I took this picture from the Dock at Castaway Cay and I thought it showed the obstruction on these cabin's really well!

That is our own JayPD standing on his balcony on Deck 7. The rooms involved are that room and the one below on Deck 6. We had the Deck 6 room on the opposite side of the ship.
You can see a great comparison with a "normal" verandah as well as the navigators verandah next door. I slightly prefer the obstruction on Deck 6, it seems to be a little less of a block.
I think both cabin's are GREAT considering the cost savings, you pay the same as the navigator's verandah next door!!!

That is a great picture!!!! It sure does show it well- thanks for showing it!
I'd probably love the obstructed verandah- but I think I'd equally enjoy the navigator's verandah! So sad that we could get neither for our trip.. just a porthole (wahhhhh LOL)

What are those cabin Catagories and room numbers? We are looking at doing another cruise 2005 so info would be helpful. We usually do cat 9, deck two, but would love a veranda at a cheaper price!

What are the room numbers to the obstructed views for the verandahs? Anyone know? We always stay in a SPR.

They are: 7120, 7620, 6134, 6634.

We are in 7120 on the January 24th Eastern Magic!!!! WOW!

We are in 7120, which if I guess correctly that is the cabin that JayPD is looking out of. It used to be a cat.5 and was reclassified to a cat 7 as were the other three (the ones on deck six were cat. 6's reclass'd to 7's the ones on deck 7 were cat.5's reclassed to 7's)

When we first booked our room 6134 (Scratch I know your in 6634:)) this last February when I saw some photos from Barb's web site I had compaired those 2 type of rooms and I had determined at that time that the obstructed rooms 6134/6634 are the least obstructed of the obstructed rooms. Thank goodness that someone else agrees with my evaluation of those rooms.:hyper:

But I was just happy to have been able to book one! 'Cause when I first went to book, all were taken.

Can hardly wait to confirm our theory!

Is It January Yet?!?

I was in both rooms and I do want to emphasize it was a small difference, I could be happy with either!

Interestingly, we were upgraded from Cat 11 GTY to one of these rooms for a trip we booked 3 weeks before departure (7-night Eastern on the Magic - 1/10). UPS delivered the pleasant surprise today.

We hadn't requested these rooms, so I'm assuming that nobody else booked a category 7 and asked for them.
