Wednesday, December 13th:
This was pretty much an unexpected trip. But after a year of unexpectedly bad things happening, we both decided to try to change our luck and see how Disney does the Holidays â something I have always wanted to do. We were originally scheduled to go to the YC from Dec 14th-17th. But this being winter in New England, we had a last minute change of plans due to, you guessed it, the weather! Determined not to miss a moment of the WDW experience due to flight delays, we arranged to fly down the night before because we were expecting an ice storm the morning of our original flight. Mind you I didnâÂÂt even come up with this plan until Wednesday morning but, thanks to my travel agent and a little pixie dust, we managed to change our whole itinerary around without missing a beat! We were able to switch our airline tickets with less charge than we thought and were able to get into the YC a night earlier than planned (and they kept us in the same room for our entire trip!). We were also able to switch our TTC reservations so once we worked it out at the office, we were on our way!
Were met at the airport â after a slight delay â by TTC driver Mike. What a strange fellow he was. DidnâÂÂt wear his seatbelt, which I thought was odd, and he didnâÂÂt say much but when he did it was all anti-Disney. Note to TTC, if guests are paying to be driven to a WDW property, chances are they donâÂÂt want to hear negative things about Disney on the way!! I would still use TTC but would search the boards for a recommended driver.
Anyway, we arrived at the YC, which was absolutely beautiful. Got in around 10:00pm and had a rather easy check-in process. Went up to the room and quickly changed into something lighter â it was 78 degrees that evening and we were in long sleeves and turtlenecks! We had a standard view room that overlooked the convention area â it actually was very quiet with beautifully landscaped views. I had not faxed in room requests but I was happy in all aspects except that we could have been a little closer to the elevators - I'll be sure to fax ahead next time.
Having stayed at the BWV a few years back, I was so excited to be back in the BW area. We set out for a bite to eat and ended up at the ESPN Club. The food was good. I had a veggie cheeseburger and Mac had a real one. There werenâÂÂt too many people here and it was still loud with all the games going on but I wasnâÂÂt going to complain too much because I was at Disney a day early and the stroll from the YC to the BW was a great way to start our trip!
Tommorrow: No plans (yikes) until afternoon!!
