So I go to work this morning not feeling well. As I'm driving, I am getting more and more nausous. I get to work early and am sitting at a table with my head down waiting for my co-workers, parents and children to arrive (I work in early childcare). My co-worker arrives. The phone rings. She answers and she gets a look of horror on her face. She hangs up. Then I find out what was wrong. She says the four letter word we all dread..........

LICE :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared1: :scared1: !!!!!!!!!!!!

ICK ICK ICK. Yes LICE. I'm still scratching!

Oh dear! I am sooooo sorry.

One kid in DD's class got it this year. They were able to keep it from spreading to any more kids, but I sure felt sorry for that family.

Good luck. I can't even imagine what you have to go through to clean a pre-school.

I remember getting to help in the weekly head checks at my daughter's preschool after an outbreak!! 4 years later the policy was still in place...which I think is a good thing.

Those little boogers are oooglie!!

2x this year DD8 came home with that paper..:scared1: every time..

Knocking again on 2x4's

Oh I just have to hear that word and I'm itching, why is that? My dd and ds school went through that years ago, my dd has long dark thick hair and it was horrible, it took me so long to get it out of her hair. After that episode I think I scared her in sharing any kind of brush/hat etc. My dn has lice constantly, and my dh gets so mad because his sis does nothing to get rid of it or prevent it.

We had the scare for the first time this year in DD's pre-K class. The student with lice was sent home. I still freaked out after the pharmacist told me that by the time you notice lice, you've had it for 30 days :scared1:

I just watched a South Park last night about lice. It was played out almost like a Deep Impact or one of those end of the world movies but with the lice. It was pretty funny.

OH NO!!! I feel for you! I do home daycare and there was a little boy who had it once. After cleaning all morning and doing numerous loads of laundry no one else got it....Thank God!!!

I hope you get rid of it fast and don't keep having outbreaks.

Althoug getting it is yucky, please remember it has nothing to do with a persons cleanliness. (Yes, I know no one as said it does)

My niece and nephew came for their yearly visit one year and brought it with them, their Mom swears they got it on the plane, which they could have. However we didn't know until my Mom went to get her hair cut and they told her they couldn't FINISH cutting her hair!! because she had lice :scared1: She was not happy!

One of the fathers was laughing and telling me about it. A number of parents came in, were told of the "situation" and left with their kids. I can't say blame them, I would probably do the same thing.

I'm so glad I was able to go home sick today. As of when I left there were three kids with lice:sad2: .

When notices from the schools my kids go to come home with the, "There was a case of lice in your child's classroom...." I go into full blown scratching attacks. My kids know that it's lice check time for a few weeks. They even request head checks :rotfl: . So far we've been lucky and no one has ever had lice.

That's what we say, but what's even worse dn loves to come to our house to spend time with her older cousins and because we have a "normal" household compared to what she has (I can't even get started on her mom). It breaks my dh heart everytime she asks to come over, and he has to ask her if the lice is gone cause he knows his sis will lie to him about it.

Try fairytaleshaircare.com.

My daughter got lice from a little girl on the bus who was new and was seated with her. One of my friends told me about the rosemary repell leave in conditioner and now my daughter doesn't go a day without it. She hasn't gotten lice since. I didn't try the lice treatment, just the repellant (shampoo, conditioner and spray) after I had treated with Nix.

The little girl on the bus KEEPS lice (it's been a year and she has been sent home from school 6 times with it) and I have told her Mom about it but she told me that lice treatments are just too expensive. I don't understand this mentality.

My little girl refuses to sit near her. I feel bad for her but after dd had to deal with the treatment and near daily checks (I'm kinda ocd that way) she had enough. She told her bus driver several weeks later that she wanted her own bus seat because there were too many kids scratching their heads!:rotfl:

Aww that poor little girl. Just the fact that the mom told you the treatments are too expensive is sad. Maybe you could buy her some boxes. I know it's not your problem, but maybe she is really having a hard time financially. It would be worth it to me not to have the worry about my kids getting lice. Think what a difference it could make for the little girl.

To be honest, it's my cousin and that's a whole other thread. Let's just say she is an "it's all about me" mom. We have decided that she doesn't want to take the time to do the treatments. By the way, she drives a new Jaquar and they have nothing but name brand clothes.

I thought they were the "perfect little family" until they moved here last year and our eyes have been opened.

I do feel sorry for her and I guess I should buy her some but like I said, I could start a whole new thread on that topic. It's a matter of priorities and her kids are at the top of the list.

The sad thing is that they always LOOK so nice. I just don't get it.

:scared1:  :headache:

She can afford it and still doesn't treat her... that is horrible. I bet if you can't afford the treatments, surely local health depts would provide free.

There is no excuse for her behavior.. every one in their house must have them too don't they...

oooohhhh my head is itching so bad now!

We have come to the conclusion that she probably is TREATING her but isn't taking the time to follow through with everything it takes to get rid of them. They let her back in school so she would have had to get rid of the live lice.

I know when dd got them. I went OCD on the house. I packed up all the stuffed animals, bought new pillows and sheets for her bed, cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. New hair brushes, threw out all those pretty hairbows, ect.

I kinda think she's just lazy.

P.S
I didn't mean to highjack your thread to talk about my cousin. I'm sorry. I just started rambling.
