The other event of the weekend. There was an armed robbery last night at the house across the street. The man who was robbed is a Vietnam war vet with a plethora of guns at his disposal but he was outside in his yard. It is things like these that are just more of an incentive to get out of this place as soon as possible.

When I first moved to the DC area back in '84 I lived in a not-so-good neighborhood (I didn't know any better). Police raids were a regular occurance...I was very glad to get out of there and move on... Armed robbery is a step up from breaking and entering tho - hope you guys stay safe!

There is a thread on the DIS with tips on moving to Florida. It mostly invovles snakes. BLECH. But yours is much more to the point I think.

There are places to live that are nice. Everyonce in a while for a couple of square miles, you find a nice spot. But to get out of that town you have to drive through some not so great places. Florida has fallen victim to itself. People come here from eveywhere looking for this great place. Well to have that great place, they need their Starbucks, McDonald's, Home Depot, Publix, Whole Foods, Fresh Market and of course Taco Bell. The people that work at those places need to live somewhere. So on their $7-$10/hr wage they are supposed to live where the average home value is $255K. It can't be done. Places in California are having the same issues I have read in WSJ. The rich folks forgot to set up places (nice places) for the people that work for them to live in. So, sooner or later they will have to start making their own lattes.

But the foreclosure market is BOOMING out here right now...if you are looking to find a deal or two there are a few in my neighborhood! Heck I think 1/3 of Tracy is in foreclosure right now or will be soon. Ok not quite that bad. But not good for those of us who might want to sell and build elsewhere - and are just watching our equity go down the drain. Guess we stayed a bit too long.

And I have not read about any armed robberies lately. The occasional "I left my car running to warm up and when I came back it was gone" story but no armed robbery.

Might have to take DS to the county pool for awhile this evening after work.....hummmmmmmm.....that would prolong being able to start Happy Hour tho......dilemma......be a nice mom or a selfish mom...... Back from doctor's BTW: no puemonia. Just a bad "upper respiratory infection" - here's a new inhaler and a strong antibiotic. Whew! So Cheri's gonna live! well, none of that for awhile I guess

TRM- I haven't weighed in on the names yet. What about a sort of blend of what's been suggested? Erin Brynne? I can just hear it now when she's in trouble "Erin Brynne McDougald!" (at least that's kinda how we finalized our kids' names )

Cheri, thats great that you are gonna live! You can't go before the cruise next year.

I just realized the date and how close you are Johnna! You could go at any time now. Were you early or late with Ryan? (I was 10 & 9 days early with mine). You do know, when the time comes you have to pop in and give us all a quick post before you leave for the hospital. I just hope it happens before I leave on vacation. Best of luck!

OK, so I leave work on time...pick up DS from "camp", come home & throw some marinade on some meat, change into bathing suit & am at the pool by 6:00. At 6:15 some kid throws up in the waterplay pool that DS wanted to play in (the one with the big water slide). So THAT pool is closed for the duration. Now have to use the "main" pool. Alright, leave pool at 7:20 to come home & cook dinner and start belated happy hour with the Captain. Throw meat on grill. Go out to turn meat.... Ran out of gas!!!! Send DH out for a new tank. Home Depot was OUT of gas! Trip to expensive gas station....JUST NOW back from gas adventure (it's 8:45) and re-preheating grill....now don't ya think THAT will teach me to be a nice Mom and take DS to pool & piddle away the evening when we could be on our 3rd or 4th Captain!! Hummmm. Speaking of...it's time for some more Captain!!

You can put an offer in on mine as well if you need to be closer to the Bay Area or Silicon Valley.

The baby name game continues. Ainsley Corinne. DH does not really like Brenna and he says Ainsley is just weird. I guess it's back to the drawring board.

CamColt - Ryan was kinda sorta right on time. They were telling me the 23-26 and she was born the 24th. Dr. says I won't make it through the weekend. But I think that is because he really wants to induce me to ease his schedule. If I had to judge by his waiting room today, I would say 3/4 of his practice is due in the next 2 weeks!

I have another appt on Thursday. But I will definitely keep all y'all posted.

But Betsy understands. I gots to see the little miracle to give her a name. Ophie has jinxed us however and says we cannot pick out a girl name simply because its a boy.

I would curse Ophie but she is so cute. But what if she is right!? That would be pretty funny in a not so funny sort of way.

Well - waiting for the carpet cleaners. Dang pets and their bodily functions on my nice clean carpets. DD went to the movies with a friend and her mom. Then it's off to Goodwill. I been cleaning closets! Sick huh? My mom brings it out in me.
