The elliptical machine: forged by Lucifer himself

I call it the Demon and say that machine is what powers the fires of hell......I can only do 25 min before I am bored out of my ever lovin mind....it took me forever to work up to 25...at first I could only do 5 min....I love love the treadmill and see quicker and better results with it. The owner/trainer at my gym is a Elliptical lover and pushes it on you.....................

love the elliptical! make sure you have it set right. oooh, and if you have an arc machine (I think thats what its called), give it a go, too.

Well that's the thing too. I didn't see anyplace to adjust it for height etc. The guy who used it before (a students grandfather actually...man am I weak!) just got on and powered away. he's about 6 inches taller than me, so I figured there had to be a way to adjust for your height/stride.

Anyhoo...I did a shade over 30 minutes on the treadmill (2 miles) again today. Started on 3.5, worked to a 4.0 and felt FANTASTIC (like I could've gone all day). So then I bumped up to a 5 for five minutes to build a nice burn and then back to a nice solid jog.

Felt great! The gym has a TON of nautilus stuff so I started a circuit of arm/upper body stuff. I figure my legs will take care of themselves doing all the running but I have a thing for toned arms, so my goal is to have GUNS at my sisters wedding in June.

That is me too. Bored out of my ever lovin mind on this stupid contraption. I can do 20 minutes and that's it. And the last 10 are chanting, am I done yet, am I done yet. So sometimes I just quit at 11. ;)

Treadmill is broke and hubby won't buy a new one. I'm stuck with the elliptical and old fashion walking on the road. :rotfl2:

I am thinking of doing a trial membership at a gym just to try out the elliptical since most people rave about it. I have a treadmill at home and do at least three miles every day I am home. On days when I am at my office, I walk on the road for three or four miles. I am thinking of the elliptical just to do something different.

I'm training for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure 60 mile walk so I am thinking that the elliptical might give me a break from the treadmill since the training tips recommend doing some cross training to avoid overuse injuries.

I love the Elliptical! I am so glad to read that others toes go numb too! I am going to have to try going backwards for a little bit to see if that helps! I can't do the treadmill because I really hurt my knee on the treadmill, the elliptical is much easier on my knees.

:rotfl: Funniest thing I have read today! :rotfl:

I have really liked the elliptical machines in the past, but for some reason, the sides of my feet would go numb. :confused3

For me, if that happens, it's b/c my shoes are tied too tight.

Is the elliptical at your gym the kind with the arm things, too? i cannot do that one.

I can only do the kind where you just put your hands lightly on the heartrate monitor metal things, and only your legs move. Then I put my Kindle on the book ledge, set it to Interval (where it does 2 minutes easier, 2 minutes harder, 2 minutes easier, etc) for an hour, and get to it! First 30 minutes I just want to cry, and then I want to cry but at least I'm getting closer to the end for the next 30 minutes. And then I whine that night about my legs. It's my routine, I'm good at it. :rotfl:

But I say,if treadmill works for you, just do that. I can't do the treadmill yet...my body was NOT made for walking, but I have too much extra on my body right now to run...so I like the elliptical.

You inspired me to dust off my elliptical yesterday- I did 2 miles in 30 minutes! :thumbsup2
