One other bit of news on my end is that last month I applied for the Walt Disney World Mom's Panel. I found out Saturday that I actually made it to the second round of the application process!! :woohoo: I honestly wasn't expecting to.

So that means I'll be busy answering the next batch of questions this week, which are due on Friday. One of those questions has to be answered with a video (under 1:00). So, I need to get myself a haircut! :rotfl2:

Congrats! I received a similar email the other day (except it thanked me for applying, but I was not a 'chosen one'.)

I will be rooting for you! :thumbsup2 <== thumb

Were we talking about bringing families? I thought this was a guys only trip...

Doc, how else am I going to convince DW to let me go to WDW?

I can talk her into a day or 2 with the guys, but a whole vacation? She gave the greenlight for more BLT points, but the friend Disney hater I mentioned? He is married to her best friend/ college roommate. I was not allowed to arrange any DISDad meets until he decided how many days and what Theme Parks they were attending in attempt to coordinate our vacation with them. I was permitted to book ADRs but have been on the computer changing/adding some as they are ending there WDW vacation today and heading to the beach tomorrow.

I think the idea of a "Dis Dads Convention" would be to do it during a value season, to minimize cost, and to plan it for a long weekend for the guys only. People could have their family trip the week before, and then just extend for themselves for the long weekend; or come down early and have the family meet them at WDW after the convention. That way, we spread the options for family vacations over two weeks, instead of trying to coordinate everyone on a single week. And remember, we're talking two to three years out. There should be plenty of time to plan ahead.

In other news - we've had a cancellation for tonight's podcast recording session on Disney tours. I could really use another participant or two who has experienced one or more Disney tours. Right now, it's just DisDadDoc and me. While Chris does have a lot of tour experience to share, it would be nice to have a couple more panelists. If anyone else is interested and available to record tonight at 9:00 p.m. Central Time, please message me on Facebook or Email me at my screen name here @disdads.com

Wow. You take a few days off of the boards and you miss quite a bit...

DisDads meet at WDW, that would be awesome! :thumbsup2

I would most certainly tell my wife is was a business trip and for tax write-off purposes bringing her would negate the tax benefit. Seeing as she neither does the taxes nor understands most of our write-offs, this plan has a 13% chance of working. In the event of the other 87%, I would simply tell her that I planned on eating an unhealthy amount of bacon and need the second seat on the flight in addition to my own, making it too expensive for her to come.

:thumbsup2

We have to make this happen! Let me know what I can do to help make this dream come to pass!:thumbsup2

We have to have the man who started all of this there :thumbsup2:cool1:

Boy, I take a few days off and see what I miss?!

I'd be definitely in for this! A few threads ago, I brought up doing a Dis Dad's trip, but it probably got buried in bacon posts. :confused3

I would agree with Aaron that we should stay away from affiliating with any organization. Plus, from my own personal experience incorporating a fraternity-type organization, it can be a nightmare (and this was a well-established group filled with attourneys that already had a charter!). I would recommend starting some regular annual trips first and seeing how it plays out.

I think if we use our "agent" friends we could get some good deals at the values which wouldmake it more attractive to everyone.

Ansolutley! If we plan out a 2-3 years that gives us time to save and find the best deals. I would be willing to share a room to save on costs......except Tim has to share with Barry :lmao:

Has anyone herd from Dave since he got back, haven't seen him post in awhile, hope everything is OK:confused3

I like the idea of value season, have only had the chance to meet Mark, and would like to meet more of you. But, I could not imagine WDW without DW and dds. This place was basically unknown (reference Trip Report), and she introduced me to WDW and everything, including this band of misfits. Now, i've taken that to a whole new level of WDW appreciation, and realize there will be one day my dds will marry, start their own lives, and make their own Disney memories with their family. And, one day I will not have DW to make these trips with. But, until then, I won't be at Disney without them. If it works out that we are all here at the same time, I can break away for convention time with the DisDads. Just my $.02.

Sorry I had to miss the podcast. The school sprung a college fair on me for tonight. Her HS is the only one in Miami-Dade that has its own college fair and it is a pretty big deal. Hope you or Mark got my earlier messages and were able to replace me.

I also want to brag a little to everyone.

The good news is that two recruiters from schools DD is interested in spent a lot of time with her and basically guaranteed her admission. They talked money with me and because of her grades, the school will give $15 to $20K in scholarships. Now all I ned is to come up with the rest. Any contributions would be welcome.

I may need to change my allegiance to Seton Hall or St. Johns. At least during basketball season. Feel pretty good right now. I will worry about the bills later.

Definitely brag-worthy news - congrats!

Chris and I made the decision to delay recording until Thursday night. If you're available Thursday night at 9 p.m. Central Time (10 p.m. your time) we'd still love to have you on. Just let me know.

Deal. But I'm eating beans all day just to make sure Tim gets a proper Dutch Oven every night.:thumbsup2

That's great news! I know you used to live in the Northeast, but does she remember what cold and snow are? That's going to be quite a shock coming from Miami!

Good Morning!

Love the idea of DDC taking over WDW for a weekend! If summer is too pricey, what about MLK jr day weekend?

Hard to imagine going without DW and the kids. I've been wanting to do SW weekends forever but DW is not interested and thus... I've been unable to do it.

Congrats! I received a similar email the other day (except it thanked me for applying, but I was not a 'chosen one'.)

That's a bummer that you didn't make it to the next round, John. I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for the support!

So does this mean you're not buying a place at Golden Oak? :confused3

Congratulations to you and your DD. She has got to be leaning toward Seton Hall right now though. pirate:

You know, it is too bad they're doing away with ESPN the weekend. That would have been a perfect weekend for the DIS Dads to invade the World.

Morning Dads.

Listened to the value resort podcast on the way into work this morning. Great job guys. There was a lot of good information in it.

A great day of relaxation at BLT. A beautiful day. A little cloudy, mostly sunny, with no rain. We woke up at 9:00 AM after being at MNSSHP til after midnight. Been at the pool since then. Came up and took showers, dressed up, and heading to Narcoosee's for lobster dinner. I have a really good buzz going from drinking the Stella Artois and soaking in the hot tub. I'll take a pic tonight and see how many snooty snots thumb their noses at me. :3dglasses

Sounds like a great day. That' the kind of post we can live vicariously through.

I would like to suggest a date on or around 11/11 for the DDC convention. That is the anniversary of the 1st DDC post Nathaniel did back in 2007.
