The dreaded stroller.....

Okay so this is my dd's first trip to Disney and I'm torn over what type of stroller to take with us. Let me preface this with the fact that I already own 5 strollers. Yep that's right I own 5 strollers for one dd!

All of these are either too short, too big or too cheaply made to take with me on this trip. I want a lightweight / umbrella stroller with a basket and a canopy to keep her somewhat shaded from the sun. Also on my wish list I would like to have a cup holder for she and I but it's not a necessity. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

hmmmm. Could you be more specific? My "cheapie" Graco was absolutely perfect on 6 trips to WDW. And every time I didnt worry about it at all cuz it was so cheap.

Last year before we went I bought a Combi City Savvy. We love it. It was just the right size plus it has a canopy, carrying strap, small basket, reclines and only weighs 11lbs. No cup holders, but I bought a mesh bag, made by Maclaren, that straps to it and it has these two neoprene cup holders that will hold water bottles or soda bottles...plastic and paper cups don't do so well in it!

I am a stroller fanatic too, one kid--five strollers!!

After our Maclaren was broken into pieces on the plane on our last trip to WDW, we bought a Chicco C5 for our trip last week and I liked it a lot. It's not the perfect stroller, but it only cost $79 so if it broke I would not be as upset as I was when the $300+ Maclaren broke. It's lightweight, folds up easily like an umbrella stroller, has a carry handle, reclines a decent amount, has a canopy, 5 pt. harness, steers/pushes well, and has a decent sized basket.

What kind of strollers do you have? How old is your dd?

We took our cheap graco and were very happy with it. It worked out great for in the parks and airport, folded small for the buses, and for the price, I didnt worry about it disappearing, getting damaged on the plane, getting Mickey ice cream bars on it, etc. Ds napped comfortably every day in it.

Taking the GracoDuo glider for our trip! If it works well for here then it will work anywhere! I must say I am puzzled by all the $ other people spend on strollers. Maybe I'm crazy, but I got the floor model for our double and our single was a hand me down from my sister and they both work very well! More $ for me to spend elsewhere I guess! If I had 5 strollers DH would have a stroke! (as would I!)

I can't speak for the OP, but we have 5 strollers (though one is now broken so I guess just 4) and here's why. We got a huge Graco stroller with the infant carseat and I love it but after taking it to WDW twice I realized it was much too heavy to lug around on buses plus carry a baby and diaper bag so then we bought a Maclaren. We used that primarily as our travel stroller and kept it in the trunk of my husband's car when we were home. We live in a condo building so it is much easier for us to keep a stroller in the car than take it up and down all the time. So the big Graco stroller stayed inside and the Mac stayed in the car. Then after taking the train to my mom's house and carrying a carseat and stroller with me, plus the baby, luggage, and the diaper bag, we decided to just buy a stroller to leave at her house. When I take the train it's 99% of the time just me and my daughter so it was way too hard to carry all that stuff myself. The 4th stroller came cause my husband hated the Graco from day 1 and complained all the time about how much space it took up in the closet (remember, we live in a small condo), how heavy it was, that it squeaks, etc., but I still loved the features it has so I didn't want to get rid of it. We found a Combi that is very similar, but much lighter and smaller, so we bought that one and keep that in the house and the Graco now stays in my car. Then once the Maclaren broke on our WDW trip in December we bought the Chicco C5 mentioned above. After baby #2 arrives in August, we'll be buying a Peg Perego Pliko P3 cause I don't want a double stroller and that one has a bar for my daughter to stand on when the baby rides.

So, after that long story, that's why we have many strollers. Some that work here simply aren't great for vacation and the ones that work well for vacation just aren't as 'amenity-filled' as the ones we prefer at home.

How old is your DD? We took our 8.5 month old DS on his first trip. I bought a Combi (very lightweight, but has some nice features and didn't exactly break the bank). Instead, we ended up taking our heavier, full featured evenflo stroller for that trip. It worked out great for us. I think we are going to try the Combi for this trip (DS will be 13 mos old). We are trying to pack a little lighter. The only thing that bugs me is there is no tray for snacks or to put his cup but I have bought a few add-on things that sort of accommodate that instead.

I don't think I would buy a really expensive stroller and take it to Disney. I know many have, but I read so much about how the airlines can really bang up and damage your stroller. We figure if ours gets damaged, we'll go to Walmart down there and buy something for like $40 or $50...

Now I don't feel so bad - we have 4 strollers and 1 DC!

My daughter has 6 strollers and she is 18 months old. Each have diffrent reasons also. We have a Maclaren, 2 Peg Perego P3, Phil and Teds E3, and a Bugaboo.
We hated the Maclaren because it was so tippy. Would never take the Bugaboo or E3 and we have found the P3 to be the perfect travel stroller. Basket isn't huge but holds enough, cup holder in the front, not tippy, a HUGE sun shade, reclinable, and folds down easily.
You will find a diffrent opinion from everyone on this board. Go to a baby store and try a few out !! Good luck.

Hi...I'm amarberry, and I too, am a stroller addict. DD is 20 months old and we have 4...our big Peg Atlantico (I think Peg has now replaced this with the A3), 2 Combi's, and a cheapie Graco Umbroller. At this point, I use the Peg for walks in the neighborhood and to the store. The Combi's are in my car and DH's car. The Graco was an impulse buy at Target when it was on clearance for $14 and stays at my mom's house (personally, I don't think this stroller should even count...it was only $14!!!). DH thinks I'm nuts and that I really have a "stroller problem". I kind of agree, especially when I'm dreaming of what stroller to buy next...

Anyhow...back to the question at issue. We love our Combi's for traveling. They are super lightweight and fold up like an umbrella stroller, but the have decent padding, recline, have a good sunshade, and an easily accessible basket (personally, I think the Maclaren baskets are useless...sorry Maclaren fans, bring on the flames). We've taken the Combi to Disney twice, on a cruise, numerous car trips and we have never felt like we needed a bigger or more extravagent stroller. It's comfy enough that DD takes naps in it and it folds up into nothing for the bus ride back to the hotel!
