OK so this probably belongs on the Rant Thread...but it needs to be said. This whole May 21st EOW thing bothers me...here's why.
<Begin RANT>
We have a guy who gives a well reasoned answer to why he thinks the self
proclaimed prophet is a nut job...like this...
My concern is what people will think of Christians. Granted, we've had this happen before. Most notably in 1844 with William Miller, in the 1970's through many popular Christian writers, and again in '94 when Camping's last prediction failed. Funny thing about that - someone who claims to be an oracle of God, biblically, has to live by some pretty strict standards. For instance, every prophecy HAS to come true, exactly as it was prophecied, or they were immediately dragged out of the city and stoned to death. Why? Because, by proclaiming themselves to be the mouthpiece fo God, they are assigning themselves, and their character, to that of God - literally saying "as I am, so is God". So Camping, having proven himself to be a false prophet, is condemned already and no one should take what he says at face value.

Regardless, my main concern is over the view of the universal Church as a whole. I worry that people will use this false prophet as a brush to paint all "christians" and the overall view toward irrelevancy will get a huge boost.

Not that it's been easy for us lately. Think about it - when was the last time you saw a Christian on television as a strong moral character who was faithful to the end? Christians are often painted as pedophiles, or closet homosexuals, or as being harsh and judgmental of everyone around them while ignoring the obvious (to everyone else) sins in their own lives. Moralism rules the day and the greatest social sin of all is judgment of any kind. Which in itself is funny because those who stand up and point fingers at Christianity as a harsh, judgmental ideology are themselves being intolerant of and abrasive toward, Christians.

And for his response he gets reminded of the "rules"...like this...
Although I do not believe they know the date of the rapture, I do believe we are nearing the end of days. ::yes:: however, I am going to respectfully bow out of this topic as it is too close to discussing religion, which is against dis rules as per number 5 of the guidelines. http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

Then there's some talk about a word "tolerance"...all is well.

Then some more...probably well deserved...pokes at the whole May 21st issue.

Then someone comes and paints a whole group with a VERY broad brush.
Well, it's 6:03pm on Saturday, and I'm still here...guess all those Christians were wrong...:lmao:

He is reminded by one or two that he should not paint them with the same big brush as those who are/were unlearned enough to believe the whole thing to start with...then more jokes about the whole May 21st thing.

I call this PEANUT BUTTER!!!

Keep this stuff on Facebook guys or somewhere else. As none of it is humorus...actually I find it rather sad.
<End RANT>

That is all...back to our regularly scheduled non-topic.

I am here too...I was mowing the grass at 6 hoping to be raptured before I finished...but alas...the yard looks good and I am still here:rotfl2:

Good job on the DisDads meet at Yankee Stadium Chris...looking forward to seeing pictures of it!!!

Thanks. :thumbsup2

I totally agree!! Thank you chris! I think I will take the wife for a couple nights in the city!
Now I have to find a hotel that is appropriate! Anyone know? Around time square?

You're welcome. It should be a blast!

I live about 30-40 minutes north of the stadium and I can take a Metro-North Train home. So a few beverages works for me.

Well put. Actually, I know that I probably don't share many of the political or religious affiliations with some of you, but I rarely if ever disagree with the well reasoned coments that are laid out on these pages.

Only one comment: isn't it </end rant>? :thumbsup2

Anyway, after a day of cub scout outdoor training, I'm spending a very enjoyable evening with the boy scouts camping. Jack finished his tenderfoot requirements, & is sleeping in a tent without me for the first time. A good night! And good night to you all as well!

Some of may recall.. The last pic of my dog was in my bed!!

Great trip summary - I'm interested to hear more about why Bay Lake Tower earned a double-not-thumbs.

I am happy to oblige on this one: While the proximity to MK is very good, walkable, in fact, there are absolutely no services in the BLT building. In addition, any studios in the South-facing section of the building are canted away from MK, which means that the MK view rooms actually only have such views from standing in the curtains of the room, or from the left side of the balcony. Bit of a disappointment in what is sold versus what is delivered. Driving to other parks required driving all the way around the backstage area to get outside of the MK gates. Mostly, though, I had a couple of very bad CR CM experiences and was really disappointed in the way they handled things.

Finished another soccer season. Enjoying the sun.

Glad you had a great trip. We didn't like FF or Sanaa. Restaurants can have good /bad days as well.

They both have been great on multiple occasions for us. I agree that restaurants can be quite varied over time. 'Ohana this time was much better than 'Ohana the last time we tried it.

We just have to make sure we remember a camera! :rolleyes1 DEA

Oh, there were cameras. It's not like we'd go into one of these DisDads meets unprepared... :lmao:

Sorry about your experience in BLT! Hard to argue with any of your points. They do oversell the MK views of some of the rooms & there are no services in the tower. I still like the convenience to the MK, however, & generally don't drive when I'm there, so didn't notice that problem.

Survived scout camping! Boys up at 5:30.... Will probably need to get up soon & start packing up...

Nemesis, that just sound's So Wrong!

So I was listening PoC4 being discussed on the Laughing Place and they mentioned that this is the first movie produced under the Disney brand name that is PG13 for Sexuality not violence. Did you notice anything overtly sexual about. The other item pointed out in that podcast was that Disney created Touchstone films so that they could have a top less mermaid. What is it about mermaids and Disney?

We saw it Friday night. In thinking back, about the ONLY thing that could have caused the PG13 was the scene where the mermaid turned into a human and one of the dudes covered her with his shirt. You couldn't see anything, but, like they say at the start of Fantasmic: "Imaginaaaation........ "

Woke up this morning to a front yard that had been toilet papered. Only house on our street that got it. When I went out to clean it up, my mood was :lmao:, but after I got to cleaning it and realized how close they got to my kids windows, my mood quickly changed from :lmao: to :scared1:
Nothing else was messed with that I could tell as far as our cars and out buildings were concerned, and I'm hoping it was all innocent fun. All in all, it was a pretty weak effort by whoever did it as there is only one partial roll of TP in the top of one tree that I haven't been able to get down as of yet. I'll get it later today once things dry up a little so that I won't have to climb an extension ladder with wet shoes......... Great way to start the day.........

Dear fellow disdads,

I would just like to thank you for your most hospitable welcome messages.

I look forward to future fruitful dad type discussion :drinking1

Mr Raz

perfect timing on the podcast upload, got it just in time for my drive back to Orlando today....what are the chances of getting another up by Friday for my drive back....LoL.....oh well, I got a bunch of other's to catch up on.
