The Disney Confessional

Wow, I had no idea taking the mini shampoos/soaps was a "sin." This practice was actually encouraged by a recent local news show -- and not just at Disney hotels, but any hotel.

Our local battered women's shelters can really use the stuff. One of the reps on the program did bring up Disney/Universal theme park hotel soaps/shampoos because having those in rooms where children of abused women end up staying can help put them at ease by having Disney stuff in the room. The lady on the program even talked about making sure to remove all the soaps/shampoos daily so that the maids will replenish them every day of your stay.

I just can't imagine taking home soaps/shampoos at any hotel is a sin. Isn't that part of what you pay for?

But back to sins, hasn't anyone mentioned acid trips on Grad Night yet?
I have no problem taking all the toilteries from any hotel room. I paid for the room and I consider them part of what I paid for. I also take the pen and scratch pad too. I do leave the linens, pillows, comforters and other furnishings though.;)

The toiletries I usually also donate to the local battered women's or homeless shelter. Every so often my employer does a collection so it's quite convenient to bring them right to work...

I don't have any new sins to confess, mine are all similiar to other posters. And like others I didn't know must of them were sins.

And they are:
1. I have reused mugs
2. I have had my daughters sit at a table while I ordered the food.
3. I have taken home towel animals
4. I have used pool towels in the room (but always returned them to the pool bin the next time we walked by the pool)
5. I have taken the extra shampoo and conditioner home (this one really boggles me as to why its a sin since I use my own stuff while I am there so I can take it disney ones home as a little disney reminder)

I can proudly say I will not be committing the following sins on my very next trip. 1,2,3,5 (the key words being on "my next trip " because we are staying at the Dolphin and my daughters aren't coming on the trip. No promises on any other future trips)

Isnt that a "sin" onto itself? I always thought the Swan/Dolphin were the lesser of the hotels here on the DIS..LOL

Yes, it is. A DIS sin. So is staying offsite where you can't have the full 24/7 Disney experience.

And let's not mention Universal...

I love the disney hand lotion, so yes, I hoard it and I take as much of it as I can home. I even buy a bottle at the gift shop.

I kept my penguin towel animal from my last trip. It currently sits in a little wicker basket on my chest of drawers.

I regret nothing.

I always take the toiletries home. I did bring home my mickey mouse towel animal, along with the card that says, "it all started with a mouse". I have never taken a towel or anything else home. I have used my mugs at other resorts, but only on the same visit as they were bought. I always bring napkins home, and wish I had brought more.

No way!! People on the DIS think they are the "lesser of the hotels?" Ha! Do DISers know how many DIS Mods stay at the Swan and Dolphin?:rotfl2: I'm always noticing that.

I love :lovestruc staying at the Swan or Dolphin. There is no way I'd put that on my sins list.

I did realize people think it is a DIS to stay off site, but a lot of people really love staying off-site in a big condo. :)

Oh dang another sin I wasn't aware of that I was commiting.......sighhhhhhhh
lol

We've pool-hopped many times before.
Also, when we just drive up for the day we park at DTD, hop a bus to a hotel and the hop another bus to the park.

We've also held tables at the food court and taken home towels (just once) and other things.

We also squeeze five people in a room.

I bought a meal at Wolfgang Puck Express, brought it over to Earl of Sandwich, and ate it there. I don't think that's a sin, though, haha.

Oh...and this is a huge DIS-sin.

But...

I really like Universal, too. And I've stayed on-site there. And enjoyed it. :duck:

haha i figured this one would bother some people, but hey since we are in the mood to confess i figured id go for it. but to my credit, when we did smoke in undesignated areas we always did it away from people. and im sorry to all you none smokers but get off your high horses its bad enough youve made it to where we cant even smoke in a bar in almost every city in america, lets us at least be able to smoke outside, and especially when we are away from everyone else. i realize that most people who dont smoke also tend to really not like smoking in general, they dont like the act of smoking, they dont like the smell, i understand that, but you know half the time people have made some rude comments to me about my smoking outside (away from disney no one said anything or even seemed to be botherd by it at disney, then again that could also be cause we did it away from people they probably didnt even realize it wasnt a designated area) its normaly from someone who walked to where ever i was, made some comment or did one of those fake little coughs (likes its cute, its not) you saw that i was smoking if it bothers you dont walk my way. i was here first! ok thats enough of a rant for one day...

No, we just don't want to die.....

Before I begin:
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I cannot accept,
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people
I had to kill today because they pissed me off.

And, help me to be careful
Of the toes I step on today as they
May be connected to the ***
That I might have to kiss tomorrow.

Amen.

Here I confess my Disney and DIS sins that I remember:

ANGER
*I have lost my temper in The Happiest Place in the World many, many times. I have cursed out a man who made idiotic comments about my parents in their ECVs after my dad had heart surgery and my mom had chemo back in 2007. I do believe I was forgive for that as a CM smiled at me, and CMs are angels in disguise.
*I lost my temper at my husband :tigger: when he went into uber type A personality with his touring plans, and I did dump him fully clothed into the hotel pool.
*I have many times been impatient with people while waiting in lines, while getting my heels smashed with strollers, while getting pushed and shoved in shops and crowds, and in many other situations. I have tried to limit my sin by removing myself from temptation as much as possible- using fast passes, going at lesser-crowded times, waiting out closing times by shopping and going to rides instead of the exit, and renting my own transportation.

GLUTTONY
*I confess that I have participated in the Disney Dining Plan, at times both getting it free and paying for it; however, I have learned my lesson and it is way too much food and will never ever bow to this particular temptation- unless I'm able to stack discounts... I'm only human...
*I confess that there have been days that I have had more than my share of Zebra Domes, Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Bailey's Cakes from the Ireland Booth at the Food and Wine Festival, and many other delicious sweet treats. I promise to do my best to broaden my horizons and not to leave out other treats that the Disney chefs work so hard on. :rotfl:
*I confess that with just :tigger: and myself, I don't see the need to buy multiple refillable mugs, so we buy one to share. We don't reuse them on multiple trips, we just use the same one between ourselves on the same trip, and pour one person's drink into a travel paper mug, then go back and refill the mug for the car.
*I confess that I have partaken in many Disney buffets, including but not limited to The Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, Boma, and Chef Mickey's, and it was not for character interaction.

LUST/EXTRAVAGANCE
*I admit, that since I've been able to choose my own accommodations at Disney I have stayed Deluxe. However, I feel that it is the will of fate, not a temptation off evil powers, because things seem to work out- discounts for when we're going, or PIN codes, or some other deal that makes our choice the same as a moderate, or our budget able to stretch to meet the accommodation. If we ever need to stay at a moderate, I will be glad to be at Disney, and will not complain unless I have bedbugs. Or horrible service. Or crazy teenagers running through the hallways. Or other complaints that I see are validated here on the DIS.
*I buy new socks for our Disney trips. There is probably nothing wrong with our socks, I just get a kick out of having new socks for Disney.
*I do look for a unique souvenir to get from our trips- usually a Christmas ornament, but sometimes a piece of jewelry that may or may not be real.

GREED
* :tigger: and I went trick-or-treating during MNSSHP last year, and we plan on doing it this year as well. We also plan on purchasing a Mickey bucket to hold more candy. However, I try to negate this by giving out the candy to the CMs at the hotel, and kids that we meet at the hotel.
* We make our ADRs 180 days out, and occasionally we have multiple ADRs for a meal. Last trip, :tigger: made the ADRs and didn't realize that he made multiple ones under different phone numbers until the day of, so we handed off the extra reservation to people in the park.
*We send one person off to get fast passes for certain attractions. Depending on who you talk to, this is either a sin or not, but I'm confessing so it may be covered.
*When we go to a quick service, one of us will get in line, while the other gets the incidentals (ketchup, mustard, straws, napkins), and then finds the table and cleans it. We don't see the need in both of us to be in line, and since we go during down seasons, we've not ran into the queue issue I've read about. We have always shared our table with others if it's been an issue.

SLOTH
*We rent our own transportation rather than deal with the hassle of WDW transportation, which cools us down faster.
*We swim at our own resort in the middle of the day.
*We swim outside of posted hours.
*We have saved tables/chairs at the pool.
*We have ordered room service.

PRIDE
*We have waited for the perfect picture of the castle/golf ball/ ToT, and will do so.
*We waited in line for our photopass picture, and will wait for it to be perfect, and get many many takes.
*We have done the private photopass package, and actually got some good pictures.
*I have ridden IASM listening to the melting doll song from the Johnny Depp Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

ENVY
*I envy those who are perfect, who make no mis-steps, and those who have no doubts or no shadows on their lives. I have many, and wish that they would leave. That's why I go to Disney, because that is one of my happy places, where I feel that I'm not judged, and can find the magic, even if I want to poke fun at it.

My Dad snuck into the Magic Kingdom.

Okay, here's what happened... WE (me, my mom, my Dad, and my two DD's -ages 2 and 4 at the time) leave POR to go to the MK...we drive in our rental car from POR, park...drag the kids onto the tram that takes us to the monorail, take the monorail all the way to the great pearly gates of the Magic Kingdom and we all have our park pass cards except my Dad...he has left his back in the room at POR... It would've taken him a really long time to go all the way back to the room just for his card and its not like he hadn't paid for admission into the park b/c he had.... My oldest DD's name could also be a man/boy's name, so he picks her up and holds her so that she kind of looks small and uses her card (even though it is clearly labeled "child") ... and he breezes right in no questions asked...I was so nervous like the Disney police were going to take us in...but no one ever knew!!

Another time I was there with my family and I had just turned 21...my brother, mom, dad and I had finished lunch in the Mexico section of Epcot...my dad and I had had a few margaritas too many... we got on the Mexico boat ride and start rocking the boat back and forth singing really loudly---they actually had someone get on the loud speaker and ask us to stop rocking and singing...then we were giggling!!

we get to the water park at rope drop. find 2 loungers near a DSA. put down our towels, books, bags, etc. and reserve the chairs for ourselves for the day. (hey! we got there early to get these seats by the DSA for a reason!)

I confess to bringing a delightfully cute towel animal home with me (also with convincing my children that mousekeeping said I could have it :rotfl:)
I confess to getting onry with and hence giving my teenage daughter a nice little lecture in DHS
I also confess to ordering adult CS meals for my disney child on free DDP

I have no problem taking all the toilteries from any hotel room. I paid for the room and I consider them part of what I paid for. I also take the pen and scratch pad too. I do leave the linens, pillows, comforters and other furnishings though.;)

The toiletries I usually also donate to the local battered women's or homeless shelter. Every so often my employer does a collection so it's quite convenient to bring them right to work...

My toiletries did not come from my room. They came off the Mousekeepers carts. And they were not just a few of them, they were in cases. One case shampoo, one case soaps... Just have to re-mention that BIL's were the ones who took it, I just accepted it on the plane...

I confess I use my cell phone whenever I like.

There was a very nasty thread where all cell phone users where send to hell because they take away the joy of others and obviously Cell phones users could kill others :rotfl2:
After snooping around I found that the same person that condemned other users for this uses her phone also in the parks.
So I'm curious what is a bigger sin. Using your cell in the parks or being hypocrite and condemn others?:thumbsup2

I guess our SIN is in 2006 we had the DDP but my grandparents did not. They didn't want it. This also included our oldest DD who was on their reservation. We used some of our credits to buy their dinner at CM for Thanksgiving and breakfast at CRT and all of our DD's meals. We didn't know it wasn't allowed as they gladly took them all off our cards. We didn't do it again as we all got free dining last time.

We have good friends who will be there the same time as us staying at POP. Our kids all want to go swimming one day together. I will probably either let my kids swim there or let them come to our pool but will justify it by the fact that my grandparents have never and will never be in our pool so their 2 kids can take their place. The reverse is also true as they are also going with their non-swimming grandparents. :rotfl:

As for mugs. Our first were the "lifetime mugs" but they were so used we never could bring them back anyway. Last year I LOVED the mugs and had a friend buy me one when they went down. She bought it as they were leaving and didn't use it (crazy I know, I told her buy it, use it and then give it to me.) Anyway, if we wern't getting them with the QSDP this trip I'd pprobably bring it since it wasn't used at all, but snce we are I won't be. I am bummed they are the same though. Shoudln't have spent $16 on it last year but it was so colorful I was afraid they'd change it and I'd miss out.

Wondered where the thread went. BTW, that particular person did own up to causing all that ruckus just for the laughs. I do not forgive sins of that nature...only ones against the mouse!

Keep it coming my imperfect flock!

O but you do give out the holy mouse communion cookies as my son asked when he was young?:lmao:
