The Do-Over Report.**Updated 7/28 ** Day 1 MK!!!! w/oPICS!!!!

Yes, I admit I've been outnumbered....:sad2:

Don't feel too bad DM, I used to say Diss until I saw the light about a month or two ago when a newbie posted on the Welcome boards asking how to pronounce it and I believe it was a mod who explained it was Diz as in Disney and it made sense so I switched over to Diz.;)

ok, now I know I'm way stranger than y'all. For whatever "odd" reason, I always pronounced it by the letters, D I S like an acronym :confused3

Guess I thought it meant something like Disney Is Super

 Wanta rethink that invite to the stalkers board? (Please no, I promise I'll learn what all the letters mean):flower3:

Okay I am finally here and I haven't read your report yet but I will try to today... lets just say life has been crazy sine our return and this is the FIRST day I have been able to get a few minutes to check out all my DIS friends....

Yay! I have been worried about you. It's not like you to be away so long. Glad you're back! You will be starring in a future installment, but at this rate it could be a month away!:rotfl:

You and DM are cracking me up - how long you are dragging these TReports out! But, I'm loving it, because it keeps us in "vacation mode" for that much longer!!:cool1:

I "turned in my keys" yesterday - I'm officially "retired"! :woohoo: Off to go sit by my pool..... I'm loving this a little too much... :cool2:

Yay for you.:yay: Happy retirement. Sorry I haven't sent you the copy of our Policy and Procedures manual yet. We don't have it online yet, so I will have to mail you a hard copy and I live 30 minutes from my school and just haven't been out there in a while. They have been painting and putting in new carpet in my library this summer so I have been staying away from the mess. I will probably go in one day next week now that they are done and I can make a copy and mail it to you.

Thanks, Mandy!! :cool1:

Thanks, Laura! Did a lot of "soul searching" this year, but decided this is a good point in my life for a "change"! I will miss the kids, but Dana's heading to high school and will need me to be available to get her places... She's always been at the same school with me, so it was easier then!

Don't worry about the Policy & Procedures manual just yet. I wrote up a brief description for book processing and check out procedures and Sister was THRILLED with it. (typical NO CLUE of what goes on in the Library Administrator - you know the type - but she's a dear person) They aren't hiring a replacement - the teachers will be required to do a Library Skills Lesson once a week and a parent volunteer will run the Library. (I have to take deep breaths and remember it's not MY baby anymore.. :sad1: ) I live 2 miles from school, so I did tell Sister I would stop in and go over things with the "parent volunteer" when things were settled for next year. If I find that we need more than what I left them, then I'll ask you to mail that manual to me. Thank you for the offer. ;)

And how nice - new carpeting & new paint! But, did you have to move the shelves or books at all?? I moved my entire library across the hall to the new room 7 years ago- my DAD moved each shelf of books himself! What a gem! That was QUITE an experience, but worth it, as I was involved in the planning and design of the new Library. That's why it's a little bittersweet. I will miss it.

Oh... and I think it is really sweet that "you know who" and "you know who else" are emailing back and forth! I think she just sent him a photo of Mr. Mocha! :goodvibes ahhhh... to be that young again....:hippie:

Congrats on the retirement. LOL, if I were up there, I would probably be the parent volunteer. I spent many many hours helping in the primary school library where my DS went. Last summer we had to recheck EVERY, SINGLE book for new reading levels and points, along with arranging the library for a new librarian. Imagine if you will every book in the middle of the floor, and every shelf empty. :scared: This year they are painting, but hopefully won't have to move many shelves.

It was a lot of fun though, and I got to know a lot of the kids. Hopefully, I will be a volunteer in the Intermediate School this year.

Sounds like you are every librarian's dream! I didn't have many volunteers, since so many parents work outside of the home these days, but I had one in particular who was a gem. Volunteers are the lifeline of a school! Thanks for doing what you do! :goodvibes

I don't know about the dream part, but she did really want to flunk my DS in library to keep me another year.:lmao:

Seriously, it was a lot of fun. I'm very lucky to be able to be a mom without a paying job so I can help when I'm needed. (I started to say "stay at home mom" but I'm almost never home; I'm at school, then I tried non working mom, but that is the biggest oxymoron of them all.)

It was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it, getting to know my son's friends, and his not friends, and I know it won't be many more years before he's totally ashamed to be with me.

Kanga, Haley was looking over my shoulder the other day when I was on here and she said that your youngest was cute. love the TR, keep it coming.

I know what you mean! When I was home, people would say , "You don't work?" and I would laugh and say, "Oh, believe me, I WORK." :goodvibes I have always been blessed that I don't "have to" work, and didn't plan on working when my daughter was born - but once she started school and I was volunteering so much, they begged me to stay, so I went back to the "paying workforce". But, let me tell you, working in a small Catholic school actually cost me money those 8 years! :goodvibes The pay was very low and I put a lot of my own finances and time in to keep things going the way I knew they could be. Again - I was blessed that I could afford to do that and have a very supportive husband who agreed with my decisions.

Now I'm looking forward to going back to "volunteer status"! Already the high school has contacted me to help in the office! (I'm staying clear of the library though - I wouldn't be able to work in SOME ELSE'S Library! :goodvibes )

Watch out, Laura... sounds to me like Luke is going to be a "heartbreaker"..

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been away for awhile. we have had company from out of town and then today we hosted Luke's end of the year baseball party at our pool and we just finished. I think it will be tomorrow before I can post my next installment.
Thanks, I think, about my "ladykiller son". He has always been hot for the ladies ever since he was 2 years old. Scary to think what the teen years hold for us.:scared1:

I have lost my Mojo.:scared1: I really don't know why, but I have just not been in the mood to update, so I appologize for anyone who cares, but I'll return when I get my groove back! :woohoo:
