The disney survival bag swap... on hold

Just a quick note that I have the bag and will pass it on tomorrow. The Aloe Vera helped with my sunburn nicely! Be aware that the Blue Disney Mist/Fan bottle battery compartment flips open easily and the batteries fall out. We've lost 2 sets of batteries already. There is lots and lots of laundry soap left. Even with Mauldita's extra blue bag, the bags are literally bursting at the seams. Additions aren't really needed. We may have some leftover food stuffs we will put in grocery bags for the next person.
Thanks for the survival! Cold front arrives tomorrow.

I thought we left the cold weather behind in New England, but apparently it followed us! Got the bag (thanks sasmmb!) and will inventory/post what's in there before we pass it along next week...lots of goodies at first glance, but where are those "leftover food stuffs" that you promised me?!?! Didn't make it to the grocery store tonight and I could really go for some cookies right now...

Too bad you weren't here in Texas, I made some of those yummy cinnabon sugar cookies tonight. And I still have two left over. Talk about making the house smell yummy.

Kari is very grateful for you bringing the cold weather down.

Sorry MC97! We were running late, and sick on the last morning so ended up eating what we had instead of our breakfast ADR. There is some cereal in the cooler bag. Have a great trip! And the cooler weather is better than the mid-90's and high humidity we experience. Hard to drink wine from F&W in that weather!

Is there a recent assessment of what is in the bag? I don't want to bring things I don't need. Perhaps this is somewhere in an earlier post???

Wow, it's amazing how much you can fit into a little space.

Well there you go coastie... that's what's in the bag.

Thanks for posting what's in the bag. I know my DD4 is going to L_O_V_E those Disney toys!!

Sandra,
Life got in the way and I didn't send the money or the halloween bag back. I am so sorry! I beg forgiveness and promise to make a new outfit for the bag. BTW, we are now May 28th through June 6th, BCV. If all goes well and DSS can go that is. If not we are planning a quick March trip.

WOW... Thanks for posting the pic of all the goodies in the bag. I've been making dining reservations this week so I really getting excited about our trip. This made my day!

Hi, Sandra.

We are planning a trip for next July. Could you please put me on the following dates? Many thanks!

I'll be seeing you in about 3 weeks!

I thought this was more of a survival bag - not a gift bag? :confused3

I'm going in December and would be interested in joining the swap, but I'd like to wait and see what is in the bag as we get closer. I would be more interested in using the "survival" type items (toothpaste, laundry soap, hand sanitizer, etc.) than all the toys. I'm afraid our kids would have a bit of a melt down when they didn't get to take the cool light up toys home! :) Is there a bag with just the survival items and one with just the toys? If so I could only open the one with those items in it. Just wondering!. This is a great idea!

THe picture doesn't show it all as I used the bag in September. There was MANY things to use. Sunscreen, laundry soap, hand sanitizer, sample toothpaste (sealed), snack items, first aid items, etc. besides the fun things. The fun things weren't just toys. There was a bucket and floaties for the pools, clipboards, pins, index cards for those who forget or lost their autograph books, travel size coloring book and crayons you could drop in the bottom of a stroller or in a bookbag to help keep lil ones entertained while in long lines or waiting for the parade, batteries (who wouldn't appreciate these if their camera batteries went dead), A an to attach to a stroller, etc.. This is just a few of the things I can remember.

Yes a "true" survival bag would be just the neccessary items, but trust me having light up toys, Kiddie items, etc was a Godsend for my sanity and DD entertainment. Actually in the past, we have bought the spin toys and a week being home they ended up in the bottom of the toybox. DD used the spin toy the first week we were there but the second week, she could have cared less and it went back in the suitcase...never missed it after that. But the drawing/coloring items--something I would have never thought to pack--saved the day when we were sitting in the heat waiting on the parade.

Since Sandra isn't available to comment right now (she's traveling), in her defense I would like to add this small note. Please remember, she started this bag with items of her own plus she replenishes out of her own pocket. To make a survival bag work please remember to add whatever items you don't use at the end of your trip to the bag. Something she might not have though of that you might add might be the one thing that makes the survival bag a blessing for the next swapper.

Thanks Maddi! I'm looking forward to the bag -- and I can easily see how the "non-survival" things will become part of my 'survival'!

I had the same concern with our daughter, so the first night I sorted the items. The large suitcase has the "survival" items; the smaller Nautica bag has all the "fun" items; and the small cooler has kitchen/laundry items...or at least this is how I left it when we departed on 10/22!

It's both...I also think a "survival" item versus a "gift" item is in the eye of the beholder or should I say in the eye of the screaming four year old!

No need to defend Sandra! I already PMd her for my dates. ;) I was just wondering, that's all. I have also told her that I'm sending her some minor items. I'd like to see this still going - when I get there! :thumbsup2

TY all! :grouphug:
