Is it possible to turn around in the ride to face the other way? The reason I ask is that I want to take some action photo shots of the people behind me enjoying the ride. Think it would make a great photo.

Sitting backwards no but turning the top of your body to get a shot of the car behind you is totally possible. I have photos taken that way.

I would ask the people behind you, if you don't know them, if they mind you taking pictures of them.

I know I'd be a little weirded out if some people I didn't know were turning around in front of me and snapping pictures of me!!!

I didn't even think of that! :scared1: I thought OP meant people in her party, which is definitely do-able

LOL! I agree - I don't think (and didn't think) we were talking about taking pictures of random strangers.

As a PP mentioned, no dice on turning backwards completely. You are wearing a seatbelt.

However.

There is a Dumbo on blocks (at ground level) beside the ride, where anyone can sit and have their picture taken - it's not an 'action shot' since it is not in motion at the time, but it makes for cute photos nonetheless.

and found it easier to do it on that ride than on Dumbo. Flying carpets has 2 rows in the ride vehicle. Of course, these were members of my own family in the picture. Unless you knew we were on the ride though, you wouldn't think of these as action pictures.

Haha I'm a photographer and will be handing out a business card beforehand asking if it's alright, I think it would make a great action shot.

I am assuming that by handing out business cards, you would intend on drumming up business. You might want to check on that. Disney employs its own army of professional photographers, so they would probably frown on someone else taking commercial photos while on property. You would have to be very discreet at best.

Why would you be handing on business cards? To show you are a professional so its ok to take their photo? :confused3

Beware, if you do anything even remotely looking like you doing any kind of business i.e. selling things, soliciting business by handing out flyers, you will be stopped and possibly back roomed by Disney Security.

After that they may just tell you to stop, escort out of the park and/or ban you for life from WDW.

Even just handing an a card and asking if its OK may get a notice from the CM.

If it's your family/friends I can see you turning around to take their pictures. Otherwise I would find it weird in this day and age to take photos of strangers.

unless they've changed the restraints on Dumbo within the past couple of years, it's completely possible. I've done it (with other party members, not strangers). I'm not gonna post any photos of them out of respect, but definitely did it. You can even get them with the castle in the background if you time it right.

I'm just doing it to build up a portfolio, not for any money making purposes (www.samueljustice.net links to my flickr account). I don't see how it's anymore creepy than the photopass photos? Except for the fact I can offer to give the photos to said person for free in exchange that I can use them on my portfolio.

OK, I misspoke by saying "creepy." Now that I see you want to take strangers' pictures (who will most certainly have a child with them) so you can post it on the internet, I meant to say "CREEPY". ;)

Photopass photos are password protected and not available for the world to see.

Wouldn't you also have to get a model release since are in effect publishing them?

Yeah, sorry -- I'm going to have to vote creepy. And it should be pretty obvious how this is different from Photopass...

i don't think so because entering the parks is effectively giving consent.

but as mentioned, official park policy also prohibits the use of commercial photography on property unless previously authorized by Disney. myself and countless others have been questioned by security when taking photos.

as its a private space, they are well within their right to eject you from property and if you're staying on site, that means you get kicked out of the hotel as well.

Seriously dude. Don't do it. No matter how you spin it, you would be taking pictures and posting them on a website to further your career. Even if you are not getting paid for these pictures, you are using these pictures to demonstrate your skills and in turn, sell other pictures. That is a commercial use. And posting pictures of other people's kids on an internet site?? Not cool.
