there while I was skiing at Mont Tremblant who offered to take me sailing, Hmmm - why didn’t I take him up on that offer. Oh yeah - I was dating Denny.

I can’t tell one big Canadian city from another, Any guesses?

Crappy picture, but I always remember my mom talking about her trip to the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec with my dad. That was on her bucket list - glad she got to stay there. It looks likes its an amazing place.

This looks slightly familiar. I remember going to Expo 67 as a child. OK - now you know how old I really am. Shhhhhh. This was actually the American Pavilion during Expo 67 which is now the Montreal biosphere.

I remember this trip really well because they had these cars that were supposed to be like monorails, but were actually a lot closer to the People Mover. In fact, after doing a little research I found that this particular line was actually called the “Blue Line” Coincidence? You decide!

Well, I remember riding on the blue line with my family and when we got out of the car my dad realized he had left his glasses behind I, being the precious 7 year old that I was, remembered the car number we were in and saved the day by allowing the attendant to find my dad's glasses. My parents thought this was astounding, but, hey, that’s was 7 years do - remember things. Didn't seem so special at the time.

But I digress. It’s just that this film brings back a lot of childhood memories I suppose and right now I feel a bit nostalgic.

Two more pictures from O Canada

Ahhhhh - It’s good to be a Canadian. Oh wait - I’m not! But for 18 minutes I can pretend that I am!

Continued In Next Post

At the end of the film we decided not to stay for Illuminations since we had see it the night before and we had a special DIS meet planned to see it the following evening.

So we said Good bye to the great theming in Canada and headed back to the Boardwalk.

Edited to add: I almost forgot to mention that we ran into Kristy (hertz) again this evening. She and her DH were literally power walking (probably on their way to attend the party of the senses) and she saw us first. Kristy should probably be a detective because if she could spot us in that crowd she's darn good!

We stopped on the bridge to France and got a couple PP pictures however they disappeared off my account, too. So here is a crappy one taken with my camera.

When we got back to the Boardwalk we stopped to see the magician performing. A lot of times I don’t even bother stopping because sometimes its hard to see with a bunch of people gathered round. But this time there was plenty of space, so we stopped.

We didn’t quite catch his name at first but it sounded like he said something like “Car Denny”. He immediately asked for a volunteer and I guess because my Denny was still happy from his Happy Lychee, he didn’t resist when I offered his services.

He asked Denny his name and when Denny said “Denny” he thought we were messing with him and replied “No. That’s My Name”. I said, “No, that really IS his name”.

For the record “Car Denny’s” name is actually KarDenni. He is an Orlando based magician and comedian. His show was really great.

Yes, he did actually locate Denny’s card

See

I don’t remember what he did with this

But I do remember he solved the rubik’s cube in about three minutes. It was really amazing.

So if you ever get a chance to see Kardenni, make sure you stop. Very entertaining.

Saturday Morning!

I woke up this morning still feeling like our trip had just begun. After two full days in the world we still had over a week of vacation ahead of us. Woo hoo! What a great feeling.

Since I had more time this morning I went for a run outside and ended up here.

Clearly I was either not yet awake and running so fast that HS just looked like a blur. I’m sure it wasn’t the later!

I know I usually post run pictures but apparently I didn’t stop for any this morning.

But when I finished my run I did do a little window shopping at the Boardwalk.

I think I took this one at the Boardwalk, but I’m not entirely sure. Doesn’t matter. It’s cute, so I’ll post it!

Today we were heading to AK, one of my favorite parks.

I think I was trying to "suck it in" here and apparently I can’t do that AND smile!

Photopass picture

Obligatory morning Tree of Life photo

I took this picture for anyone who might be interested in gluten free snacks

I love this boat

The infamous Vacation Club sign which started our VGF purchase

I can never pass up an opportunity to take a bicycle picture

or two

Continued In Next Post

And I love the theming on this food truck

It makes for interesting photos

Good

Luck

All from a food truck. Gotta love it!

Our first stop this morning

The sun was totally in the wrong position for this picture or my camera settings were way off or, perhaps, both.

The time 8:56 with a FP+ time of 9am. I didn’t know back then that you could go in 5 minutes early.

So I took more poorly lit pictures

Hmmmm - this one’s not too bad

Same picture with a car

Tick tock Tick tock

Finally it was 09:00 and we made our way through the FP queue. As usual there was no one (or next to no one) in the front row queue, so we claimed our spot

Up Next - Would I finally ride with the camera put away or could I not resist the call to take EE pictures?

Happy Lychee... got it. I like adult beverages that make me happy. :)

I'm finding more and more often that the "Arriving Early" to get a good spot philosophy is becoming less and less a thing. If people see any space at all, they'll fill it. Which is funny because nobody ever does that in the queues when they're specifically ASKED to fill in all the available space. :confused3

NOVA SCOTIA woot woot!!!!! You would be most welcomed anytime Mary Ellen.

Funny. Niagara Falls is on my bucket list (and I hope to scratch that one off this summer).

AHHHH Nothing like starting a day climbing Everest!!!

Holy mega update!

Food, magicians, AK, oh my! Looks like a great day and I'm still laughing at Car Denny. :)

Jill in CO

Yum! Food and Wine. My Mom and I are going back in October and it will be her first time. She's already highlighting dishes from the 2013 menues so she knows what she wants. :rotfl2: I had to warn her last night that some of the dishes could change for 2014.

One of these days I'm going to hit the boardwalk at night to see some of the entertainment. I've only been there during the day when the place is mostly closed up.

Looks like a pretty relaxing morning so far in AK. I was checking out your food truck photos to see if there were any hidden Mickeys. :rotfl: Didn't find any this time!

:thumbsup2 Me too! :thumbsup2

:lmao: Good point - they surely don't !

Yeah - I find the whole jockeying for position thing really annoying. I am of the philosophy - " if you want it THAT bad, take it!" It's not worth stressing over.

NOVA SCOTIA woot woot!!!!! You would be most welcomed anytime Mary Ellen.

If I ever plan a trip there I will certainly let both you and Wendy know. Of course, I have to stop going to Disney so much so I can actually plan a trip to go there. But every time I buy another AP I feel like I commit myself to a year of Disney trips. Not that it's a bad thing. ;)

Funny. Niagara Falls is on my bucket list (and I hope to scratch that one off this summer).

Niagara Falls is gorgeous. I've done the Maid of the Mist (which leaves from both the Canadian and American side), but the COOLEST attraction is the Cave of the Winds on the American side. You go down an elevator like 200ft and come out at the base of the falls. I won't tell you the rest but it was definitely a trip high light.

AHHHH Nothing like starting a day climbing Everest!!!

You can say that again!

Holy mega update!

I was going to go a bit farther but decided to stop. You know it takes awhile to put all those borders on. :rolleyes1

Food, magicians, AK, oh my! Looks like a great day and I'm still laughing at Car Denny. :)

We really did have a fun day in the World.

Which Car Denny are you laughing at? There were two you know! :rotfl2: It was funny that they both had the same name (well, sort of).

Yum! Food and Wine. My Mom and I are going back in October and it will be her first time. She's already highlighting dishes from the 2013 menues so she knows what she wants. :rotfl2: I had to warn her last night that some of the dishes could change for 2014.

Good point! But nothing like a little advanced planning. :thumbsup2 Your mom is going to LOVE F&W! 2012 was my first time and I just thought it was SO awesome! I couldn't wait to go back!

One of these days I'm going to hit the boardwalk at night to see some of the entertainment. I've only been there during the day when the place is mostly closed up.

Kardenni was pretty amazing. I wish I could remember all his tricks because they were impressive and he added some humor to the mix which made it that much better. I'm glad we decided to stop and join in!

Looks like a pretty relaxing morning so far in AK. I was checking out your food truck photos to see if there were any hidden Mickeys. :rotfl: Didn't find any this time!

I love AK. And I love to take pictures there but I do stink at finding Hidden Mickey's. :headache: I'm sure there's got to be one somewhere on that truck but far be it from me to find it.

Great update! :)

Thanks wiigirl! :thumbsup2

There are so many, many, many details in Animal Kingdom. One could take thousands of pictures in that park alone. You know my crew loves our AK time!

That's a fun little memory of the Boardwalk card guy. We're staying at Boardwalk the first three nights of our July trip, so I will be sure we get down there and see what the entertainment is on at least one of those nights.

F&W eats! My favorites kind!!!!!

An adult beverage that will make me happy in a short period of time is something that's right up my alley! :thumbsup2

My F&W pictures end up being all crooked an blurry, due to the food to wine ratio. I have plenty of them....just not.....good. :rotfl:

KarDenni, Car Denny. Same difference. :rotfl2:

Nothing better than that feeling of waking up and feeling like you have your entire trip ahead of you!
